"We enjoyed a most pleasant family meal at The Fox Inn last Sunday during a short break in Suffolk. We were staying elsewhere. Our group of nine included 3 children and 2 vegetarians. We were all able to chose nice options from the menu, most of us going for one of the roasts. My husband and I chose Vegetarian Wellington and enjoyed our meals very much and there was no difficulty when we asked for more gravy. The staff were pleasant and helpful throughout and I hope we will be able to visit again. Service: 5 Location: 5"

"I've taken everyone I've been to Denis' with, and they've all loved it. The food is amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it! As for kid-friendliness, this is a family-owned restaurant, so families with children are very warmly welcomed. We usually go for dinner, and the price per person is around £20–30."

"I wanted to share my recent experience at the restaurant after dining there tonight. Once again, it was an excellent evening. The restaurant was packed, but there was enough staff to ensure that the service was calm, courteous, and seamless. We were a group of five, and all our different dishes arrived simultaneously, complemented by great wine service. The food consistently exceeds my expectations. My fish dish was exceptional. As a French restaurant, you can always expect a top-notch French ambiance, especially for the younger crowd. As a regular patron, it was a delightful touch to be greeted with a pastis from the head waiter, who clearly remembers the preferences of the guests, enhancing the overall experience."

"As you'll see from my review history, I very very rarely post a bad review except in exceptional circumstances. This was one of these. I was expecting a lovely three course meal in a cosy pub out of London, based on the reviews. We were looking for a bit of a treat, as I was catching up with an old colleague (of a charity we both worked for) and her partner (CEO of a Mental Health charity). However I was severely dissappinted and appalled at how they treated us. The barman was gracious on arrival but the waitress who served us (couldn't have been much over 16) was absolutely clueless and seemed to not care about her job or the customers under her service. She was clueless about the menu when queried and kept having to nip off to the kitchen to ask, whilst giving us strange looks for having questions about the food/ breads/ menu. We felt judged, immediatly. When the food finally arrived we had ordered a sharing Camembert. The camembert was delicious but the bread it came with was burnt, unevenly sliced and looked, quite simply, like it was from the bottom of the barrel. Why the chef thought that exceptable to serve I have no idea. Not a good start. Next I had a vegetarian main (curry with cauliflower rice), from a very limited veggie menu. Quite frankly, it was bland. I make much better at home. When chased, the service was rude and the landlady/ manager was abrupt with us for having some issues, despite us being warm and kind to her always giving the pub the benefit of the doubt. I was not even offered a dessert menu. Finally, the ambience was soul sucking. It was quiet and joyless, like eating in an old folks home. In fact some people near us got told to quieten down, despite it being early on a Saturday evening. Just such a shame that the staff and food don't live up to the hype. Genuinely would not recommend this place to anyone. Not worth your time, energy. Vegetarian options: Poor. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

"we have been at the red lion for many years and have always enjoyed our meal. we went on Saturday afternoon and were really surprised that usually very busy, there were only a few in the entire restaurant. when we saw the new menu, we understood why. the price of the meal had increased a lot and the choice of the food had stopped! I am an insulin-dependent diabetic and there was only one thing suitable on the menu (i.e. low carbohydrate) it was a chicken dish that I had minus, (because of the carbohydrates) the sosse, roasted vegetables and chips, but I replaced this with an salate. I often had a beautiful salat on red lions, but this time it consisted of a lot of rocket, a few thin slices of rettich, small cherry tomato and red bevel, not what I would call a good salat. a very unsatisfactory meal. I left the restaurant hunger, the prices have much more expensive, there were no fish except a very expensive sole, and only a steak a sirloin at!! everything in all we could understand why the restaurant was so empty on a Saturday afternoon! I doubt that we will come back until a diabetic friendly and reasonable menu is used."

