"Our 1st visit for a Sunday roast, had lovely table by window and chairs were really comfortable. The service by both waiter waitress were top notch, very on the ball, polite, friendly and pleasant. Was not rushed we had 2 trio roasts a vegan roast the food was really lovely and we all had mixtures of ice cream for dessert. The pub is very cosy, has a lovely fire and place was very clean would definitely go again and would recommend"

"one of the choices on the main menu was slowly cooked pork with cracks. there was no possibility that the pig was cooked slowly as it was as hard as an old boots. the cracking was soft, but was replaced by crasper cracking. the other three meal times were satisfactory and the desserts were good. the service was pretty slow and our impression was that they are understated. year Inn menus (main courses) have much less choice in these days. one of our party has an allergy to fish, the further restricted choice. So, if we all get together, we are unlikely to return in the near future."

"came here for a pre-Xmas menu with a few friends and this pub was very welcoming with a beautiful fire that warms the room and friendly staff to welcome us. eating with a varied menu and service was both excellent and will definitely return. could not judge this pub high enough and would recommend it to everyone."

"good food and service, but again all components of the ordered meal were not available. beef shell with emptying, but no emptying and no one has mentioned this in the order! a bit disappointed when mentioned as part of the plate."

"Here is a very friendly place that you can join with your friends, family, spouse or even alone and have an amazing time. I visit this place many times and all I have to say is you must come here for breakfast or lunch and definately for dinner. My favourite time is on Sunday for all day brunch. *Local pop-up stalls available various days of the week."

"There were a few minor issues with the restaurant, as only the disabled toilet was working and there was no tomato sauce available for some reason. However, the overall experience was really good, with tasty and reasonably priced food, as well as a very helpful and attentive waitress."

"I went to the Bear's Head with my sister for Sunday lunch on 30 October 2022. I went along with a resigned attitude thinking I would be having the burger as usual. Anyway, as our waitress was so nice and obliging, I asked if I could have the burger (without the bun) as part of a vegan Sunday lunch and she said, of course! It was amazing. Vegan gravy, vegan roasties, loads of vegetables and vegan Yorkshire pudding. I was so happy. They also do a very good vegan crumble and soy custard. I was a very happy bunny. I'm always looking for vegan Sunday lunches and the Bear's Head didn't disappoint."
"Another great Sunday Roast here. Always great food, service, and ambience. Place of choice locally for a meal out. Roast Beef was perfect in every way, and always love it when you get a little jug of extra gravy without having to ask. As per usual staff attentive but not intrusive . Would recommend."
"at the arrival at the table, the waiter advised us that only 2 starters are available from the menu and that a series of netzen were not available and that the only dessert banoffi was. that meant to enjoy a cozy 3-course meal, we had only one main course. we arrived at 7 o'clock, at 7.10 o'clock we ordered the food before something else went out. the food came fast and our meal was finished at 7.40 o'clock instead of a long evening it was pretty short cut. I've eaten a lot at the crispy, but that was a disappointing visit, and I'll be very restrained after this experience. at least this was just a family trip instead of friends who made their first visit and could get a very bad first impression of their restaurants."

"We had a lovely meal. The staff were very friendly. We haven't visited here for a long time and were pleasantly surprised with some changes, i.e. decoration. Service was good. There was a large party who arrived after us and it made it a bit noisy for us but that couldn't be helped. Will definitely go back again."

"The vegetarian and beef Sunday dinners were both delicious. I was disappointed that there was no cauliflower cheese available at 6:30 pm, and the ham and cheese pie lacked flavor. The portions were generous, the desserts were excellent, and the staff was great. With a few improvements, the restaurant could receive a higher rating."

