"Only a member of the bar staff for lunch service. We had to search our own menus. The barman was friendly and helpful, but overstretched. The wine list is economical and criminal about price for quality. The French Sauvignon blanc ran on our order of a second bottle. The replacement, we were told, was âeven the same priceâ. The first bottle was ÂŁ25 the replacement was ÂŁ55! This seems to be the definition of âroughly the sameâ. We chose some snacks. These were edible, but far away from exciting freezer to friteuse. I suggest you go to your next Wetherspoons instead of Jamies for better service, better food and much, much better value."

"tapas dinner was quite impressive. faster service also. the cheapest red was an affordable ÂŁ23 and quite pleasant and light. the three of us ordered 6 tapas, which was enough when none of us were ravenous. the waiter recommends 2 to 3 tapas per person. the salt-chid brand was the first plate to arrive, and was rich and thrown with some tart tomaten as well as a sous vide runny eigelb. accompanying crostina were delicately thin and brittle, which was a beautiful contrast in the texture. trĂźffelmac and cheese had arrived next door. very tasty, but the sauce was somewhat too liquid for my taste. pasta could also have been firmer. again a good idea to texture in this plate, as it contained crispy brothcrumbs, which actually contained truffles, not only truffle oil. the bark tars had arrived next door. quite fresh and even aggressive sour with picked enoki mushrooms and microcutters. after the rich mac and cheese, the sharp aromes gave a welcome contrast. I could've noticed the bad ones less. bavette steak was one of the star orders. brussel tops, sweet roast cauliflower and a opaque sauce as well as thin slices of seldom grilled steak, which is a good strategy for a cut that can be a bit hard. grilled chicken leg with salsify, sage and apricot was another excellent dish. I love greetings, but can not be harassed to cook it home because the cleaning is such a choir. very delicate grilled chicken. texture was added by the apricoses, which were added as thin dewatered shaves, chewiness. the jafit of the black bell was another satisfying court. fat, salty, with crispy skin and sitting on a stew of cockerbsen and pancetta. in general, eating was well done and well thought out. service was efficient. they were totally unfazed when we told them we had to pay with the card right now because our over arrived in a minute. in March 2019, all the restaurants of the salt yard group offer a 50% discount on the lunch and dinner on Sunday. check out the section offers of the hot dinner website to book instructions for the special deal."

"Famous for its all-day breakfasts, I was delighted to be invited to this restaurant by a friend. We visited on a Sunday and it was packed. We managed to snag the last available table and noticed that others had to wait for at least thirty minutes to be seated. A quick glance at the menu revealed that they offer a unique twist on classic breakfast dishes. Personally, I appreciate the variety as I often find myself bored with the same options on every breakfast/brunch menu in town."

"Sunday 10 September 2023 (evening dinner The meal was cooked perfectly and was extremely tasty. The restaurant setting was lovely and cozy, which made a perfect setting for our evening dinner. We loved it. My wife ordered Confit Pork Belly I had Steak Frites (Truffle coated fries very yummy. Both meals were superb : Our waitress Jee (Jessica was just Fantastic Polite, Friendly and a true Professional. With attention to detail without any fuss, Jee really made our evening very enjoyable. "really beautiful place. we weren't in a book, but they got us a table for an hour. it is a fairer price, for a good meal. it is one of these rare restaurants that the line between casual and fine eating it was bubbly and lively, the interior equipment there was a very Italian feeling, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, and were cheering the requirements of many customers very well we would make a request that personal would run around and disappear, we thought they had forgotten, or even not belonged to us in the room, but then they would. the food was perfect; good portions, but no compromises in quality. large scallops, mush and king prawns. it was a...read more"

"Food was amazing, we both really enjoyed our meals. Service was quick. We had starters and mains in just over an hour. We didnât feel rushed at all though, we were just quite quick at deciding and the food arrived quickly too. We left almost straight away after eating. Theyâve ruined the atmosphere a bit by trying to fit in too many tables. We felt like we were basically dining at the same table as another party which we found a bit uncomfortable. We probably wonât go again as for the price we can go somewhere with a better atmosphere and still have good food. but we would still recommend as some people donât seem to mind as much."

