"We decided to get a few days away. Overall we had a great stay. Our room (Crawford) based in the cottage. Lovely room with flowers growing in the window boxes. The room itself has limited space to hang your clothes, also has limited surface space. The bathroom is huge and has everything you need. The room was serviced every day, although It could do with a more substantial clean (dust in places and found things that had been left by previous guests) We booked an evening meal on the first night it was awesome, one of the best meals we've had in a while. The staff we fabulous that night. Breakfast was also great and we can't complain about the food. Over our 3 night stay the service at breakfast time varied and the lack of options some mornings on continental breakfast was a little disappointing. Overall Bell The Dragon Churt is a lovely place and has the potential to be awesome. We shall return."

"I had a vegetarian meal here and was placed on a table by the kitchen with cooking meat smells, which made me feel queasy and uncomfortable. I waited over an hour and a half for my food, which was nothing special when it eventually arrived and overpriced at £15 for a veggie burger and chips. I asked for it to be bun less but no reduction in price for this. As I could see into the kitchen, I saw the chef plating up food using his bare hands!! Lots of people were asking the 2 waitresses when their food would arrive. The waitresses looked overworked. One drunk customer was very abusive to the Italian waitress who spoke poor English, which seemed to make him angrier as he struggled to understand her. People were walking out. There was a large outside yard space with tables and chairs, which was a very busy area, so it was loud and noisy with people imbibing alcohol and some to excess. Dog friendly in the yard. Toilets were ok but not great. I definitely won't be back. Food drinks: Overpriced"

"A great gastronomic experience overall. Everything is worth tasting. I highly recommend paying extra for the optional menu items as they were definitely worth it. The drinks were fantastic. The service is on point, and it seems the entire team serves every table together, so you have different people bringing different things. My only criticism is the fact that it's 10 courses over 3.5 hours. It felt a bit long, especially given the wait time between some courses. I think a 5 course menu (and combining the initial 3 finger foods into 1 course) would make more sense."

"We ate here this evening whilst staying in the hotel. When we went to book a table in the restaurant (they don’t take walk-ins even for hotel guests) we were informed that there were no tables for another two hours. As we are frequent travellers and had only booked the hotel a few hours earlier I decided to book, what a mistake I made; even during the process of creating the booking the gentleman walked away to fix a card machine for a colleague. With a one year old baby this was less than ideal but we happily went back at 8pm. We were then made to stand in a queue for another 10 minutes before we were seated. They had forgotten the requested highchair so we reminded the gentleman and he said he’d go and get it. Another 20 minutes later our very helpful waitress arrived to take our drinks order and apologised profusely when we pointed out the missing highchair. Generally the service across the restaurant was poor with a clear lack of management or communication. I’d assume something went really wrong with their service this evening as I don’t remember seeing such poor service for many years. The food was ok when it arrived and the waitress seemed to work hard to make up for the problems we had seen early on. Overall service was 1/5 but through no fault of our hard working waitress. Food quality 3/5 average for a Doubletree. Value for money 1/5 they were charging £32.95 for a steak and £4.50 for a Coke! Almost tourist trap prices, and that’s from somebody who stays in Hilton brand properties several times per month. I’ll review the hotel separately upon checkout and I’ll update Flyertalk also but the poor F&B service has unfortunately let the whole hotel down."

"Six of us yesterday, some had starters of goats cheese croquettes, salt cod, chicory, Roquefort and candied walnuts, then four roast pork, one bouillabaisse and a beetroot wellington. Desserts were tarte tatin, mixed crème brûlée with madeleines and mixed sorbet. It was all snaffled down happily, all was delicious. The roast pork had great crackling, sumptuously melting meat, lovely greens, flavoursome spuds although could have been crispier, and a nice assortment of greens, carrot, parsnip and baby turnip plus a fluffy yorkie and gorgeous gravy. Great service by smiley waitresses, fab afternoon."

