"This was my first time at the restaurant and how disappointed I was with the food. The rest of my party had been in October last year and at the time had nothing but praises for the food. However, they have just changed the menu and the new one is missing some Greek items that were on the previous menu and I think should still be on the Greek part of the menu. The dishes in question were baked feta cheese starter and the chicken souvlaki. As I was intending to have the feta cheese starter I had to make another choice and opted for the king prawns in Ouzo, which were very nice but would have personally preferred them out of their shells as the dish became very messy to eat. I chose the Lamb Kleftiko for my main. This is my favourite Greek dish and one I choose regularly on my holidays to Greece. I love the way that it is slow cook so the lamb just falls apart in your mouth. Unfortunately, this was not how the Lamb Kleftiko at Petra’s was. No way was the lamb slow cooked. Instead there were slices of lamb that had obviously been cut off a joint after in was cooked and place in the dish. The meat was tough and the dish just so disappointing. My partner had the chicken gyros as the chicken souvlaki was not available. He said that it tasted ok, but the presentation was very lacking. It came on a meal tray and the food laid onto of a piece of paper, so felt that we were at a fast food location rather than a restaurant. I couldn’t fault the service and friendliness of the staff. However, my personal experience of the food means that I will not be returning in the foreseeable future unless their food improves greatly."

"had such a nice dinner today. that was nice to eat. the plates are quite large, we have ordered too much food for two people, but it was easy to do as it was so m a ny dinge that we wanted to try. started with the tzatziki and hummus with green harrisa. Both were great, the hummus was so light. the pitta we had to accompany them was soft and padded. for the main was the chicken sawarma so good, amazingly spicy. the pork souvlaki was tender and melting, but not entirely up to the taste standard of the chicken. strong aromen, the veg was light and had a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit as it should be. the Goan Seabass fry was amazing. my friend is really not in fish, but even she enjoyed it. such an excellent crust, no soggyness and the accompaniment of the sauce was excellent. we received the aubergine with falafel accidentally, instead of the aubergine and lamb we had ordered. we had not noticed one of the employees had seen and came by to apologize and offer to float. we went back and I am glad the falafel was excellent. my only light weight (and I use this word very easily) was that the halloumi we ordered should come with baba ganoush, an salat and tomaten harrisa. what we got was halloumi, red pfeffer sauce ad mushroom. I hate mushrooms so much! also love baba ganoush and was a little sad not to have. the sauce and the cheese were excellent and my friend loves mushrooms. she also said that they were some of the best mushrooms she ever had. So, we didn't say anything the personal was great, friendly and very attentive. we had a great night and will definitely be back"

"I went in here for a drink quiet recently and it's was alright staff were friendly I met a few people I knew from antique stores. I never go here on a Friday or Saturday night too much hassle. I live in torquay however I check with the people I know who also use this bar and I do agree with them that food can be hot and miss whether u get a good meal or not. I disagree with others who have left reviews saying this bar is dirty its actually tidy compared to most in torbay. I know most of their staff in here although I keep myself to myself as much as possible. I find their fruit machines are fair and win fairly often on them. I love the atmosphere in here and sometimes come in with my old grandad who loves a hot chocolate every now and then. I know my grandad wants to try your fish and chips one Friday but don't know when but hopefully he will enjoy it. I know your in tough competition when The babbacome inn do a fantastic cod and chip so we'll see who's best I guess... lets hope it's still a five star review after trying it... I believe to make proper reviews u got to try the drinks for a start see the staff serve u are polite and friend can have a laugh and of course at least once or twice try the food I did have a curry in here once I didn't rate at all but do try good at least twice in any pub or restaurant in torquay before u truly judge it thats why there will be another review coming if my meal not up to standand next time I have it in yates with my grandad."

"We were having a short break in Exmouth and were so impressed with the food on the first night that we booked for the next night as well. The restaurant from the outside looks small and cosy, but don’t be put off if the tables...look full as there as other room, equally as cosy, deeper in the premises The menu is interesting with a good selection of dishes and I found it difficult to choose a dish, simply because there were several that took my fancy. My wife had Chicken Souvlaki which, unlike a lot of chicken dishes was not dry and very tasty. My Lamb Kleftico was well cooked so that it fell off of the bone and was delicately spiced with a rich sauce. It was juicy and tender melted in the mouth. The second night my partner had carrot and cheese souflee served with a rich tomato sauce, Mediterranean vegetables boulangere potatoes. This I am told was lovely with a great flavour. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, so often these are overdone but these had just the right amount of crunch left in them. Myself I had Moroccan Lamb Tagine. Having eaten this in Marrakesh I was a little dubious but I need not have worried. It was not as rustic as that served in Morocco, much more refined, but just as tasty and cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared a Summer Berry Bread Butter Pudding with mixed berries. It had a good contrast on sweet and slightly sharp berries that complimented each other. The service was good, efficient, and friendly. Where there was a question , the owner was always happy to answer and obviously took a great pride, and rightly so of her restaurant. If you get a chance this is a must try restaurant and I have no trouble recommending it."
