"We had booked a table a few days ago, but when we arrived at the time with our guests, it was not fixed. The problem was solved quickly and did not depart from an excellent dinner. The choice of dishes and styles here is excellent and the staff was able to help us in our decisions. When it arrived, the food was generous and well presented and hot (at temperature) and the various dishes were excellently spiced and well balanced – just what we expected. From the starters, the Scallops Hariyali and the Chilli Prawns were wonderful. Of the nets were the Chicken Xacuti and Tandoori Sampler of special touch, but our other appetizers and nets were all delicious. Prices are what you would expect for a restaurant of such location, you can check the menu on the website. Excellent service, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, pleasant ambience, highly recommended."

"Went to this restaurant as recommended by family. What a awful experience and terrible customer service first we were not allowed to sit unless we order and paid first. Than the waitress was rude and over spiced our food and then when I mentioned she the started to discuss with other customers that were seated our complaint while we were in mid of conversation with the waitress. Very rude and food was deliberately over chilli our food I have crohns and could not eat wasted £27 on absolutely disgusting behaviour and food. The waitress was not sorry nor remorseful at all the other lady which I presume was manager. when I explained to her how her staff behaved. Did not seem bothered of the attitude. Was quick to offer refund but I did not except as I wanted to show it’s not about refund more about treatment of the staff and experience she did not address the staff for gossiping about customers with other customers. My advice don’t bother wasting money at this restaurant and go somewhere better."

"there are some positive aspects of this site and will concentrate on it. ambiente: very personal, secret, polite and sober. they don't need a lust to have a good ambiente, that's cuddly here. 5/5 star menu: decent dishes and good mix of chicken, lamb and bark, as well as bbq and rice. 5/5 chicken karhai: good taste esp those who want to taste correct karachi karhai from a UK perspective. Of course we don’t taste the same as “Super-Highway for those who know what I mean” but still kudos for the effort and good authentic taste to bring to the table. 5/5 haleem: has not tried, so it cannot comment. nihari: again we can not expect to bring the taste of zahid or javed nihari here, but still very good labor and good choice also. good color and good tarka. 4.5/5 naan: for those who come from karachi, yes, it was what we see as tandoori roti or the secure doodh wali roti. for those who are from other regions their tandoori roti is what we chapati (red atta roti.) 5/5 gajar halwa: could not take pictures, but was delicious 4.5/5 thanks to the owner (to avoid being twitched or trimmed, I don't mention his name) but bhai many thanks to for such good experience and for us to sit a place. what a good memory this place brought. nostalgic! Thanks again and we see each other again."

"I organized a group trip to visit kesar with the alexandra players from charlton and we had the fabulous evening. the personal was all brilliant and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered a chicken tikka masala kokosnussreis and I would say it was definitiw one of the best I ever had. my only disappointment was that I didn't have space for dessert. I will soon have to try again! recommend to everyone to consider it."

"The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious, with hot and fresh generous portions that offer great value for money. The service was very friendly, although a bit slow when it came time to pay. We decided to try Nepalese dishes instead of the more traditional Indian fare typically found in the UK, and we were pleasantly surprised by how fantastic they were. While the garlic naan could have used a bit more garlic for my personal preference, the Sherpa chicken was incredibly flavorful. Perhaps that's why I didn't notice the lack of garlic as much. Overall, a great dining experience."

"The service wasn't great. We had literally sat down and asked a wine list when another staff member came and ask where we ready to order. They return took our food and drink order together. Our starters arrived very quickly, before our drinks. The prawn starter was tasty but 6 tiny prawns and a bit of lettuce was not much for the price and the flavour was good. Drinks arrived as we where finishing our starters and we where asked if we could just pour the wine ourselves, which was odd but fine. Main course arrived very quickly once the starters where cleared. The service was abrupt staff arriving at the table and shouting the name of the dish. Then setting them down very awkwardly on top of cutlery, while telling the kids the plates where seriously hot. So now the kids where left to try move roasting plates! The staff seemed very rushed and under pressure. No one checked if we had everything we needed or was the food ok. Thankfully the main course was delicious monkfish curry was amazing and the beef fillet penne as really good too. Naan bread was so disappointing in comparison. Looked like it had been bought in a supermarket very cheap version and garlic butter poured over it. Not a good texture or taste. We sat with dirty plates for at least 30 mins. When the plates where cleared we where asked would we like desserts and we said no so I'll just bring the bill then? Also like great at least thats another table gone. No up selling of sides or drinks throughout the meal. The table beside us had the same experience, they gave up and got up and paid leaving dirty dishes on the table which where still there 30 mins later. The main course was amazing but the service was not good at all. Would definitely put me off returning."