"The setting of the restaurant is beautiful, but the appetizer we ordered was overpriced and took an unusually long time to arrive. The Chicken Madras, which was my main course, came out at 6:50 PM. While the rice and naan were very tasty, the madras itself was disappointingly sweet, overly tomatoey, and lacked depth of flavor. Since this was also a birthday celebration, we felt rushed and didnât have time for dessert. We weren't the only ones facing issues; the table next to us also received the wrong drink and food orders. I have a fondness for the Penventon Hotel, having visited several times in the past and always enjoyed my experience, but last night was a complete disappointment. If you are going to offer a pre-theater dinner service, itâs essential to allow customers enough time to enjoy their meals. I made an effort to accommodate this, and it was disheartening to see such a decline in standards. I hope you can improve, as I expected much better from you."

"I have dined at this restaurant on several occasions previously and had a very positive experience, which was the case again on this visit. The decor and ambience is very understated and elegant and the atmosphere is relaxed with friendly and motivated staff. On this occasion, I felt the service at the beginning was a little slow in terms of acquiring menus and taking orders. This was possibly due to multiple tables all ready to order at the same time, one main waiter that I could see, (there may have been more) and not wanting to overwhelm the kitchen. Having said that, both the waiter and Manager were very professional and attentive when you did require service. I had the 3 course set lunch menu which was great value, a high standard of cooking and a generous portion size. My friend chose from the al a carte menu and she declared that her roasted cauliflower dish was truly delicious, so full flavour and beautifully presented. We did not feel rushed during our visit having spent approximately 2 and half hours over lunch and the settlement of the bill was easy and correct. The restaurant is spotless as are the restrooms and it is very clear that the Manager and his team take great pride in making their clients experience a positively memorable one. This restaurant deserves it's many accolades and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for good authentic food and friendly service."

"The new style Sunday lunch, which was NOT made clear through advertising or point of booking is a big let down from previous menu. Small starter choice, plated lunch with reheated shrivelled vegetables and served Luke warm. NO dessert included just brunch items like muffins to select. At ÂŁ15.95 a person this is very overpriced especially as a Marstons restaurant adjacent offes far better value for money. After making a complaint to customer services, I am really disappointed by the return email response. We chose St Davids as a special occasion birthday meal choice and can honestly say I would not recommend to others."

"Brunch aside, which is usually quite good (like the coffee in Tusk! The food here is usually average. BUT service was very courteous and friendly, cocktails were great, and the Sharing Board is a safe option for sociable food with friends if you want to sit somewhere and pick up for an evening on the bog for a few hours. Food could and should be better, but it is still a decent option if you stay on the more basic options. In addition, they are switched on to nutritional requirements such as GF with a special GF menu on request and GF bread pizza options etc."

"What a delight! First time to this branch. I travel a lot and often have to dine solo which I don't mind. Some restaurants single you out but CĂ´te Brasserie are very welcoming to all guests. Despite how busy they were on a Saturday evening, I was warmly greeted upon arriving, seated at a nice table and had excellent service throughout. Staff were attentive, yet left guests to dine in peace and enjoy their meal. I am a big fan of customer service. I have just come back from Japan where service is outstanding. I always find in the UK, we are one of the worse for service. However, CĂ´te Brasserie is starting to make me have faith again. Well done! Great menu of French classics but there are other options too including steaks and salads. Hearty but good food. Calories and nutritional information are displayed on the menu which is helpful. I had the vegan CĂ´te burger which came with frites. Freshly made, well presented and delicious. Messy to eat but so good. My Saturday treat! I actually felt shy when I fully cleaned up my plate but I was hungry and was looking forward to a burger. It delivered. I had a still water to drink so I was a bit healthy! Lovely branch with mainly indoor seating, plus a few tables outside. Lovely ambience and nice views too. They are busy given location so book a table. A lot of people were turned away or had to come back. Clean. Dessert looked good but I was stuffed. What CĂ´te have also done well is not put up prices too much, especially in comparison to competitors. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend."

