A delightful combination of tender grilled steak and succulent seafood, perfectly seasoned and served with a choice of sides.

"The restaurant has a charming ambiance and is aesthetically pleasing. The food was decent/good, but the service was lacking. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to receive our food, and we had to ask three times for water before it was brought to us. It seemed like there were not enough staff members, as more and more customers kept coming in. Several groups of people had to wait for extended periods of time. The establishment should consider limiting the number of patrons if the staff is struggling to keep up with the demand."

"Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Restaurant very clean and well-organised with open kitchen. One-way system operating due to Covid. Views are absolutely fantastic. It's slightly more costly than a bog-standard fish and chips, but the food is good and the setting makes it well worth a visit."

"I really liked this multi-roomed Adnams pub situated across the road from the 17th century Moot hall and seafront gardens. If you enter from the sea facing side then you walk through two front areas mainly aligned for dining before reaching the bar and an additional two areas which are more set up just for drinking. A nice Creme and sea blue decor throughout and plenty of period black and white photos of the local area to provide some character. 4 Adnams ales were on with the usual Broadside, Southwold Bitter and Ghostship, but I went for the Regatta golden ale and very good it was. We were only in for drinks on this lunchtime as we intended to graze from the seafood shacks on the stone beach a short walk away, and I like the fact that there was a good mix of people eating and just drinking, even in the front two rooms. This was probably the pick of the pubs I tried in Aldeburgh."

"The food at the Malt Shovel is among the finest in the area, and you won't be let down by their Sunday roasts or à la carte menu. Price per person: £20–30. Food: 5/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 4/5. Recommended dishes include Roast Beef, Slow Roasted Fennel Herb Pork Belly, and Sausages with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy."

"I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant with great fish and chips, and a view of the harbour. The lady serving had good banter and the service was top-notch. I couldn't find anything to dislike about this place. I highly recommend trying their Fish and Chips. It's perfect for a takeout lunch and falls in the price range of £10-20 per person. The atmosphere was also excellent, earning a perfect 5-star rating."

"The food was lovely when it eventually arrived. To start there was 3 starters missing which was a miss read from kitchen and management that came to tell us we ordered extra. Mains were all fantastic even with the extras we had ordered. We waited 1 hour for our deserts before we said something to which we then again received 3 less then was ordered. This was all pre ordered boxing day menu food. What made it even worse was when we went to pay the bill there was no management at all. No apologies was made at all and the management just disappeared even though I sat for 5 minutes so I could explain why I wasn't happy and what I recommend he needed to do to solve the problem. It's a shame as we used to use this place often but will unfortunately we will not be eating under this management again. Very poor at best"

"a solid, popular Italian of us, we recently visited my daughter's birthday. the personal was brilliant, especially with my 5 year old son who got his own pizza to make and who then was above the moon with the selection of ice-cabs from the shady box! the personal has also sung a candle on the dessert of my daughter and her a happy birthday. the food was delicious and the service was fast. would recommend it to others and will certainly return in the future."

"Friends I had birthday lunch here yesterday I must confess to being disappointed. We 've eaten here numerous times in the past. The food was lovely. We were seated by the manager (perhaps? who was attentive however the rest of the service was poor. Although their online menu showed 1/2 lobsters as an option (something I 've enjoyed in the past here it was not on the menu. I asked if it was available (there were 1/2 lobster options on surf turf with scallops was told no. No I 'll check with chef, make enquiries, just no. I was told it was available (on their Jan offer on a Thursday well it was Saturday so not much help today! I ended up ordering a cheaper option. Starters were all delicious wee but shell in my crab mackerel tart but I can forgive that. One friends main course (was technically a starter with side if I 'm being precise was forgotten . Having worked in a number restaurants in my younger years I am astounded the chefs didn 't query why only 3 mains were being ordered when there were 4 covers. In fairness they removed her starter from the bill without quibble. The waitress offered to keep her side warm however my friend asked for a fresh side to arrive with her meal not sure whether that was carried out or not. For another friend 's main, the muscle that attaches the scallop to the shells had not been cut prior to cooking so they were somewhat difficult to remove eat. At £22 a dish we expected them to be prep 'd properly. Also had to repeatedly catch the waitresses attention when required more wine. Other two mains were tasty albeit my dish was not what I I had been looking forward to! All in all it was a disappointing lunch for somewhere we had grown fond of over the years. I 'd recommend jumping on a bus down to Leith to either their sister restaurant (although in fairness I 've not been there in a while! or The Ship Inn (for that elusive 1/2 lobster!"

"Considering I was initially looking forward to my experience here, I was disappointed with both the quality of the food and the service me and my party were provided. After ordering drinks, my group of friends shared a starter of Nachos which was essentially tortilla chips served with cheap salsa and guacamole. For the all important mains and signature burgers, I ordered the classic ‘Smoker’, however, the only thing left smoking was the hole in my wallet. The bun was as dry as the Sahara, and although the quality of the burger was satisfactory, I was left wondering on how downhill the standard has fallen since previous ownership.Overall, an unsatisfactory meal for an inflated cost."