"I was curious to go first after kamal as I went vegan, since I was there all the time when I was vegetarian and I really loved eating and the atmosphere. we were mainly served by a just waitress that I realized from her work there when I had visited before. I always found her very pleasant, but at this visit she was very rude from the beginning. I understand that people have bad days, but they just didn't seem to worry, never smiled or said thank you and seemed chewing gum when she served us. I asked them about vegan options, as there was a declaration before the menu to ask about vegan food and I had also seen really great reviews on travel advisors. When I asked her, she looked at me and replied, I don't know. without cream like sweet curry or chicken curry. I don't think I could hide my disappointment, so she said she'd go to the kitchen to ask. I then saw her walking around in the restaurant and didn't see her at all near the kitchen. she came back and said: her vegetable curry and maybe, I don't know, balti? I decided it would be safer to go with the sweet curry that was in order, but essentially frozen vegetables cooked in the watery curry. the rice was the best part of the meal. my sister ordered two vegetarian dishes that looked much better. the only redeeming factor of the visit was a second waitress, which served us and a man at the reception, who were very pleasant. I am so disappointed about this experience because, as I said, I had always come to kamal and had a great atmosphere earlier. I was worried that we wouldn't even get a table on a Saturday night, but there was another couple when we arrived and one when we were gone. the service was quite shocking and I think if they advertise as vegan options, then this must be more than a herbal curry. I am not sure, however, whether this was the fault of the kitchen or the waitress, which did not interfere in the least about the question. I really hope that kamal’s will improve, as I would like to go back sometime and have the dishes and experiences I loved earlier!"

"booked a table by open table for the 1st mai. we received a confirmation email from open table, which confirmed the successful booking and time. in the restaurant to find the confirmed time, the restaurant closed! this was particularly annoying, as it was so difficult to get a table in another restaurant during bank holidays, as they were all really busy. we are not sure who is responsible here, open table or restaurant, but it would be good to receive feedback."

"visited for the second time and this time not great. the service was very bad. the order was not correct for couples. serve the dishes to false people by confusion, what they served (token confused with wiper). Missed dishes from our order. the soaking order took on a past and had to ask for them a few times. all that while the place was very quiet. they seemed strongly focused on take-away orders and did not seem to be harassed by the in store. it was so bad that it is the first time that I will be removed from a bill after a measurement service fee."

"As ever we loved this place. We needed to ask for the lunchtime menu, which we knew of. Otherwise it could be a lot more expensive. Would have been nice if it had been offered as a choice. Asked about the rice and was told it was flavoured, what they didn’t say was it was very spicy. So much so I had to leave almost all of it. The rest of the food was exceptional! Service as ever was amazing and friendly! Service was a little slower today than usual, but still not very long."

"We have been loyal customers of this restaurant since it opened, but unfortunately, our recent experiences have been very disappointing. My usual order of Chicken Makhani, which I always enjoyed for its unique flavor, did not meet my expectations as the dish lacked the delightful mango chunks I had come to love. My husband also noted that his meal was bland. We have dined in and ordered takeout in the past, but this time the food just did not impress us. It was a shame to see the restaurant empty on a weekend evening. River Cross used to be our preferred local Indian restaurant, but we will be exploring other options in the future. Additionally, limited parking is available in a small private car park."

"Went as party of six for dinner. This place was jam packed at 0730, prior booking is recommended if you don’t like waiting there for people to get up. Pretty loud due to crowd We order grill platter and salmon tikka, papads, lamb keema, butter chicken, shahi paneer, dal makhani and butter naan, pilau rice and gulab jamun with ice cream Salmon tikka is worth a try as it just dissolve in your mouth with right spices and grilled.. Grills Well personally I am not a. Big fan of grill platter as first thing is smoke which is like makes me uneasy. But that just me … Chicken tikka was good but could have been better. The rest I ddi not share but it does comes with seekh kababs and lamb shanks.. Now the best part I must say was the mains. Dal makhani i missed it how we use to have it in India . And yesterday I did tasted the dal which reminded me of the authentic taste. (Loved it) Lamb keema was really nice and lamb was cooked to perfection. Butter chicken was good as per my son as he is the big fan of the curry. Pilau Rice were good and so though butter naan’s Not sure of shahi panner as did not had a chance to eat that as was too full. Gulab jamun Don’t eat sweet so I guess it might have been good as the guys were like getting to grab another one Parking is good however do not forget to register your car to avoid the fine later. Overall experience was really good and had good time spent with friends"