"The Rising Sun at Beltinge served all the folk who came along from the HB Dining Group last night. What a lovely meal, all 3 courses where extremely well presented (they looked so nice it was a shame to eat them) and tasted so good. With such a large group of us (20/30) well done for getting the food out in good time. Service was outstanding and we had a lovely night with great food and social chatter. Would definately be returning in the future. Well done all at the Rising Sun"

"the kissed scavengers I've ever seen! this boutique fish monster is hoves' hidden gem. besides selling wonderfully fresh fish they have a caffe, where they serve delicious dishes such as whole smoked makrele, dressed crab, sardelle etc. we chose the fish plate, which is a sample of several of their dishes, which contains anchovy, a hering roll mop, smoked salmon, garn cocktail and oysters. it was delicious, fresh and really good price at £6! we then divided a whole oak smoked makrele £4.70 again, delicious. I would also have ordered a prawn cocktail bap £3), but that would have been too greedy and to be honest, our order was very satisfied. we will be back to enjoy the caffe, but also to check their pre-kept fish. they prepare the fish ready to immerse in the many that can contain spicy and butter. this place is a rareness. their products are fresh and honest. they make the purchase and the fish a real pleasure."

"This was wonderful. There is no doubt I was satisfied. Food was great , service great, good experience all round. However, and I am bringing out the inner critic in me here, there are some bits worth mentioning. This was a lot of money; £150pp. So, for that, you expect a lot. The food was undoubtedly very nice and well considered. The flavours were wonderful. The presentation interesting (albeit a little style over substance at some points why butter is served on a stone I don’t know). We had the five courses with wine. And I couldn’t fault the flavour of either. So now comes to the ‘but’: 1. For that price, it would have been nice for the chef to have shown their face at some point during the proceedings. 2. The pace between course was slightly faster than I would have liked but that is a personal preference. 3. Not enough butter for the bread. 4. It is a small and close environment, with no soft furnishings, so the sound echoed a little. That would be fine (as it was small) but we had a drunk and rowdy table near by and fun as that is it was loud for us. 5. I wanted more story; where did the food come from, who was the chef, why here and now. Notwithstanding that all picky and un necessary excellent food/ excellent experience/ excellent evening. Thanks P"

"13 of us came together for a family celebration. We were in the private section with a long table. It was lovely. Everyone ordered different starters, main meal and desserts. Food was amazing, service was fantastic. We all had a really lovely time. Big thank you to all the staff who made it happen xxx Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"My wife suggested we go in for the Croque Monsieur or Madame, after googling I wasn 't massively enfranchised at the idea of a toasted sandwich but decided to go along with it. Obviously added an egg to the mix because, why not? It arrived, beautifully presented and I have to say I truly ate my words. It wasn 't a toasted sandwich but an exercise in perfection. Great service, a great latte and a little cafe doggo that greeted you and desired a fuss. I will be visiting again the next time I 'm in the area."

"My partner and I have visited this restaurant twice now - the first time with my parents - and it has been a wonderful discovery! The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy. We were pleasantly surprised by the Halloween decorations during our first visit, especially the fake blood writing on the men's bathroom mirror. It was a nice touch! The restaurant is also dog-friendly, and the staff clearly enjoys having dogs around. Just a heads up, the restaurant is a bit off the main road and the road leading to it is narrow, so be cautious when driving there. Despite the location, it is definitely worth a visit!"

"Went here with family 1st visit for a long time, very nice finish to the interior of the Pub itself. Very comfy surroundings and cosy atmosphere, open plan ceiling with lovely exposed wooden beams. Staff very attentive and shown to table quickly on arrival, was asked if we had any allergies before we ordered which was good. Not too busy for a mid week visit, but already had some shortages on the menu which is always a shame to hear. The menu is quite varied with good selection to accommodate most people. I had the Chicken leek and bacon pie which was ok, if I was too be picky it was slightly overcooked which made the pie crust quite hard. It was served on top of mashed potato, and served with vegetables and gravy. Well the vegetables were well overcooked and there was not a lot of them either, I always find that these places do not give a very generous portion of vegetables. When you consider they go on about making sure you eat your 5 a day, I am sorry but this falls far short of that, and it is one of the cheaper items on you're plate could do better. On saying that I will return at sometime and give it another go, but not in the immediate future. Parking: Car park is over the road, but it's very dark on the winter nights. Kid-friendliness: Didn't see any kids so not sure if they do kids menu, you would have to call and check."

"Local produce from their own farm which is really cool and you can taste the quality in the food. Really nice views across the downs, the venue and surrounds are really nice! Been a few times and food is decent, maybe overpriced for some dishes that weren’t spot on, marked down a star this time just because my Girlfriends burger was a bit dry and when paying a lot you expect the simple dishes on the menu to be perfect, also, although they offer food for allergens they don’t have a menu which clearly states which food is safe for people with allergies and some of the staff were a bit vague on this, this can make those guests feel like they are being difficult, or worry if what they are getting is safe to eat for them, due to cross contamination etc if dishes get mixed up. Having said that, every member of staff was super friendly and helpful, they even brought out a birthday pud for my mum which was a really nice touch! Just think management should provide a bit more awareness/training on allergies."

