"I ordered this as a special valentines meal. I knew the main meal prices were expensive but I was shocked to receive a phone call stating I had to spend a minimum of 20 per person on food.. This wasn't stated anywhere on the booking! I arrived 20 minutes early and was shown to the bar and ordered drinks and said I was happy to accept my table early if available.. Half a hour later I was still waiting for my table yet had seen couples without a reservation get seated straight away so was a little surprised that I had to ask if my own table was ready and not be called over by the host. I ordered the minimum 40 worth of food and ordered 2 starters and 3 main meals. The starters came promptly but this is where the problems continued.. The portion sizes were tiny, 6 vegetable spring rolls which you could eat in one mouthful. During this time and all through out the service, I had different waiters bringing me more starters that I did not order and even the tables next to me had to refuse food 3 times which they did not order. Once the starters had been cleared, the mains were promptly brought over apart from the 1/4 duck.. So we had the sweet and sour chicken (tiny portion yet again) and beef noodles.. A server came over to me and confirmed my name an asked if I had a booking for 7 people whilst I was eating my meal! I was a bit confused by this as the meal kept getting interrupted. Another waiter was hovering over me waiting for me to take my plate whilst I was still eating! The duck never came by it self, I had to ask where it was.. If I didn't have a minimum spend I would have asked for it to have been deducted. Once the duck was cleared, we had another server ask us if we had finished our starters! Once the bill came it wasn't itemised and just stated Food: ?? And drink ?? Overall it was a thoroughly disappointing experience and sadly won't be turning up again as Ive never had such poor service. Such a shame."

"Hearty and hot Chinese food in central London. This restaurant serves home style dishes from the Sichuan and Hunan regions of China. Judging by how many young Chinese diners it had attracted on a Sunday evening they are onto something. To be fair there are a few items on the menu which may prove a tough sell to those not brought up on China's nose to tail approach to eating. "OK the quality of the food was excellent but was over shadowed by the severely small portions and massive prices. The duck and pork feast was over £25.00 and contained about 20 pieces of meat. The dim sum came in portions of 3 and not 4. Unfortunately, this gets a thumbs down from me and I won't be recommending it unless you have very deep pockets."

"Went for an evening meal after a long time without being able to go to a restaurant. Pleased to report we weren 't disappointed. We were seated promptly at a table for two and were immediately asked if we would like a drink. The server was very attentive as it wasnt the busiest evening, even though it was a Saturday. The menu itself is very extensive, with set meals as well as a la carte. We opted for a la carte. Our starters were Wonton soup(9/10), Butterfly King Prawns(9/10), salt pepper squid(10/10) and salt pepper ribs(7/10). This is due to a bit of frozen aftertaste on the ribs. After this our mains arrived, 2 portions of egg fried rice(one is enough for two people), beef in oyster sauce(7/10), again unfortunately a bit of frozen aftertaste on the beef but the sauce was delicious and the beef very tender. Also had the XO Squid Prawns which were amazing(10/10). All in all a very good meal and hope the management will look into my comments on the ribs and beef. My ratings are only deducted for the food not being quite as good as it could have been. Definitely be back."

"As vegans we usually end up in an Indian or Thai restaurant since we know there will always be some compliant dishes that we can order. The restaurant is tastefully furnished and decorated. The building is one of the few that reputedly survived the big 1666 fire. There is a beautiful antique leaded stained-glass window with the date 1625, and it is too bad that the inscription of a blessing is mostly hidden on the inside by a row of fake orchids. We ordered tom yam soup, broccoli with garlic sauce, tofu with ginger, green vegetable curry and two orders of brown rice. Eventhough these were simple dishes, they were executed very well, with a perfect balance of flavors and spice. Having had the same dishes in Thailand many times, I can vouch that these were as good as those I had in Thailand. Some previous reviews mentioned that the portions were too small. I disagree. We were able to share the dishes between the two of us and there was more than enough. We ended our meal with the ubiquitous sticky rice with mango, which was excellent. The use of pandan leaf to flavor the rice was a lovely surprise. The rice was also not as cloyingly sweet as in some other places. Definitely worth going back to."

"Love the convenience of this restaurant. A little luxury in an otherwise busy and stressful place. However 15% service plus £1.50 cover charge per head all adds up to too much. The staff were very friendly during our visit in August 2022 and got my 5 stars. Several menu choices were unavailable and it seemed like although the restaurant was only half full, we were all crammed into one half. The staff did their best to make up for this."

