"I have gone to the Garibaldi many times especially under the previous owners who always provided a warm welcome and delicious food 7 days a week. Unfortunately under the new management I have to write a very poor review of a so called Sunday roast and very poor service too. A bit like Fawlty Towers that was filmed around the corner in Bourne End. When I first arrived it took ages for someone to come and ask what we wanted to drink and we were then left for 15 minutes before I had to ask if someone would take my food order. We both went for the large roasts turkey and beef with side vegetables. A couple of locals walk in get drinks and service snd their roasts before us, when our vegetables and roasts arrived they were cold and the meat rare. We had to ask for the meat to be reheated. When I was asked if I wanted another drink they did not have any more Merlot. When our food did come back it was just about edible. We were left for ages after we had finished our mains and had to ask for pudding. The apple pie was reasonable but we had to take our empty pudding plates to the bar as we wanted an Irish coffee and after waiting and no one collecting our empty plates we were then told their coffee machine was not working. Please bear in mind this pub only offers home cooked roasts on a Sunday and the rest of the week they get in out sourced caterers. The so-called land lady did not come around to ask if the food was OK or to welcome new clientele and the pub dog is allowed to roam around and sniff your food. Needless to say we will not be returning but we recommend the Cricketers at Littlewick Green for great service and a fabulous Sunday roast."

"I visited for brunch on Sunday 3rd September with a couple of friends. Their previous experience was good. This was quite the opposite! The attitude of the server was poor but she could have had a bad morning. We sat in the conservatory section and were handed the menus and a drinks order was taken. A few minutes later the server came back to take our food order. I asked for Eggs Benedict and requested that I swap the ham for streaky bacon. The server said she would ask the chef but it would cost more. One of my friends ordered the Salmon Stack and the other Poached Eggs on Sourdough Toast. When the food arrived the problems arose. My friends poached eggs had yolks that were over cooked and the whites looked as though they had been whisked and as a result held a lot of water. She sent that back. A second attempt by your chef I use that term loosely didn’t fare any better. The yolks may not have been over cooked but you could wring the water out of the toast. It was a soggy mess and inedible. This was subsequently returned. My other friends Salmon Stack seemed to be devoid of the key item Salmon! It was literally a potato cake. My eggs Benedict were terrible. Again the eggs were over cooked and had been placed on lettuce on top of the muffin. As a result of having hot eggs placed on the lettuce it became limp and slimy. Around the dish the Chef had added a balsamic reduction swirl which did nothing to enhance the food, or the presentation. Again the eggs hadn’t been drained properly and this destroyed the muffin which was, like my friends toast , a soggy mess. The streaky bacon that I paid an additional £2 for was undercooked and inedible. The member of staff who cleared the table never checked back to see if everything was okay or asked about the food I left. This was probably the worst brunch I have ever had. Your Chef ? needs some serious training in cookery basics."