"My friend and I visited last night and they had ran out of lots of food and wine options. Three of the starters we wanted werenât available and four of the mains had also ran out. The waitress mistakenly gave us the wine list meant for staff- at the top was written âsell sell sell! Donât sell based on food parings, base on priceâ. Many of the wines were also unavailable so it was a frustrating meal as we ended up ordering food and drink that we didnât really want lol. We wonât be returning, which is a shame as this used to be a great pub!"

"As a party of five we were a little disappointed- the restaurant only had one other table and then a large party in the back and despite this, they didn't accommodate us onto a nicer table (it was right by the entrance which they must have done to not make the restaurant look empty but was cold for us when the door was opened). We had booked Cote because of a birthday offer for a free bottle of Cremant- when we told the waitress she seemed disbelieving and scrutinised the email and then spent a while with her colleague before coming back to inform us it was okay (even though it was on the booking). The food was a little disappointing (the minute steak was bland whereas the chicken liver parfait was tasty) and we ordered dessert where they brought a chocolate mousse/ganache out for the birthday girl. We all thought the other had ordered it for her but no one had and they put it on the bill too!"

"in London there are other cities you know) this would have been 4 out of five however for a provincial town technically a city it has a cathedral) this was an excellent experience the service was attentive without being over powering the menu was sufficiently varied without being unrealistically over packed and all the dishes well executed judging from the comments from other tables around me. I chose the steak tartare and the Breton fish stew. The steak tartare was as good as the Ivy quite the complement) with an extra zing from the capers and added mild Tabasco, I added this BTW. The fish stew was packed with seafood and really well cooked. I personally felt it was a little under seasoned but I like my seafood on the salty side. I would recommend both dishes to foodies, especially if you havenât tried steak tartare before quite rare to find these days , no pun Intended) all accompanied by a large glass of the house Merlot an excellent paring if you donât follow the traditional white wine with fish! A robust and competency executed dinner thanks and as MacArther said â I shall returnâ. Well done"

"There is an optional additional cost for curry sauce, which I'd definitely recommend trying. Staff were nice, but got the order wrong a couple of times brought meat fish over instead of vegan fish and charged incorrectly for wine twice as they said the menu is not up to date with correct prices. It was very busy on the weekend so would need to book."

"We had a very wonderful experience there. The staff was welcoming and nice. It wasnât busy at the time since we had an early dinner so we really had a pleasant experience. The ambience was perfection! The food tasted really good but my daughterâs cheese pasta was quite bland. The french onion was so good. You dont have to go underground to use the toilet. I will definitely be coming back for more french food!"

"A good overall experience. Staff were friendly and attentive. Given 1.5hrs from 4-5:30pm on a Wednesday walk-in. Apparently it picks up during dinner time so book ahead if possible. The knock off one star was due to the dry patty in the Cote Burger (seemed like it was just reheated, definitely not made to order). Everything else was good including the Crab Maison and Duck Salad starters. The calorie counts on the menu really make you think twice if youâre on a diet. An assortment of cocktails, wines and desserts are available. Might try another Cote branch. Prix Fixe menu is well priced and probably what Iâll order next time. Bon AppĂŠtit!"

"I had the lamb which was cooked perfectly. The chips were cold with no heat at all and this was the same for all of us. The chips may have been lovely hot, but cold they certainly weren 't. Perhaps we should have sent them back but there were six of us and I don 't think we could have stood the wait of six meals being brought up to temperature. The broccoli was also cold (but this isn 't such a problem for broccoli). The peppers were good, the sauce indifferent. Dessert was a brownie with an intenesely tart passionfruit coulis. In itself it was fine, but to my taste didn 't go with the brownie at all and actively fought against it. On top of this was a mousse whose flavour I 'd call 'sweet ' (I think it was supposed to be chocolate). On top of this were some pieces of honeycomb which didn 't add (or take away) anything. A dessert which while not actively unpleasant, I 'd never want to eat again. I 've been in chain restaurants like Cote or Cafe Rouge where they make a rich, satisfying choclate fondant I 'd much, much rather have a competent dessert than one which tries too hard and fails. I didn 't have a starter as I usually struggle with three courses and sides. I had the main, shared two sides and had a dessert and, when I left, was still hungry. For ÂŁ40 plus wine this was an expensive disappointment. Six diners, four not happy with the meal, and haven 't discussed it with the other two."
