Fishers In The City

We are regular diners and always find the food and service of a high standard. Staff are attentive and well trained.

We went for the lunch menu and it was perfect. Just as an indication, I don't have a small appetite! The fish soup is the best I've had.

Quality was great. Service was attentive without being too fussy. Time between courses was just right. Our waitress was so friendly polite and knew her stuff.

My wife and I had a lovely anniversary dinner. I had the mussels best I have ever had my wife had the fish soup which was lovely , we both had fish and chips brilliant

We always enjoy coming to Fishers. Excellent service, good ambiance, great menu. They really understand fish. Sometimes we would like the food to be more heavily seasoned, but that may be us, and it is easier to add than take away.

Staff were excellent and the fish pie special at 10 was good value, but overall this was a disappointing experience compared with a visit to the branch at Leith some years ago. In particular there was a slightly strange smell pervading the place although none of my companions noticed it. I do have an acute sense of smell.

We visited Fishers on a Sunday evening, eating quite early. The restaurant was quiet, which felt a bit strange; we're used to the place being quite buzzing. But, as always, the food didn't disappoint. With so much great choice, we went for the fish and chips from the Favourites menu and starters of Chowder and fish cakes. Service was quick, polite and unobtrusive. Food arrived piping hot. The fish cakes were great, and my other half really enjoyed the bowl of Chowder. The fish and chips we both ordered Haddock was also excellent; the beer batter was crisp and tasty. Well worth a visit if you're in the capital.

On this recent visit to Fishers in the City the food was good but the service was quite poor. The overall impression from our waitress was that she couldn't care less and she showed little interest in or warmth towards us as customers. My main course of monkfish and king prawn curry was, according to the menu, supposed to be served with an accompaniment of poppadoms and mango chutney they failed to arrive when the main courses were served. Not only did she fail to notice this but also she didn't check back a few minutes later to see if all was ok with our main courses. Friends I had birthday lunch here yesterday I must confess to being disappointed. We 've eaten here numerous times in the past. The food was lovely. We were seated by the manager (perhaps? who was attentive however the rest of the service was poor. Although their online menu showed 1/2 lobsters as an option (something I 've enjoyed in the past here it was not on the menu. I asked if it was available (there were 1/2 lobster options on surf turf with scallops was told no. No I 'll check with chef, make enquiries, just no.
