"The Rising Sun at Beltinge served all the folk who came along from the HB Dining Group last night. What a lovely meal, all 3 courses where extremely well presented (they looked so nice it was a shame to eat them) and tasted so good. With such a large group of us (20/30) well done for getting the food out in good time. Service was outstanding and we had a lovely night with great food and social chatter. Would definately be returning in the future. Well done all at the Rising Sun"

"really good service, great food! I came to Valentine's Day and with some quite difficult allergies meant that I did not serve the pizza before the meal or one of the sauces with the net. they were more than accommodating, made me another cocktail drink and a completely new sauce to go with my steak. definitely recommend when looking for good eating in bath!"

"We visited here on Saturday afternoon. On arrival we were escorted to our table near the door, so requested another table away from the door. We were seated further away near a radiator and the window. We ordered drinks and food . The starter arrived and to be honest was very tasty . The problem we had was the restaurant was freezing . We had spoken to the waitress about the room temperature and she said the heating was turned off , but would turn it on . This would have taken time to warm the restaurant . She also said they had some heaters but did not know where they were . We decided to cancel the main course and leave, of course we paid for what we had eaten and drank. She offered to sit us somewhere else , but we was both cold . I did notice other guest wearing coats. Given the status and the pricing of this restaurant you would expect a warm environment. I did send a compliant via their website, but have not received anything back."

"Business trip, there’s not much in this area of Norwich east anglia so it’s slim pickings when it comes to accommodation. Most places are full of workers on various construction projects. The rooms were clean and basic, everything you’d need really. Breakfast was fine, we didn’t eat in the evening but the place was cold and could do with the fire on or some heating. Food stops 8:45 and the whole place doesn’t open to 4pm which is quite strange. Would probably stay again as nothing else around and it does the job. Rooms: 3 Service: 4 Location: 3 Hotel highlights: Great value"

"We popped in for a drink today. We ordered a large wine and a rockstar martini. The bill came to £28. We paid and proceeded to sit down at a table. We looked through the menu as we were considering lunch and saw that the average price of a glass of wine was £8.50. It therefore seemed ridiculous that we had been charged £28 for 2 drinks. I approached the person who served us to query the situation. She informed me that she had charged us for 2x small glasses as we had asked for a large. This could have been acceptable if she had informed us of this instead of making up a charge of her own. I asked her if I could speak to a manger and she informed me that she was the manager. She offered no apology, she did offer to refund £8.50 which we accepted but my drink tasted sour after that. We quickly exited the establishment and will not be returning there any time soon."

"It's no wonder why this quaint location is so popular, we were so lucky to squeeze in with only a 5 minute wait. The food was beautifully cooked (I had the steak and Stilton sub) the king prawn and avocado sub was equally as impressive. The view (if you're lucky enough to get a window seat) is just lovely. Light music in the background, the staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The head of house worked his butt off whilst we were there to ensure everyone was as happy as they could be. Even people with an hour wait were satisfied with a drinks table whilst they waited. Highly recommend this venue, maybe book in advance as people turned away appeared more than disappointed."

"I visited for brunch on Sunday 3rd September with a couple of friends. Their previous experience was good. This was quite the opposite! The attitude of the server was poor but she could have had a bad morning. We sat in the conservatory section and were handed the menus and a drinks order was taken. A few minutes later the server came back to take our food order. I asked for Eggs Benedict and requested that I swap the ham for streaky bacon. The server said she would ask the chef but it would cost more. One of my friends ordered the Salmon Stack and the other Poached Eggs on Sourdough Toast. When the food arrived the problems arose. My friends poached eggs had yolks that were over cooked and the whites looked as though they had been whisked and as a result held a lot of water. She sent that back. A second attempt by your chef I use that term loosely didn’t fare any better. The yolks may not have been over cooked but you could wring the water out of the toast. It was a soggy mess and inedible. This was subsequently returned. My other friends Salmon Stack seemed to be devoid of the key item Salmon! It was literally a potato cake. My eggs Benedict were terrible. Again the eggs were over cooked and had been placed on lettuce on top of the muffin. As a result of having hot eggs placed on the lettuce it became limp and slimy. Around the dish the Chef had added a balsamic reduction swirl which did nothing to enhance the food, or the presentation. Again the eggs hadn’t been drained properly and this destroyed the muffin which was, like my friends toast , a soggy mess. The streaky bacon that I paid an additional £2 for was undercooked and inedible. The member of staff who cleared the table never checked back to see if everything was okay or asked about the food I left. This was probably the worst brunch I have ever had. Your Chef ? needs some serious training in cookery basics."