"We absolutely adore the samphire bush and are extremely saddened to hear that it will be closing soon. It will be sorely missed in our dining experiences. We are grateful for the delicious food and wish the restaurant all the best in their future endeavors."

"Myself and wife recently visited this restaurant and were lured to this by the seafood platter we had seen on the website/menu. For starter we shared the mussels and scallops. The mussels were of the highest quality whilst the sauce that they were in was also good . The scallops we received were unfortunately not as good quality and given this restaurant specialises in seafood you would expect better, The scallops were certainly not cheap and these were not reflective of the price. The seafood platter we received had half a Cornish lobster, tiger prawns, cray fish tails, smoked salmon and mussels and crab meat. The presentation was OK however the seafood platter was similar to the scallops in terms of quality. On the menu it mentions that all the seafood is locally sourced and fresh. Truthfully I suspect the lobster and prawns were not locally sourced. These had the hallmarks of frozen and not fresh and of supermarket quality. We found the platter slightly disappointing. Service was good and the 2 girls serving us were helpful and we were happy with the service received."

"Menu was not as on the net VERY disappointed especially it was our wedding anniversary we took another couple. It was embarrassing because they had also looked on the net to look at the menu. of the normal starter not on the menu only steaks no risottos or pizza (not that we would have ordered pizza) none of the desserts other than the Eaton mess which was in fact served in a brandy basket (stated mixed fruit) but we could not find mixed fruit other than passion fruit pips which we left because it was a load of whipped cream. Things like cottage pie. Lasagna It was as if it was a lunchtime menu. Had we have known we would NOT have gone we went because of the selection on the advertised menu. I asked a member of the staff for the normal menu to which I was informed that was the menu.I said in that case it should have been altered on the net for the amount of time it was going to be their normal menu or when booking they should have informed me it would be a limited menu. Now the place was very busy (which may have been the reason for the menu) there was a good atmosphere we have been on several occasions which was why because our anniversary went again.VERY VERY disappointed"

"I took my partner to this restaurant for their birthday, but unfortunately the steak we wanted was not available. We then ordered another steak, only to be told they were out of that as well. Despite being the only customers in the restaurant, the service was not very good. We had to leave and find another place nearby to celebrate my partner's special day. Overall, it was a disappointing end to what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner."

"It's not too far from Kidderminster, and though the car park isn't perfect, it has a lot of character. They go all out to make your visit enjoyable. This is probably the only pub that does an all-day breakfast on a Sunday. There is a lot to choose from on the menu. If you have dietary requirements, they are happy to help. They have a good understanding of gluten-free and cross-contamination. Thexwait from order to food on the table was short. They have a choice if chips sweet potato fries, curly fries, or chunky chips! Staff were friendly, and I was made to feel comfortable. They also cater to people who prefer smaller portion sizes. I'm happy to give this a recommendation. "For a pub, it's decent. They have toy dispensers and it's clean, which makes it suitable for children aged 8 years and older. However, there is no entertainment provided for younger guests. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with a ramp from the car park to the door and no steps inside. The service is good and the meal options are suitable for lunch. The price per person ranges from £20 to £30."
"A warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff. Perhaps not the easiest of places to find, even if you do know your way around as it 's hidden away in a quiet back street in an already quiet village location. We were quickly seated on arrival and drinks soon sorted. An adequate choice on the Sunday Lunch menu, including traditional Sunday Roasts and pub classics. Vegan and vegetarian options. A nice touch that although my wife chose a main that was shown as vegan on the menu, they thoughtfully asked if she was indeed vegan (or vegetarian) before the food arrived so as to tailor accompanying veg/roasties/yorkshire pud accordingly. Starters, mains and desserts were all simply presented, without excessively flamboyant garnishes etc but that 's no criticism, just an observation the food itself was very good indeed. Really enjoyed our starter roasted asparagus with garlic mushrooms. Only minor criticism being that one of the sides (cauliflower cheese) was a bit over browned. Swiftly noted by server and a replacement offered (but declined it really was no big deal). I had the classic beer batter fish with chunky chips. Menu said mushy peas but regular petit pois were served. Superb chunky chips and chef really nailed that beer batter (apparently using Hooky ale seems to work well at any rate delightfully light batter with no soggy bits or over hard bits either). Generous portions all round, so both of us elected to leave a little room for our desserts We both enjoyed our meal and will doubtless be back at some point in the near future."

"Have been here a few times now and have never had a bad meal or bad service. Every time we have been welcomed warmly, seated quickly (pre-booked) and been given the time to relax and make our choices. The wine selection is good and well suited to this place (one bottle certainly makes a reappearance on each visit). But the star of the show are the steaks! Always cooked to perfection and are clearly of high quality. It's a must try if you haven't been.
