"We went here as a group of 12 for lunch. The food was really good so no complaints on that side. We turned up at 12pm and didn't leave until after 3pm (over 3 hours) as the service was extremely slow. We were told it was because we hadn't pre-ordered, but there were many other tables that also hadn't pre-ordered, so I don't accept this as a good excuse. It's a shame as it's close to our office and would have liked to use again, but just can't afford to take that much time over lunch."

"Visited Bill’s in Chichester for the first time for a goodbye brunch with my daughter. All the staff made us feel welcome from arrival. Service was prompt, friendly and polite. However there was a mix up with our order and my daughter ended up with a vegetarian rather than vegan breakfast. The way this was handled was superb. As soon as they were aware of the muddle the ‘offending’ breakfast (that looked really good) was scooped away. A new vegan breakfast came quickly. The FOH manager also offered to take mine away so we could eat together. He was utterly charming as were the rest of the team. The breakfast was also taken off the bill. A great experience and I’d happily recommend."

"I usually love Bill's, but my recent experience was disappointing. Unfortunately, the heating was not working, and the restaurant was icy cold. While we were seated, we didn't mention it, even though the staff were aware of the issue. After we placed our order, we asked if the heating could be turned on, only to find out that it was broken. By then, it was too late for us to look for another place, as we had plans for the cinema afterward. So, we sat and ate while shivering in our coats. The only response we received was a sad offer of discounts or a confirmation of a meal paid for under very unpleasant circumstances. I regret not speaking up at the time, but my kids hate it when I make a fuss. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience at Bill's."

"The dumplings were over cooked and not very tasty. The sauce on the salad was heavy and left an aftertaste Service was not attentive we had to work quite hard to catch the waitress attention for some sauce and then the bill. I came away disappointed which is not usual as before I have enjoyed the food and the service has been good. I have said yes to recommend below as previously it has been OK so hope this is just a bad one off"

"Our meals were very good, and we chose items from both the à la carte and set menus. When our bill arrived, we noticed that the child's meal we had ordered was charged, even though the outdoor sign and the email communication stated it would be free in August. The waitress explained that it was because we had ordered from the set menu, but she offered to deduct it from the service charge. We didn't want to go through that hassle, so we decided to pay the bill as it was. I would suggest that the restaurant clearly communicates the terms regarding the free children's meal offer to avoid any confusion, as the information on the signage and in the emails was misleading. Despite this, we had a lovely lunch overall."

"We made a reservation for 9:30pm, but we regretted it. There was no welcoming smile when we arrived, only a warning that the restaurant would be closing at 10. We quickly placed our orders and our food arrived 15 minutes later. Unfortunately, 5 minutes into our meal, the music stopped and the lights turned on, ruining the atmosphere. The flatbread we received was hard and clearly from the end of the night. If you want a relaxing meal, I would recommend not going later than 8:30pm. We won't be returning as there are many better options in Brighton."

This indicates a breakdown in communication with the kitchen, and it's disappointing as this has happened to me at two different Bill's locations."

"I received excellent and attentive service even during the busy times. Although my beer order was mistaken twice, it was resolved quickly and without any fuss. Our two young grandchildren, ages 2 and 4, enjoyed themselves, although I wish there had been some crayons or activities for them. As for the food, there were no burgers available, but the seafood linguini and steak were both outstanding. We will definitely be coming back!"

"Great quality Italian Meal with very friendly staff and great value for money. Complimentary doughballs and olives to start followed by plentiful Monkfish and a delicious tortellini, washed down with half a carafe of white wine. Just to cap it off, the cheeseboard was amazing for £5.80, with 4 cheeses plentiful for 3 people let alone one and came with a complimentary glass of port. We have never had a cheeseboard for such a great value anywhere else. We will definitely return."

"We were initially served by a lovely lady who took our order, but things quickly went downhill from there. We didn't receive what we ordered, and even after sending it back twice, we still ended up with the wrong dishes. Eventually, we just decided to let it go. When our food finally arrived, it was disappointing to see that what we got was completely different from what we had ordered, but we chose not to complain, as we felt it would be more frustrating than helpful. This experience was such a letdown, especially since we have always enjoyed great service and meals here in the past. With four children and three adults in our party, I had requested butter and tomato ketchup, but we were only given a small bowl of ketchup and two tiny pieces of butter. In the end, we had to ask for more so that everyone could have enough. Overall, we were not impressed this time around."

"As a regular customer of rhubarb I was extremely upset to of received such shocking customer service this morning. Myself an partner came for breakfast at 9am and firstly ordered a coffee whilst taking an important phone call we both needed to listen to and so placed the call on speaker as there was not one other person in the building other than the member of staff that greeted us we did not see this as a problem. Throughout the call we were asked 3 times if we were eating and what we wanted to which we replied we were not yet ready to order. Shortly after the member of staff asked us very abruptly to switch off the speaker, to which my partner replied for whom exactly? (As we were the only people there and the music was blaring we could hardly hear ourselves think). She then replied for me!! Shocked at this we decided not to stay for breakfast and instead go down the road to milo (which was lovely and could not fault service). As we paid for our coffees i said to the woman she was in the wrong line of work as she didn’t offer good customer service to which she replied take you private phone calls somewhere else! In shock at how she spoke to us my partner said we would be leaving a review to which she replied she could not wait to read it and shoved us out the door. Not quite sure what the attitude or problem was for maybe woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but said to say will not be returning again and I will look forward to speaking directly with the owner myself."

"We visit this restaurant every sixth Friday when our dog is being cared for. I had the hunch to try their fish and chips, and I was delighted by how beautifully battered and crispy they were. We often bring our older friend, who absolutely loves the toffee banoffee pie. I also brought my family along, and they all enjoyed their meals; the melon cheesecake was particularly refreshing. My partner prefers simpler dishes, so they sometimes make her sausages and chips, and she loves the spicy ones. The staff is always very polite and incredibly helpful."