"Lovely pub, it was busy when we went so wasn’t as quiet as I would of liked but that was to be expected on a Friday night and also nice to see. The setting is gorgeous and beautifully cosy with open fires and exposed beams. The food was really good, I had the house burger and it was very tasty. The girl serving us was pleasant and professional. She has mastered the ability to be attentive without being pushy or making us feel that we need to leave. I would both recommend the Beagle and will also be visiting again myself. Well done to all the team for providing a lovely atmosphere with good food and good service."
"Very disappointing. Waited about 50 mins for food even though it was not busy. While waiting we had to send a drink back as the glass was dirty. When food arrived they were tiny portions. Jus “as they called it” was definitely “ahhh bisto” with a tiny bit of flavouring added. Lasagne tasted like it was made with tinned Bolognese, both bisto and tinned Bolognese being tastes from childhood, were easy recognisable. Unfortunately, will not be returning. Food, in my opinion, was well below average."
"the restaurant is located in an old manor house, which is very large from the outside. the inner is lovingly rustic and the ambiente very relaxed. service was brilliant and the food was delicious. the best was that they never felt rushed to finish courses and could just relax. the ale was also top notch."
"My experience at this restaurant was great, especially in terms of their understanding of veganism. The staff spoke about their training to understand nutritional requirements, which was reassuring. I have eaten here four times, as it is conveniently located close to my house. However, I prefer dining in a pub with a fireplace! This pub offers a completely vegan menu, and the staff are happy to help with any special requests. The burger and chips were a simple but satisfying option, and the dessert was a welcome change from the usual vegan curry found in other pubs nearby. I do wish they would include a side dish (at no additional cost) as the portions were a bit small. Adding some veggies would make a difference for veggie lovers like myself! The sauce on the edge of the tart tasted like ketchup, which I found a bit odd. Perhaps a red pepper sauce or red pesto would be a better choice for decorating. I also tried the soup and Thai curry, both of which were just okay for the price. However, the highlight of the meal was definitely the delicious pudding options. The chocolate torte and pecan tart were amazing. If I could change one thing, it would be to have the pecan tart served warm. Overall, the best vegan desserts I've had in any restaurant in Broxbourne. Taking a beautiful walk along the rivers nearby and ending with a meal at this pub would make for a perfect day out."
"We booked last minute for a table of 10 and we where not disappointed! It was empty for some reason (maybe because we booked for 14;30pm) but we asked to switch tables which was fine we ended up sitting in a really cosy snug area next to an open fire. The waitress was so so lovely the decor is absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious! What a lovely way to spend our daughters 1st birthday. Thank you!"

"I was looking for a lunch venue for friends that were coming to Eastbourne for the day, I looked online for somewhere that would suit one vegetarian one gluten free and one who for medical reasons needed to choose from the children's menu. The Beachy Head menu looked perfect, I also asked for a window table. When we arrived we were given paper menus that were nothing like the online versions, and no window table. On querying the difference in menu choices we were told head office put the online menu on and It wasn't available here! What is the point of doing my research only to find it wasn't a true representation of what was on offer? I can't let this go unanswered, it wasn't me (a local) who approached the bar it was one of my guests, I didn't see the online menu she showed you but I can confirm that the menu I was looking at online when I made the booking was from the Beachy Head website which looked perfect with the choices, but was nothing like the paper menus we were handed on arrival. The children's menu that was online didn't appear at all, which was a specific requirement when I drove to the venue in person and booked it. Also I don't know who you are referring to in your reply because we were a party of three not five, booked weeks in advance. I have looked at the cuckmere Inn website and as part of vintage Inns their menu is identical, so I can see what you mean when you told my guest it is put on by Head office. I was disappointed on the day with the menu, especially after extensive research beforehand, but the venue itself was beautiful as a local I know it well, and the staff were very friendly, it has been a valuable lesson in double checking before booking."

"The service was absolutely terrible! Staff were rude! The food was not to the high standard they were portraying it to be! Had to send two mains back as they tasted horrific! Never again will we be returning. We was made to feel very unwelcome. Pate to bread ratio was measly. But nice. Went outside for a cigarette came back In to our freshly poured drinks to of be taken and cleared. Unacceptable."
"Love The Travellers rest and all six of us enjoyed the food. We all had something different off the menu and found it very tasty but unfortunately it was not very hot just Luke warm which spoilt it a little. Obviously things like veg and potatoes and joints of meat are Pre cooked so they need to find a way of keeping things nice and hot ready for serving. Service was a bit slow but it was busy and I know the hospitality industry is struggling for staff at the moment so will give them the benefit of the doubt there."

"Dog friendly there are always many dogs! cozy pub. Only two vegan choices on the menu feed bowl and a “moving mountains” burger. We ordered them both, but they ran out of the food dish, so both had the burger. The triple boiled chips >900 calories cloged! that it came nice for a dressed salad and divided a part of the sweet potato friries. Both agreed that there was the most beautiful meat like burgers we had at the age, with a beautiful burger sauce on the side, tomatoes, onions, etc. Mixed feelings because there was only one option, but it turned out to be unexpectedly good."
