A delightful combination of tender grilled steak and succulent seafood, perfectly seasoned and served with a choice of sides.

"Food was good for the price. The Veggie option was nice, but with such a strong taste was too much and could be done with one side to break it up. Roast was okay. Puddings were nice. The staff was very friendly, had to ask for a drink menu tho."

"Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Restaurant very clean and well-organised with open kitchen. One-way system operating due to Covid. Views are absolutely fantastic. It's slightly more costly than a bog-standard fish and chips, but the food is good and the setting makes it well worth a visit."

"I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant with great fish and chips, and a view of the harbour. The lady serving had good banter and the service was top-notch. I couldn't find anything to dislike about this place. I highly recommend trying their Fish and Chips. It's perfect for a takeout lunch and falls in the price range of £10-20 per person. The atmosphere was also excellent, earning a perfect 5-star rating."

"The service really was great, we were so impressed. We had a bottomless brunch and sat outside, the lovely girls were bringing us drinks before we'd even finished the last. Food was ok but good value for the price and lovely spot on the river in canary wharf. we'd go again!"

"Popped in for lunch with my husband , I had the Jamaican spiced Lamb Shank which was amazing with a hint of kick just beautiful and my husband had the slow cooked Ox cheek which melted in the mouth . Desert of banana and fudge bread and butter pudding was quite possibly the best desert we have ever had . Lovely atmosphere and special ales"

"a solid, popular Italian of us, we recently visited my daughter's birthday. the personal was brilliant, especially with my 5 year old son who got his own pizza to make and who then was above the moon with the selection of ice-cabs from the shady box! the personal has also sung a candle on the dessert of my daughter and her a happy birthday. the food was delicious and the service was fast. would recommend it to others and will certainly return in the future."

"It’s was my first visit, and I didn’t know what to expect. All I can say this is one to definitely try… The food was so tasty and came out nice and hot. However the mocktail was rather disappointing there wasn’t no real taste to it But overall it was a great experience I would recommend it. Staff where friendly."

"Considering I was initially looking forward to my experience here, I was disappointed with both the quality of the food and the service me and my party were provided. After ordering drinks, my group of friends shared a starter of Nachos which was essentially tortilla chips served with cheap salsa and guacamole. For the all important mains and signature burgers, I ordered the classic ‘Smoker’, however, the only thing left smoking was the hole in my wallet. The bun was as dry as the Sahara, and although the quality of the burger was satisfactory, I was left wondering on how downhill the standard has fallen since previous ownership.Overall, an unsatisfactory meal for an inflated cost."

"The food was lovely when it eventually arrived. To start there was 3 starters missing which was a miss read from kitchen and management that came to tell us we ordered extra. Mains were all fantastic even with the extras we had ordered. We waited 1 hour for our deserts before we said something to which we then again received 3 less then was ordered. This was all pre ordered boxing day menu food. What made it even worse was when we went to pay the bill there was no management at all. No apologies was made at all and the management just disappeared even though I sat for 5 minutes so I could explain why I wasn't happy and what I recommend he needed to do to solve the problem. It's a shame as we used to use this place often but will unfortunately we will not be eating under this management again. Very poor at best"

"Myself and wife recently visited this restaurant and were lured to this by the seafood platter we had seen on the website/menu. For starter we shared the mussels and scallops. The mussels were of the highest quality whilst the sauce that they were in was also good . The scallops we received were unfortunately not as good quality and given this restaurant specialises in seafood you would expect better, The scallops were certainly not cheap and these were not reflective of the price. The seafood platter we received had half a Cornish lobster, tiger prawns, cray fish tails, smoked salmon and mussels and crab meat. The presentation was OK however the seafood platter was similar to the scallops in terms of quality. On the menu it mentions that all the seafood is locally sourced and fresh. Truthfully I suspect the lobster and prawns were not locally sourced. These had the hallmarks of frozen and not fresh and of supermarket quality. We found the platter slightly disappointing. Service was good and the 2 girls serving us were helpful and we were happy with the service received."

"We absolutely adore the samphire bush and are extremely saddened to hear that it will be closing soon. It will be sorely missed in our dining experiences. We are grateful for the delicious food and wish the restaurant all the best in their future endeavors."

"For a pub, it's decent. They have toy dispensers and it's clean, which makes it suitable for children aged 8 years and older. However, there is no entertainment provided for younger guests. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with a ramp from the car park to the door and no steps inside. The service is good and the meal options are suitable for lunch. The price per person ranges from £20 to £30."

"I took my partner to this restaurant for their birthday, but unfortunately the steak we wanted was not available. We then ordered another steak, only to be told they were out of that as well. Despite being the only customers in the restaurant, the service was not very good. We had to leave and find another place nearby to celebrate my partner's special day. Overall, it was a disappointing end to what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner."