"We placed our drink orders, and after about ten minutes, our young waiter returned to take our food orders. I decided to try Camembert cheese for the first time, and it was an excellent choice! It came with a chutney, a salad garnish, a mix of wafer-thin crackers, and a piece of baguette—it was fantastic. My wife ordered the chicken and mushroom spring rolls, which she thoroughly enjoyed as well. For our main courses, I chose the Yorkshire steak and ale pie with chips and gravy, which was incredible. My wife opted for the pan-roasted salmon with Dauphinois potatoes and roasted vegetables, and that was also delicious. We decided to indulge in desserts, and my wife had a trio of chocolate, while I went for the coconut cake—so good! I had two pints of Leodis Camp, while my partner enjoyed a gin and tonic followed by two glasses of white wine. I must say, this was one of the best meals we’ve had in the last few years. The atmosphere was relaxed and not overcrowded, the service was excellent, and the value for money was impressive. Plus, I learned about an app where you can collect points for a free main course on your next visit. Without a doubt, we will return. Thank you very much! Andy and Mandy."

"With an all-in cost of £75 per person (including water taxi and tip), we expected to feel like we couldn’t wait to return. Instead, we left thinking it was a night to forget; maybe it was an off night for the cook or perhaps they were just having a bad day. Perhaps it’s the end of the season and some have lost interest? Let me start with the positives: the location is excellent. A beautiful autumn sunset and calm waters made for a lovely arrival. The service was decent, and there’s no complaint on that front. However, the meal itself was extremely average. We’re not food snobs, but we could have prepared a better dinner ourselves at home. The crispy squid was anything but crispy, and the scallops, priced at £5 each, lost their delicate flavor. As for the plaice, it was hardly legal catch size and may have even fallen under the limit. There was barely any meat on each fish, and we struggled to peel it from the bone. Moreover, the plate was overloaded with unnecessary garnish, which only added to the disappointment. The preparation and presentation felt amateurish and mediocre, as if the dishes were hurriedly thrown together. We would have been better off at Rockfish or Neil’s in Sidmouth, which would have cost much less and provided far better quality fish. We're genuinely sorry to say that our experience at River Exe Restaurant was not enjoyable. We’re not the type to complain for the sake of it, but had we been dining alone and not with friends, we might have even sent our main course back. We can only hope this was an off night for them and that better experiences await others. However, we certainly won’t be rushing back, even if someone else is footing the bill."

"Absolutely disgusted at the way my Husband has just been treated in this establishment. Came for our anniversary meal at recommendation of work collegues being new to the area following moving up from England. We asked for a table for 2, which we were given a booth straight away. After this we waited over 15 mins for a menu, i was on the verge of walking at this point to be honest, looked at numerous times by the staff but no menu. A girl came over with the menu which she brought over, we ordered 2 drinks. When the bar woman brought the drinks over she informed my husband it was a non sports pub not allowing team colours and he was not allowed to wear the top he was wearing, which was a long sleeve Rangers training jumper. I had to watch my husband shamed in to taking his jumper off in a pub AFTER ordering our drinks. He was stood at the bar when i asked for a table should it not of been mentioned then when noticed? There is no mention of this on the website and certainly not on entering the pub, no signs what so ever. I paid for the drinks and left. I will never return to this place no matter who tells me great reviews. I suggest your staff put a notice on the website and the foyer window if this is how you feel. An English gentleman from Manchester, surrounded by 4 great teams (city, utd, Liverpool and Everton) made to take of an insignificant Scottish team top is disgusting. For those reading this review, we had a lovely meal and drinks else where spending £100 quid. There loss is another restaurants gain!"

"Went in for my birthday on 27th December. Very busy indeed. Great vibe, lovely pub. The service was impeccable by who I presume was the flamboyant owner. Very nice and attentive by all staff. Why 3 stars? I ordered the turkey pie. The flavours were excellent, although the parmesan mash was a bit skimpy and over processed (mash needs a bit of body to it). However, the main thing was the pie was essentially a soup--remove the pastry top and it was liquid underneath, with turkey floating in it. Once I had finished the pie, the bowl was still half full with liquid. Very odd indeed and simply should not be served from the kitchen My wife ordered the deep fried camembert salad. Again, this was an over mixed leaf salad where one could not taste the constituent parts (beetroot, tomatoes, walnuts etc) as they had all been mixed in and tossed in an over tart balsamic glaze. Keep leaves separate from other elements, and let the subtle elements speak for themselves. We had to drive for 40 mins, so likely wont come back as not special enough. However, if we lived nearer we def would. Suspect the above dishes were slight curveballs and I am being hard with the stars as a soup pie is unacceptable but I am sure the pub does excellent grub elsewhere and service was impeccable."

