"We were given 2 options of dinner 6 or 8 We chose 6 A bit early but I’d rather eat earlier than later We arrived at 5.45 and walked in on a very wet and windy day We approached the staff and told them that we arrived Immediately we’re told you need to vacate the table at 7.30 As the table was booked again Most annoying I don’t like being told how quickly we need to eat Anyway not needed because the speed at we we were served was incredible This was our 2nd visit to TWP and our last visit 2years ago was delightful Ok it was August bank holiday and the weather was better but now hint of being hurried along However the food was good and we were out and on our way by 7.15 Note to staff Don’t drill your customers about time limitations It’s not good for the digestion or for your reviews on places like this Probably wouldn’t come again in a hurry"

"Our tenth dinner visit this year to this remarkable restaurant. The food is at least the equal of many better known, self- publicising, table crowded Cornish restaurants ,some of whom, ludicrously, seem to hold themselves in some sort of hushed awe, with the expectation that you should consider yourself privileged to be allowed to be there ! This restaurant is a delightful, thoughtful, unassuming contrast, and a delight in every way. The service is lovely young, energetic, charming, attentive without intrusion and wonderful with young children. The location is unequalled a cliff siding with uninterrupted panoramic views over Polzeath beach and National Trust cliffs, farm and headland. The atmosphere, unusually for most restaurants, is one of happiness, and is mercifully free from the tiresome, loud , self promoting clientele that infests so many. Children love this place , so go early if you like the sound of children's laughter, and a bit later if you want a more sedate atmosphere . Either way, this restaurant is wonderful in every way."

"Pint Pint £8 excellent, but we had 2 people not drinking, they specifically asked if they could have a coke in place of the beer for the same price, they said yes but then charged them £1.50 more..Bill should have been £37 and were charged just shy of £60 luckily we spotted it, apparently a fault with the till... hmm.Took about 15 minutes for them to sort the bill out and were so flippant about it."

"Lovely place, but felt cold, service was slow but staff were lovely. Didn't see a member of staff for nearly minutes after we recieved desert so had to go to the bar to ask for the bill, was going to stay for coffee but they didnt seem interested in us staying. Been here plenty times in the past and much better so will just put it down to staffing issues and will go back soon."

"Really good food served with a smile. Great pub atmosphere. I think it would make sense to book table slots with a leave time to prevent people staying too long at the table. I say this because people were arriving for 9pm bookings and the tables were not free. This lead to social distancing problems which I mentioned to the staff and found quite disturbing."

"I went to the Cracking Crab twice during the Easter holidays. Both times I had my two children (5 and 8 with me. The first visit was just me and them and the second time I also had two friends with me. The setting is just beautiful. We sat right next to the window on our first visit and saw the sun go down. On our second visit we were in one of the booths but still could see the view of the beach very well. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and make my children and I feel very welcome. We try and book the earliest table we can for dinner when we have the kids with us to avoid tiredness (the children! and enhance the experience for all of us. I have also been lucky enough to go sans children with my husband on a few occasions and have had some lovely, intimate dinners at table number 1! I love seafood and wine and both are very good here. Can't wait to go back in the summer!"

"I attended a work Christmas party at this restaurant. The appetizer was tasty but a bit cold, the main course was just average, and they forgot to bring the pigs in blankets until we asked for them, and then just put them in a bowl on the table. The dessert was okay, but some of the other desserts didn't look appetizing and many people didn't eat them. The service was okay. The atmosphere was nice, with carol singers adding to the fun. It got lively, but it wasn't too crowded."

My friend, who had been there before, did agree that this was much less than previously experienced. Perhaps the 'real ' chef had over-worked on Valentine 's Day . "I always recommend urban retreat cafe for a quiet brunch between the shopping possibilities. the menu is very good, and the prices are typical for the opposite about £10 12 for a brunch with 2 eggs. "We arrived last Saturday 31/12 the 4 of us having booked a couple of days before and we're greeted with smiles all round. We each chose a different starter which were gorgeous! When it came to the main we chose to go for the chefs...recommendation which was the salmon and chicken which again I could not fault! The wine I felt was a bit expensive but id still pay for it. We also felt it was a bit too bright but again we didn't mind too much! The beer was also very nice. Lastly we chose to go for 4 brownies which were divine!