"Lovely setting and nice staff. The food was excellent but be careful what you order! We had two of the pasta dishes which were lovely but overpriced and poor value for money (essentially it worked out at £3 a mouthful! . It’s a shame because we were really excited to eat here and seeing the pizza and fish that came out for other tables at pretty much the same price point we definitely just chose wrong! We were also the one of the first tables in for the lunch sitting and though I totally understand the small plates style of dining where your food just comes when it’s ready BUT it did feel like ours was rushed through (we hadn’t finished one before the others arrived and then struggled to find room on the table . Without meaning to at all we were practically in and out the place in half an hour great service but sometimes when you’re spending £70 on lunch you at least want the experience to last! try and read your tables!"

"This quaint green cafe on the corner of Coburg Street is a real hidden gem, if you haven’t already been here I urge you to do so next time you feel a little peckish or severely famished (anywhere in between is also acceptable). To start with the service in this cafe is impeccable, the owner (Ana) is so welcoming and provides a great sense of humour at no extra cost. Ana’s husband Mikael, the talented chef, is also incredibly friendly often bringing out meals to customers himself, this warm family atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The menu has a wide selection on offer with specials changing often to keep things fresh, you can probably tell I’ve been here on a number of...read more"

"Very warm (actually I liked a warmer place as it was a very cold night outside) welcoming venue. Great food and drink. Staff were careful to ask for anything we needed just at the right time without pushing customer. Waiting period for serving was very good. Bill was very accurate pleasantly brought when asked. Staff were on foot around. Many other good details. I expected a French staff but absolutely alright with current lovely people. Dietary restrictions: Salt"

"A bunch of us came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was a great experience. The restaurant is quite small with pretty basic decor, but that all adds to the rustic feel. The most important thing is the food, and that was delicious. We shared Oysters and I ordered the crab cakes for a starter and the sea bass for the main. The oysters were excellent quality and the sea bass off the bone was cooked to perfection. It was all washed down with a couple of bottles of crisp white wine that made for a most enjoyable afternoon. The bill came to £64 per person, which was reasonable considering the amount of top quality food we devoured! "I had booked a table for 16 following my grandmother’s funeral. I called up on the way to the venue to ask if they could increase to 18 and they accommodated us with no issue. They had given us a wonderful raised corner area and the service was exceptional. There was a table with glasses and water already in place. We were looked after by the receptionist on arrival, the bar staff sorted us with our settling in drinks at the bar and the one waitress who looked after us was incredible. The food was hot, delicious and prompt. Everything we ordered was delivered and to the person who’d ordered it. We stayed for over 3 hours celebrating our relative and enjoying each other’s company, reminiscing and looking at photos, in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Thank you Miller Carter Tanworth Lane, Shirley, Solihull you were exceptional."

"I never write reviews for restaurants, but after our meal last night I felt compelled to write one for this beautiful little place! I and my friend heard of this place by some of his work friends (clear the word is widespread!, and we decided to go there. they can bring their own weeping that was really beautiful! it is really a tiny place, but filled with so much atmosphere - there was a man who played the piano in the corner. the waitress was beautiful and explained to us the menu - there were 3 appetizers, 3 nets and various puddings. we chose a pasta and a garnel, along with an avocado mozarella and tomatensalat. neither court could I blame, both were so tasty! for the net we had seabread, and a chicken dish - both with sweet again, so delicious. what the whole experience is made beautiful that they can see reno cooking her eating, as the kitchen is quite open to you to see. everything was made fresh and was really interesting to watch. we were too full for pudding, but reno sent us about some small sweet pieces of wafer and creamy ricotta- we were told what they were called but I can't remember now! but they were beautiful and exactly what we needed when none of us could have ended a whole desert. a beautiful little touch. we then sat comfortably and ended our wein, we didn't feel hurryed or a necessity to finish. reno came over the chat to us, and they can see that he is really thrilled and loves what he does. At the end of the evening, someone started from another group of people to play and sing. reno entered, and turns out that he is a dab hand, not only cook, but also sing. if they want to eat amazing, a personal note and something else, please give this place one away. reno told us that they will soon open the cellar to care for more people - clear, the word spreads over this place, and we will certainly also spread the word. x"