"Friends I had birthday lunch here yesterday I must confess to being disappointed. We 've eaten here numerous times in the past. The food was lovely. We were seated by the manager (perhaps? who was attentive however the rest of the service was poor. Although their online menu showed 1/2 lobsters as an option (something I 've enjoyed in the past here it was not on the menu. I asked if it was available (there were 1/2 lobster options on surf turf with scallops was told no. No I 'll check with chef, make enquiries, just no. I was told it was available (on their Jan offer on a Thursday well it was Saturday so not much help today! I ended up ordering a cheaper option. Starters were all delicious wee but shell in my crab mackerel tart but I can forgive that. One friends main course (was technically a starter with side if I 'm being precise was forgotten . Having worked in a number restaurants in my younger years I am astounded the chefs didn 't query why only 3 mains were being ordered when there were 4 covers. In fairness they removed her starter from the bill without quibble. The waitress offered to keep her side warm however my friend asked for a fresh side to arrive with her meal not sure whether that was carried out or not. For another friend 's main, the muscle that attaches the scallop to the shells had not been cut prior to cooking so they were somewhat difficult to remove eat. At £22 a dish we expected them to be prep 'd properly. Also had to repeatedly catch the waitresses attention when required more wine. Other two mains were tasty albeit my dish was not what I I had been looking forward to! All in all it was a disappointing lunch for somewhere we had grown fond of over the years. I 'd recommend jumping on a bus down to Leith to either their sister restaurant (although in fairness I 've not been there in a while! or The Ship Inn (for that elusive 1/2 lobster!"
"A warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff. Perhaps not the easiest of places to find, even if you do know your way around as it 's hidden away in a quiet back street in an already quiet village location. We were quickly seated on arrival and drinks soon sorted. An adequate choice on the Sunday Lunch menu, including traditional Sunday Roasts and pub classics. Vegan and vegetarian options. A nice touch that although my wife chose a main that was shown as vegan on the menu, they thoughtfully asked if she was indeed vegan (or vegetarian) before the food arrived so as to tailor accompanying veg/roasties/yorkshire pud accordingly. Starters, mains and desserts were all simply presented, without excessively flamboyant garnishes etc but that 's no criticism, just an observation the food itself was very good indeed. Really enjoyed our starter roasted asparagus with garlic mushrooms. Only minor criticism being that one of the sides (cauliflower cheese) was a bit over browned. Swiftly noted by server and a replacement offered (but declined it really was no big deal). I had the classic beer batter fish with chunky chips. Menu said mushy peas but regular petit pois were served. Superb chunky chips and chef really nailed that beer batter (apparently using Hooky ale seems to work well at any rate delightfully light batter with no soggy bits or over hard bits either). Generous portions all round, so both of us elected to leave a little room for our desserts We both enjoyed our meal and will doubtless be back at some point in the near future."

"Have been here a few times now and have never had a bad meal or bad service. Every time we have been welcomed warmly, seated quickly (pre-booked) and been given the time to relax and make our choices. The wine selection is good and well suited to this place (one bottle certainly makes a reappearance on each visit). But the star of the show are the steaks! Always cooked to perfection and are clearly of high quality. It's a must try if you haven't been. "We had a very disappointing meal in the STONEAGED restaurant on Saturday. Service slow, restaurant cold, food okay. We arrived and was seated by 13:15 (table booked for 13:30). Starter arrived at 14:00, we had to ask for the main after waiting over half hour with empty starter plates. At 16:00 we got so fed up waiting after finishing the main, we paid the bill and left without desert or coffee. The room was so cold, most of us had to put our overcoats back on to keep warm. The food was ok, when it eventually came, but it was a great shame the whole experience was spoilt by the service, plus, there was no Christmas options on the menu as we were told when booking. The slow service was also a little surprising as there was only one other table of 4 in the restaurant, although the bar looked a bit busier. Overall, a disappointing experience just before Christmas."

"With two coeliacs in our large group I want to give two reviews. GF the burgers are delicious, one of the coeliacs is a young boy who misses a good burger, not home made, and the fail usually is the bun and that chips can’t be served with a burger. But not here, separate chip fryer so no contamination of chips and the bun is fantastic. Desert options were great we were told usually a steam sponge option. Food was so good they went twice in three days Non gluten free food. Fabulous. Hot fresh and well cooked. Cooked to order and served as requested."

"Friend of mine staying here right now and is scared! She just had 3 men knock on her door there’s no peep hole to check who it is, no door stopper to close the door so it won’t fully open. She was terrified as they tried to speak to her and luckily her instinct to shut the door kicked in otherwise who knows where that could have went. No one has picked up at reception/front desk and she is terrified and will be up all night making sure nothing happens to her ready to dial the police if someone knocks again. This is totally unacceptable, they need security or other security measures in place to avoid this."
