"Tonight I had the most appalling dinner experience of my entire life and in the UK!!!! I was with a group of investors all from African countries including myself even if I have very light skin tone. I have to say this like it happened. We were four and as the other 2 colleagues sat down, the older chinese lady waitress showed visible discontent for the amount of time taken to place the orders which was really 5 mins then left our table upset without saying anything. Then comes this Chinese waiter guy immediately as if to speed things up, and who to Brits standards was plain Rude to my colleagues. He kept urging us to order. When asked about the wine selection, he kept mentioning that she had to order the bottle as if ordering a wine glass never existed before. My colleague asked to remove the chicken from the rice for more eggs as she does not eat chicken, but the owner waiter obsessed about the effort that it will take them to do this, plus the fact that it will cost her more, and that the portion will stay the same, despite my colleague repeatedly explaining that this is what she wants no matter the cost. This conversation went on for a solid 5mins. Somehow, the complex and rocket science information did not sink in a typical Chinese brain I guess and my colleague just gave up as he kept insisting . Then back is the Chinese lady, who abruptly announces that there was a charge of £40 table or £10 person when one of the ladies decided not to place any food order but would have drinks. This was never shared with us before sitting down. This is written no where. When one of us challenged it, she tried to show us a small print on the menu which do not reflect at all the sudden made up rule. I felt more than uncomfortable. They made us feel unwanted, and made it so difficult for us to place orders. I felt sorry for my colleagues for being treated so poorly and unfairly. I was shocked. I was appalled. I had no words. We decided to cancel the orders and leave. I realised that no matter the discrimination I possibly have faced before was nothing in comparison to what black people face and here especially by the Chinese people in the UK who think of themselves as superior to African people. I say this factually as I was treated differently when I went to this exact same restaurant the night before and on my own. Trying to order a meal tonight was excruciatingly painful. Shame on you! Look at yourself in the mirror and let me remind you that you are immigrants too, not white, working shifts and serving people. If you cannot intergrate properly into the UKs culture, have manners, learn simple English, and can't handle multicoloured customers, go back to your beautiful China!! Also the portions are tiny, you are served in a small plate so you don't realise that the portions are smaller, and the price is too expensive for what you get. When my food arrived the previous day, I thought that i ordered the wrong meal or that they gave me a lunch menu or kid's meal. All in all don't waste your time or money there."

"Having lived in China, my standards for dim sum are quite high. I was travelling to London for a few days and I was looking for a place to have my fiance try xiao long bao and dim sum (we're French and it's almost impossible to find good dim sum in Paris so I always wait to go back to China or to London to have good dim and well executed xiao long bao. I read the reviews about Min Jiang and thought Min Jiang could be the rare gem I was looking for (a decade ago, I used to go to Hutong to eat dim sum in London, but the quality has decreased unfortunately. Too bad their xiao long bao used to be as good as Shanghai's Nan Jin Xi Lu Din Tai Fung's from the 2000s not Din Tai Fung today . Both my fiance and I were extremely pleased with our experience at Min Jiang, not only was the service very polite, kind and attentive but it's one of the best dim sum experience I've had in a really long time... We ordered several steam dumplings and not only did they look good, they tasted even better. The dough had the perfect consistency for each dumpling, beautifully thin but strong enough to hold the fillings. The fillings were so well executed, the meat in the classic pork xiao long bao was quite thin in texture, the soup was delicious, no overpowering taste of ginger, the crab and pork xiao long bao had less soup (because of the consistency of crab meat I suppose but it was a lovely take on the dumpling and we strongly recommend you try both. We also recommend all the other meat or seafood steamed dumplings (except the Cha Siu Bao, the only disappointment of our lunch , have the prawn dumpling in chili oil, a dreamy explosion of flavours in the mouth... Definitely order the Yangzhou egg fried rice, if you haven't had delicious authentic egg fried rice in a while, you will be over the moon. Last but not least, bless your tastebuds with the scallop with ginger and sprinkles onion... You will never forget the experience. Thank you Min Jiang for this dream of a lunch..."
