"We were a diverse group of eight adults (including two individuals with medical conditions), two children, a baby, and a dog. We were accommodated in a lovely private room and from the moment we made the reservation until we departed, we were thoroughly impressed. The staff were friendly and courteous, providing excellent service. Despite being seated in a secluded area, they regularly checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed and the timing between courses was just right. We never felt rushed, but we also didn't have to wait too long. The pre-ordered food was outstanding, especially the black pudding scotch egg. Each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, from the gluten-free fish and chips to the pork chop, pies, and mushroom arancini. We couldn't find any faults. Thank you for giving me the best birthday meal I've ever had. Although we stumbled upon your restaurant by chance after being let down by another establishment, we will definitely be returning and will gladly recommend you to others."

Affordable prices, attentive and cordial staff, varied food options with delicious choices. Impressive selection of drinks, particularly the Gin Cocktails. A must-visit if you're in the vicinity.

Met up with two friends for lunch. Tasty food, excellent service and reasonable price. Had to share pudding as quite big and full from mains course. Staff keen to please and very accommodating, Big 'E ' was lovely. Would recommend.

Lovely pub and lovely people but what a disappointment with the food quality. We ordered the Mac n cheese for my 4 year old daughter and on arrival of this dish, the pasta was hard and my daughter couldn’t eat it. When raising this with...

Lovely welcoming pub with roaring log fires. We were delighted to be guided to our table alongside the fire on a cold and wet February afternoon. We ordered black pudding Scotch egg to start and roast pork for mains. The starter was perfect the egg...

Very poor food at high prices. The roast beef served up was very sub standard, over cooked and probably pre sliced and reheated. It was tough as well. Presentation was good but the reality was very poor food, soggy roast potatoes and smothered in tasteless...

We had an excellent lunch with our family today. The weather was nice, so we sat at a table outside, facing the church. Two friendly ladies provided us with table service. We each chose different dishes for our three-course meal, all of which were delicious. My scotch egg starter had a freshly made, soft yolk. My main dish of whole plaice with hassle back potatoes was fresh and tasty, although there was perhaps too much "brown" butter on the plate for my liking. The side of veggies was steamed to perfection. For dessert, we enjoyed Affogato with Amaretto, which had a biscuit crumb at the bottom for added texture. The restaurant also offers a selection of wines by the glass. Just keep in mind...

"Visited today for lunch and probably wouldn't rush back although I'm aware there's recently been a change in management so maybe a few teething troubles. Messaged via their Facebook page to book a table, no response. Never was a problem in the past. The pub was very cold with no heating at all so we had to keep our coats on. Several tables near us commented the same and all sat with coats on. The coffee machine was out of order so only instant available, which wasn't pleasant. We waited a long time for someone to come and take our food order, in the end I went and found someone. Two of us wanted the steak ale pie. Only then were we told it wasn't available. The chap said we should've been told when we were given the menus, well it was him that gave them to us! With that he said he'd give us a few minutes to choose something else and walked away. He didn't come back so I had to go and ask to place our order again. At no point did anyone ask if we had any food allergies, which I thought was a requirement these days? The food was really good, credit to the chef; it was well cooked, well presented, large portions and very tasty. We did notice that two other tables waited a very long time for their food and had to chase it up, so glad we ordered when we did. We would have stayed longer and had a dessert but it was so cold we couldn't relax and enjoy it. We were next to radiator and we did ask one of the waiters if it was possible to turn it on and he said he'd see what he could do, which was nothing as it remained stone cold! When our plates were taken we asked for the bill, but it didn't arrive. Eventually a young lady arrived with the card machine and asked us to pay, which we said we'd be delighted to do once we received our bill! When we left we walked past 3 different members of staff, all of whom had waited on our table at some point during our visit. Not one of them made an effort to say thank you or goodbye. There was no warm ambiance or friendly feeling in the pub, it felt cold (literally) and unwelcoming. I also felt that a couple of members of staff waiting on tables looked rather scruffy, none of them wore a logo'd t-shirt which I feel the staff should do as they're representing the pub or brewery. It was difficult to distinguish the staff from the customers!"
