"I wanted to try out things before, and the last one was done at night. I was thrilled to discover, they offer a fully dedicated vegetarian menu and even more impressed when I discovered a few vegan options as well as listed. the restaurant itself is charming, cozy, quirky and welcoming with beautiful art hanging on sunny yellow walls, wooden floors, warm lighting and an open kitchen, so that they see the chefs their magie. it has a relaxed atmosphere, but also feels like a special, luxurious place to dinate. the two men who served us were friendly, helpful and chatting without being intrusive, I would rate the service as the best I experienced in any restaurant. I ordered a starter of spageltempura with asian salate, fresh and tangy, mainly from sweet potatoes and cherry fried fritters on a delicious mild creamy spinat curry and a luscious melt in the middle chocolate pudding with fresh earthberries, celestial and cream for dessert. my dinning partners shared a starter of the brote with tapenade that I tried and would highly recommend for the fresh taste and exceptionally generous portion literally a huge basket of individual baked broth. the food was from this world in terms of quality and taste. it was completely unimaginable. in my party of four people, each of us thought that it was the best that we cost in a very long time. we enjoyed our culinary experience in ginger bistro so much that we already plan a return trip. if they hadn't been, I would recommend you try it, as a meal here is an exceptionally pleasant evening. so a restaurant goer bistro should be perfect in every sight. I would give him 5 stars on happy cow if I could. updated by previous review on Wednesday, 14 October 2015"

"I have been to many vintage inns all across the country from Newcastle down to Stevenage and never had a problem. I usually enjoy the food and the service which is why I have returned time and again. I probably have eaten in this one about 10 times over the last year. This time upon reaching the restaurant I could not book online. The app kept telling me to retry so we chose to sit in the bar. This wasn 't a problem. I went to order the food and usually with the kids meal I swap the veg sticks for peas as my son doesn 't like the veg sticks. I feel its a waste of food to take the veg sticks that end up in the bin. Before I even finished my sentence about that the server, Rachel/Rachael(dark straight hair, short, wearing a baggy shirt), butted in and said if you want anything extra you have to pay for it . I said OK, I will leave it and just get the veg sticks as I didn 't fancy paying whatever they charge for a little pot of peas that may or may not be eaten. However, I thought it was a rude way to broach this. When I was charged it seemed like more than I estimated it to be so I requested an itemised receipt. I saw that the free drink received with the kids meal was charged so I went to query this. I was told that the kids meal is a deal and as I used a £10 off coupon it couldn 't be used in conjunction with another deal. I wasn 't aware the kids meal was a deal, but I was fine with it and went to return to my table. I then heard Rachel laughing with her colleague as soon as I turned by back and walked away. Clearly with regards to this. Due to this I asked to cancel my meal and told her why. I wasn 't bothered about the deal, it was being laughed at when I am spending my money there. She immediately screwed up her face and said I wasn 't actually. Why would I? Very defensive and immediately looked guilty. I said I don 't know. Because you 're sad? She said well you 're just rude I said laughing at a customer is rude thanks and I have visited here many times. I will not be returning she said be my guest I said well ... no ... I won 't be your guest... Will I?I wont be coming back She said no be my guest and dont come back . I said that still makes no sense I laughed to myself and said I 'm rude when you laughed at me she said you 're rude too I said so you admit you were rude thankyou . Upon leaving I realised she had charged me instead of refunding me. She charged me £90.35. This means £127.50 was taken from my account needing to be returned. I have plenty of funds so its not a problem, but had it been a problem, it takes 5 days to clear back in. I had to then go back and get that refunded on top of my original order, which took a while due to how their computer system works. The man who helped me with this was very helpful and I felt bad for him having to sort out her mistake. So I thank him for his help. Due to the bad service from this person, Rachel, and the complete mess she made with the refund, i wont be returning. In fact, I don 't think I will go to any vintage inns anymore."

"We stopped in here for an early evening meal walking up from the canalboat. The walk through the woods is the safer route from the canal via a track near to bridge 13 but it had rained for 2 days solid and it was sticky in places. The return walk along the road has a steep hill with no pavement and cars do travel fast on this section of road up to bridge 14. We did both and the woods track would be lovely when dry. As for the pub itself it was full of locals in the bar areas who were a friendly bunch to outsiders. You get some locals only bars and this definitely isn't one of those. We had a dog with us so we were restricted to the bar and outside areas which on a cold May evening meant the bar. The bar has good in period décor and very clean with a good mix of stools, seats and chairs with varying height tables to sit at. We both had burgers, one beef and one chicken. My beefburger was one of the best I have tasted in years. No soggy bun and really tasty meat. They offer sides and after enquiring if the onion rings were home made I had some of those. They were really good onion rings and at a good price too. My dining partner said her chicken burger was really tasty and no soggy bun bottom either. The food is ordered at the bar with table service. Deserts were sampled also and overall the pricing was moderate. During our 2 week canal holiday cruising the 4 counties ring we visited a good many pubs, the Badger Inn is the only one that I feel compelled to write a review on."

"We arrived to be told there was no one booked in with our name. Then we were asked if it might be under a wrong name? How would we know. They decided maybe we were under a wrong name so we could go to a table. After waiting an eternity our food finally arrived. Steak heavily coated in salt, steak pie dry and tough, tipsy chicken cold, side salad was just a few leaves looking as though it was a rabbits left overs. Diet Pepsi sent back twice as flat and strange taste to first one. We could have sent the meals back but then would have had to wait another eternity and we were so hungry it was easier to leave it. No one even asked us if we had enjoyed our meal. Dessert order taken after we had to ask, we had waited 35 minutes after being given the dessert menus. We stopped visiting The Grouse due to the last time being of a poor standard but was told it had improved. Shame we listened. Yes we could have sent the meals back, but then we would have waited another eternity. Yes we could have argued the food wasn’t worth it but we understand you need to make a living. You said your chef did his best, maybe he did, but that isn’t helpful, it doesn’t change the poor service and food. In a nut shell, we won’t be back. Two chances were enough. Other people may have had better experiences it’s just a shame that a pub we used to go to a lot has really gone down hill in our eyes."