"Firstly, its not just a Chinese restaurant..... you can buy a whole range of oriental and spicy dishes.The service is exemplary, it even makes me smile upon leaving the the matredee (sp) always says Goodby Mr XXXXX to my husband, and that was from the very first time! its these little touches and the instamatic prawn crackers that you remember.Saying that, the food is beautiful and the surroundings pleasent, so I wouldn't doubt your enjoyment....Becareful at weekends though because downstairs opens as a bar and produce a little bit of hubub. "The food and value are great, but unfortunately the day I went with my colleagues the service was horrendous. There were only 2 girls working the entire restaurant and it showed; we struggled to get our drinks served and had to correct them a few times after they got it wronged. We also had to ask them for a wipe after the waitress spilled hot water all over our table. They also got our food order wrong, and I had to wait for my food after everyone else had been served. I would go again but only when they are fully staffed!"

"Excellent food (dim sum) as always. Outstanding service unobtrusive but there when needed. I dropped a chopstick and before I could look for a waiter a replacement was being offered to me. A little disappointed the custard tarts were not on the dessert menu but the menu does change regularly and the other choices were all good. My husband enjoyed the unexpected combination of the matcha brulee and blood orange sorbet exceedingly. Brilliant view across the park A little more attention needed at the bar as not all those at the start of the lunch service are waiting for tables and I had to ask for the cocktail menu. Cocktails a little pricey. I have been using this restaurant for over 10 years and it's always a joy."

The menu offers mostly pork options, hardly any chicken or fresh seasonal veg. The actual menu is tacky in plastic wallets, this doesn't make a good impression of a high end place. The ice cream tasted like it had been in the freezer 2 years. The waiter brought out our food separately so some food was cold and some was hot, this is such bad service. They were hardly anyone around, we were left waiting to pay when another party came in to eat. Toilets had no tissue, I had to go back upstairs to ask for toilet paper! How bad! The toilet bins were over flowing and general mess put me off my food. Overall this is 1/5 and I wouldn't go back."

"Very bad. At around 1pm on Sunday 31st December I received a call saying that my 5pm booking (same day) had been cancelled as they were now holding a New Year's party that would cost about £200 per person. For my booking they said that I could only move it to 3pm (before they closed). They should have had these details on Open Table beforehand. I then asked if they could hold my booking so that I could discuss with friends that I booked it for. When I called back they were unable to understand me and the conversation was a bit of a struggle. In the end I cancelled the booking."

"I am very happy that we decided to dine at this restaurant today! The atmosphere was inviting and the menu looked fantastic, so we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed! The food was incredibly delicious, the portions were generous, and the price was very reasonable (£20 per person for two courses including tip). There was also a large selection of vegetarian options available. Additionally, I received a complimentary dessert. The service was top-notch, as everyone was very friendly and attentive. My friend was drinking a lot of water and they noticed, bringing him a larger glass for his refill without us even having to ask. We have never experienced this level of service elsewhere and we truly appreciated it. The music playlist was also great!"

"We started off with some delicious Jasmine tea, served generously in a hot metal pot. We also enjoyed some Sake, served at the perfect temperature and quantity. The flavour was exceptional. For our main dishes, we ordered the quarter duck, which came with plenty of shredded meat and pancakes. We were pleasantly surprised to have leftover pancakes, unlike other restaurants. The entire team at The Good Earth is dedicated to providing top-notch service. Next, we tried the steamed sea bass, which was presented beautifully. The seasoning was perfect, and the temperature of the filleted fish was just right. It was expertly cooked, as there wasn't a single bone in sight. The egg fried rice was served in a sturdy bamboo container with a lid and spoon to keep it warm. After our feast, we unfortunately didn't have room for dessert, but we will definitely try it next time. We often visit the Knightsbridge branch for lunch, but the overall experience at this Mill Hill location was on a different level. Unfortunately, this wasn't the right place for it. The food was just average, and while the service was decent, the atmosphere felt lacking since it was a midweek visit. However, when we received the bill, I found it quite excessive for what we had. Overall, it was a bit of an anticlimax and didn't convince me to choose Chinese over a Thai meal."