"The Hurtwood Inn Hotel in Peaselake is truly a hidden gem! The staff is exceptionally friendly and always ready to assist you with a smile. Their warm hospitality makes you feel right at home. The rates are surprisingly affordable, providing a five-star experience that won’t hurt your wallet. The rooms are impeccably clean, featuring fresh bedding and all the comforts you would expect from a top-tier hotel. Whether you're into mountain biking, hiking, or just looking for some peace in the serene surroundings of the Surrey Hills, this place is perfect. Just a short 40-minute trip from London, it’s my favorite stop, especially for those commuting to and from the city. Every visit is a delight, and I wholeheartedly recommend it! #HurtwoodInn #AmazingStaff #BudgetFriendlyLuxury #SurreyHillsRetreat"

"I visited this restaurant with friends after finding it online, as we are not residents in the area. We could not have made a better choice, as we had a delightful evening being looked after by the lovely Olivia. The restaurant was quite busy for a Tuesday evening, which added to the pleasant atmosphere. The dining area was contemporary and well-lit. The food was outstanding, although we were a bit disappointed to have missed out on the special of sole. However, the sea bass we chose instead was amazing! The feta mash was also delicious. We all enjoyed three courses, as the menu had so many tempting options. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return if I am in the area again. Thank you for a wonderful evening, La Quinta."

"At my recent lunch at Bonhams with Kang, he mentioned about his recent meal at Clove Club and how the kitchen were doing some amazing things. He is of course a very knowledgeable and well-travelled foodie, so when he speaks you have to listen. Booking a table here is tricky, given its pre-paid ticketing system. Depending on what time you choose to dine, you may have to pay up front for your table – up to £95 pp for the prime dining hours. As I was on my annual leave, we decided to pop in for a mid-week lunch and opting for an early 12pm table, meant that we did not have to pay anything up front."

"A bunch of us came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was a great experience. The restaurant is quite small with pretty basic decor, but that all adds to the rustic feel. The most important thing is the food, and that was delicious. We shared Oysters and I ordered the crab cakes for a starter and the sea bass for the main. The oysters were excellent quality and the sea bass off the bone was cooked to perfection. It was all washed down with a couple of bottles of crisp white wine that made for a most enjoyable afternoon. The bill came to £64 per person, which was reasonable considering the amount of top quality food we devoured! "piept! from the minute we came to our departure, we were blown away from the hospitality of all the staff. friendly, smiling and went beyond and beyond to make our stay perfect. and it was! the cleanliness of the room and the environment was absolutely impeccable, not a spot of dust or spinnwebe in itself! our room was small, but there was nothing lacking, so much thought has gone into the finer details. we had tapas in our first night and it was delicious. we have been quite often gone, but I don't sleep well in a strange bed, but the bed was so comfortable I slept all night, luck! can't recommend this facility and if they could give more than 5*, I would give more! only what I would ask them to change would be the plastic straws at the bar. paper is better for our environment."

"For our appetizers, we both ordered the scallops. They were large, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious. I chose the red deer for my main course, which was juicy and tender, while my wife had the beef, which was equally delightful. For dessert, we indulged in the apricot frangipani tart and chocolate mousse—both were exceptional. Overall, we had a fantastic meal at a reasonable price. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the selection and quality of wines by the glass. If you find yourself near Dundee, definitely book a table here and treat yourself to a wonderful dining experience!"

"We had booked a table for and were seated downstairs, we placed an order for drinks and the waitress was gone as soon as we had said which bottle of wine, with no option to order anything else (like water). After the wine was...brought to the table we waited for someone to take our food order, no one came to take the food order until (after being called over). They were very apologetic and comped the wine, but the experience was kind of ruined at that point. The starters and main courses were delicious, as were the cocktails. The deserts were not great, dishes which are normally very enjoyable with odd ingredients added, to make them more unique, but which just made them unpleasant. This was a very different experience to any I’ve had here before."

"My wife suggested we go in for the Croque Monsieur or Madame, after googling I wasn 't massively enfranchised at the idea of a toasted sandwich but decided to go along with it. Obviously added an egg to the mix because, why not? It arrived, beautifully presented and I have to say I truly ate my words. It wasn 't a toasted sandwich but an exercise in perfection. Great service, a great latte and a little cafe doggo that greeted you and desired a fuss. I will be visiting again the next time I 'm in the area."
