"If your idea of perfect pancakes is dense, chewy, and dry, Bill 's is the perfect place for you! These are the kind of pancakes you need to cut with a knife, and once you successfully hack off a piece, after a few seconds in your mouth all your saliva will have been absorbed as you chew (and chew, and chew). Other descriptors for these pancakes ? Grainy, burnt, and crunchy. As if semolina flour was used by mistake. Light and fluffy these are not. It 's as if someone who had heard of pancakes and seen them in a photo, but never actually eaten them, was tasked with designing this recipe. The more surprising thing is that no one who actually works at Bill 's seems to have ever tried the result themselves before giving the green light to serve this to actual customers. Because surely if they had, someone would have realized the responsibility to put a stop to the effort before it got this far. The maple syrup is piled on generously, doing its very best to cover up the flavor and texture of the chewy cakes beneath, and the bacon is reasonably good. To be honest Bill 's could just remove the chew bombs beneath and serve a dish of syrup covered bacon and it 'd be a much better offering. You 'd think they would have noticed by now the massive number of pancake plates going back to the kitchen half eaten and use that as a reason to investigate a potential upgrade to the recipe like, for example, using any sort of liquid in the batter. In any case, all the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful, so we can 't fault them for that."

"Opted for the hippy bowl. It’s difficult enough to find a dish that is healthy and tasty. This really fits the bill (no pun intended) I ordered grilled chicken as an added extra. This was also good and the dressing isn’t oily as in lots of other places. If I could change anything it would be to serve it in a larger bowl so that you could mix it all up. Otherwise…perfect"

"Visited Bill’s in Chichester for the first time for a goodbye brunch with my daughter. All the staff made us feel welcome from arrival. Service was prompt, friendly and polite. However there was a mix up with our order and my daughter ended up with a vegetarian rather than vegan breakfast. The way this was handled was superb. As soon as they were aware of the muddle the ‘offending’ breakfast (that looked really good) was scooped away. A new vegan breakfast came quickly. The FOH manager also offered to take mine away so we could eat together. He was utterly charming as were the rest of the team. The breakfast was also taken off the bill. A great experience and I’d happily recommend."

"We made a reservation for 9:30pm, but we regretted it. There was no welcoming smile when we arrived, only a warning that the restaurant would be closing at 10. We quickly placed our orders and our food arrived 15 minutes later. Unfortunately, 5 minutes into our meal, the music stopped and the lights turned on, ruining the atmosphere. The flatbread we received was hard and clearly from the end of the night. If you want a relaxing meal, I would recommend not going later than 8:30pm. We won't be returning as there are many better options in Brighton."

However, I did have one issue: despite informing the servers that my daughter is vegan, her toast and hummus were served with butter on the plate. This indicates a breakdown in communication with the kitchen, and it's disappointing as this has happened to me at two different Bill's locations."

"The evening was totally spoilt by the service. Arriving at 7.20 for our 7.30 table we waited an hour for three starters our party was for 7 people. 25 minutes later we are told our mains would arrive in 5 minutes, 35 minutes later the waiter came and told us that they had run out of chips! Absolutely unacceptable. We had been there over two hours and 5 of us had not eaten anything now being told that they had run out of , what should be staple item on any menu is unbelievable. We paid our bar bill and left. Unfortunately we would not go back ,nor recommend to anyone else. Our party had met from different areas for a pre Christmas meal so it was a big disappointment."

"From the minute you walk in you start to relax. Firstly a freindly welcome, next beautiful decor and well layed out. Drinks first, well it was only just midday so a **** Mary, probably the best I've had! The lime covered in fruity red pepper corns sent it to another level, then burgers...the black and gold burger, if burgers can be fine dining this is up there. "We were initially served by a lovely lady who took our order, but things quickly went downhill from there. We didn't receive what we ordered, and even after sending it back twice, we still ended up with the wrong dishes. Eventually, we just decided to let it go. When our food finally arrived, it was disappointing to see that what we got was completely different from what we had ordered, but we chose not to complain, as we felt it would be more frustrating than helpful. This experience was such a letdown, especially since we have always enjoyed great service and meals here in the past. With four children and three adults in our party, I had requested butter and tomato ketchup, but we were only given a small bowl of ketchup and two tiny pieces of butter. In the end, we had to ask for more so that everyone could have enough. Overall, we were not impressed this time around."

"I recently organized my school association in the tea bar. from the beginning they were really helpful, we had one tied up in front of the door and we had the most amazing buffet at a great price. the staff in the night was really helpful and polite, and the managerin (which had worked very hard to prepare the buffet and whose name I sadly forgot) kept me all night about eating and checking that we were all ok, and even suggested (and organized) for the rest to go to the local homeless hostel. everyone who visited had a great time and commented on the great choice of the place, many of which had never been there. I really can't recommend it very much!"

"As a regular customer of rhubarb I was extremely upset to of received such shocking customer service this morning. Myself an partner came for breakfast at 9am and firstly ordered a coffee whilst taking an important phone call we both needed to listen to and so placed the call on speaker as there was not one other person in the building other than the member of staff that greeted us we did not see this as a problem. Throughout the call we were asked 3 times if we were eating and what we wanted to which we replied we were not yet ready to order. Shortly after the member of staff asked us very abruptly to switch off the speaker, to which my partner replied for whom exactly? (As we were the only people there and the music was blaring we could hardly hear ourselves think). She then replied for me!! Shocked at this we decided not to stay for breakfast and instead go down the road to milo (which was lovely and could not fault service). As we paid for our coffees i said to the woman she was in the wrong line of work as she didn’t offer good customer service to which she replied take you private phone calls somewhere else! In shock at how she spoke to us my partner said we would be leaving a review to which she replied she could not wait to read it and shoved us out the door. Not quite sure what the attitude or problem was for maybe woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but said to say will not be returning again and I will look forward to speaking directly with the owner myself."