"Perfection in paradise! Tucked away in a sleepy corner of the Lake District is Crosthwaite and it's marvellous pub, The Punchbowl Inn. Having braved fog and torrential rain , we were greeted with freshly baked Scones , clotted cream and cups of tea. mine was Gluten Free and incredible!! All the staff were kind, friendly ,professional and greeted guests with such enthusiasm that we felt welcome for our entire stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast during our stay and both were exceptionally good. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Quiet"

"Visited here in Sept 23 for an executive dinner that we were hosting for various senior business leaders. We booked out the whole venue, which was the perfect size and atmosphere for the intimate and exclusive feel that we wanted, plus a convenient location. The TV that shows into the kitchen was fascinating, and the record player was put to use towards the end of the evening! Caroline from the venue helped us organise the event in advance and was great to deal with. We were fortunate with the weather so were able to enjoy a welcome drinks reception out the front of the venue, and have the door open all evening to let the balmy night in. We had the 7 course taster menu and it was simply OUTSTANDING so many of our guests commented on how delicious it was, particularly the beef steak course! It was so tasty that I even enjoyed the fish dish (not usual for me! . Service on the night was exemplary, the courses were brought out at just the right intervals so you weren't waiting ages but also not being rushed. The chef came out to greet us after the final course, which was a lovely touch and meant we could thank him. Overall, we had really great feedback from our guests, everyone loved it thank you for making our event such a success! We would definitely book again, and I know a few of our guests have already recommended it to their own companies for executive dinners! Would not hesitate to recommend."

"I had a short break with my sister and stayed for a couple of nights. The B B, restaurants in the area were all wonderful. The hosts at the B B were superb and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. The breakfast was really delicious with fresh fruits, granola and croissants and pastries. The garden terrace is lovely at the side of the cafe. Rooms: The room had good facilities, toiletries, nice views and is comfortable. It was nice eating breakfast outside on the garden terrace. Nearby activities: Helmsley has enough quirky shops to explore over a day or two Walkability: There are many things within walking distance the walled garden, the castle and Helmsley outdoor pool. Food drinks: There are some good restaurants in the area which we booked in advance. The Bantram and the Trattoria did good food. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Great view"

"We stayed for one night recently, with dinner in the evening. The food was good, though perhaps not the most inventive for a tasting menu. The wine pairing was excellent. The room was 'okay ', some nice original features, but really let down by a bathroom that 's windowless, very small and cheaply outfitted (chrome coated plastic, basic electric shower, mirror with a power button on it, mouldy holder) – it feels out of step with the aesthetic of the rest of the room and it 's telling you don 't see much of it on the website when booking. The overall impression was a little underwhelming. It was a needed change of scene but we are unlikely to return."

"18 of Killicomaine Jubilee Club went here for our Christmas Lunch. The room was freezing a member of staff did bring a tiny fan heater out). No Christmas decorations on the tables, not even a cracker or Christmas napkins. No background music. The turkey parcels were only half ones, one cocktail sausage, one roast potato and mashed potatoes Roast beef dinner consisted of 2 wafer thin slices and same as above without the cocktail sausage. Plenty of vegetables. The dessert wasn't the greatest either. Our end of year meal and venue was so disappointing. One of the members described it as soulless and that's what it was at a cost of £19.95 each. Not a bit of wonder we were the only one's there"

"Used to stop here for the great bacon rolls. Previous stop realised that they had changed the bacon, not so streaky and fattier so decided to ask for poached eggs on brown toast. Waited for some time and eventually served at the table with brown bread resembling cardboard and 2 hard boiled , but supposedly poached eggs! Spoke to a young lady who was table serving and asked who would have carried out the “poaching ” which she admitted being responsible. It was pointed out to her that poached eggs should not be hard boiled and that we were very disappointed. She offered to get the manager to come and see us. Few minutes later a young man came through and immediately accused us of being nasty to the lady. He was advised that we were perfectly within our rights to point out the failing and in no way had we been nasty. At this point the lady came over, had obviously been crying, and was asked by us if we had been nasty to which she replied no and apologised. The young man was advised that if he wished to speak to his customers he should get the facts straight before making such accusations. He was also asked where the manager was and replied that he was busy in the kitchen so wasn’t coming out to speak to us. The restaurant at this time was almost empty. It was pointed out that this was a terrible lack of appreciation to his customers and we left. It was also observed that on several occasions the young lads that were carrying through plates with buns there on were holding the buns on the plate with their fingers, total lack of hygiene. Won’t be back!"

"We were there for 3 nights and were delighted with the house. Rooms nicely decorated. Beds comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and spacious. The living room was charming with a sofa bed which was very comfortable. It's autumn, so there wasn't much to explore, but it was a charming little town, so the walks were very pleasant. Close to shops. Parking 5 minutes from the apartment. A lovely Italian restaurant right next door which served us dinner in a nice Italian atmosphere. Great holiday with the family, so we recommend it."

