This is the best Peking duck I have ever tasted. It was cooked to perfection and expertly served.

The Peking duck at this restaurant is outstanding. The skin is crispy, the meat is juicy, and the pancakes are freshly prepared. The biscuits are carefully lubricated and perfectly bleached. Each component is exceptional on its own, but when combined, they create a truly exquisite dish.

The prices were dear relative to the quality of the food, or rather, the lack thereof. The discount helped to ease on pain on the evening. But discount or no discount, China Zen is not worth making the trek for. We didn’t have the Peking duck but it’s impossible for me to believe that it could be any good. View menu

I decided to visit Zen on a whim on the evening of 25/11/11, based on a friend's recommendation. I have to say that the overall experience was fantastic, from the delicious food to the stunning views of Big Ben. The restaurant is in a great location in Graffyhall, with excellent service and attention to detail. The staff was very helpful, making it an all-around excellent experience that I would happily repeat.

well maintained atmosphere as we are the first to come to the restaurant after 18 o'clock. a beautiful view of the themes in the direction westminster, this wooden inspired restaurant is strangely very unChinese, without Chinese decoration at all. no music. the restaurant is located in a strange location, and they go through what seems to get an abandoned teppsnyaki restaurant to it jump rolls ok, but the muted siu mai very obviously shop purchased. and no chili sauce. I went to this Chinese on a recommendation and had high expectations. Unfortunately I was let down. The food was average at best and the service was of quite a low standard considering that we were one of two tables filled at the restaurant. Considering the price you pay, you would expect polite staff and a reasonably quick service if it was quiet. However,the décor of the restaurant is very authentic and Chinese, which creates a memorable impact on your mind. This can then be coupled with the nice location and views of Big Ben and the London Eye. I would recommend this to someone who wants to experience Southbank, not to someone who wants to experience great Chinese food. View menu

Does it matter where you eat a particular dish? If Beijingers are to be believed, it does. To them, the only city on earth to eat Peking duck Beijing kaoya is the Chinese capital. For want of a less pretentious word, it's all about the terroir . After all, the top Beijing restaurants use only locally bred birds that are roasted in a special oven fired by fruitwood from local orchards. Before roasting, the duck is pumped with air, coated with maltose syrup, and left to hang to dry. This process takes a day and some restaurants even go so far as to prepare their ducks in climate-controlled hanging' rooms. Specialising in Beijing and northern Chinese cuisine, Zen China is situated on the first floor of County Hall (former GLC premises) by the London Eye, with fantastic views over the Thames and Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. While I can't pretend to be a fan of Chinese food this is one of very few Chinese restaurants I'd be happy to eat at. we were having a great time with our son enjoying the different acts and shows near the london eye...suddenly we felt very hungry and could not decide where to eat...as my wife is vegan so had to choose accordingly...saw this chinese restaurant up in the county hall...decided to have it a go....my wife was very apprehensive ...however to our surprise the staff was ultra polite and agreed to do vegan noodles for my wife and she loved it ...the fryums that came in the beginning with the sweet chilli sauce were also awesome...they did a stir fry chicken for my son without any chillies and he totally loved it...overall we had a fantastic experience...the location of this restaurant by the...read...