"Incredible five-star spa in Surrey! The spa itself is stunning, featuring two 20-meter swimming pools and excellent facilities. The hospitality and service are top-notch! There's also a fantastic bar and a Japanese restaurant. It's a beautiful venue, but it comes with a hefty price tag. The Japanese restaurant is quite expensive, with everything costing a premium; a glass of Moët is priced at £28! A meal for two can easily reach £300, even with a modest half bottle of wine. The food is outstanding, though, likely even pricier than places in Mayfair! Overall, I give it a 5/5. Just be prepared to spend around £1,000 to £1,200 per day, including accommodation!"

"Whilst staying in Guildford I was attracted to this restaurant by the fish stew and I was not disappointed, it had everything I would expect in a brasserie in France, of which I have eaten in many. My husband had the Noël 3 course Christmas special and enjoyed the variety on offer. I did not have a starter but tasted bits of the starter my husband had. Because I was fairly full up after the fish stew I had the lighter Café Gourmand 3 miniature desserts with coffee, popular in France they were a perfect finish to the meal. There was a buzz in the smallish restaurant, something you take for granted in Europe but don’t always get in the UK. The staff were friendly helpful. I was so impressed that I have booked a table for 4 In Edinburgh, when I visit next week. I hope it’s as good as the Guildford Côte."

"**Dine-In Experience Meal Type:** Dinner **Cost per Person:** £100+ **Food Rating:** 4/5 **Service Rating:** 4/5 **Atmosphere Rating:** 3/5 Overall, I had a pleasant evening at the restaurant. The food was quite good, earning a solid 4 out of 5. The service was also commendable, matching that score. However, the atmosphere felt a bit lacking, which is why it's rated a 3. While I enjoyed my meal, the ambiance could use some improvement to enhance the overall dining experience."

"This will be a brief review as we drove by on a Sunday morning on a trip that had been planned quickly and this was on our route to somewhere else. This place is in a very small village on the Main Street. It's a place we would normally never be in on a Sunday. As we drove by, we saw from an on street blackboard that they offered a Sunday roast dinner for £4.95 this is a price that you could hardly make it for. Long story short we pulled up and bought one; turkey and ham. The dish had really generous slices of the two meats as well as carrots, parsnips and Brussels sprouts. All the food was tasty and its remarkable they can offer this value on quality. We think gravy was offered but found when we got home there was no potato, which was a surprise as it's a dinner staple in these parts. It was still quite early on in the day we did throw the lady server a bit asking fir lunch at that early time and maybe the spuds just weren't ready but that aside the portions, quality and genuine value for money that was offered was excellent."

"Have eaten at Halliday’s on many occasions! Always welcomed with a smile at this family run business. The menu always has something that catches your eye, featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, Andy chef patron has an eye for detail and a wealth of experience in the kitchen. Not only does this restaurant have a great menu, but throughout lock down they started a great value tasty takeaway service. Since lock down has eased we have experienced two fantastic outside dining events, board and barrel, paella afuera evening "

"Been a few times over the years and always really impressed, last night however was the opposite. Food is really overpriced, its not a 5 star hotel after all ! £18,50 for a basic fish and chips is ridiculous. Service was poor , not offered any water for our table even tho the couple across from us were . Chef forgot to put a potato croquet on my plate so the waitress brought it out on a tea plate 5 mins later . Didnt get asked how our meal was or offered more drinks when we had emptys sotting infront of us. Place was empty , says alot at 6pm on a Friday night . Won't be back."

"A friend recommended their Thai food night on Wednesdays, and wow, what a delight! It’s a friendly, cozy village pub, and the food was outstanding. Some of our group preferred mildly spiced dishes, while others wanted something a bit hotter, and we were not disappointed— the flavors were incredible. The recommended wine was a bold French choice that perfectly complemented the meal. The landlords were very welcoming, greeting us with a literal warm atmosphere around the blazing log fire in the bar area. I highly recommend it... enjoy!"

"We received a very warm and friendly welcome at the restaurant. I tried the naan bread pizza, which was delicious and quite enjoyable. For dessert, I had a slice of cheesecake that was also delightful, and I made sure to let the staff know how much I loved it. We always visit this place every year during our holiday, and it never disappoints!"
