"Used to stop here for the great bacon rolls. Previous stop realised that they had changed the bacon, not so streaky and fattier so decided to ask for poached eggs on brown toast. Waited for some time and eventually served at the table with brown bread resembling cardboard and 2 hard boiled , but supposedly poached eggs! Spoke to a young lady who was table serving and asked who would have carried out the “poaching ” which she admitted being responsible. It was pointed out to her that poached eggs should not be hard boiled and that we were very disappointed. She offered to get the manager to come and see us. Few minutes later a young man came through and immediately accused us of being nasty to the lady. He was advised that we were perfectly within our rights to point out the failing and in no way had we been nasty. At this point the lady came over, had obviously been crying, and was asked by us if we had been nasty to which she replied no and apologised. The young man was advised that if he wished to speak to his customers he should get the facts straight before making such accusations. He was also asked where the manager was and replied that he was busy in the kitchen so wasn’t coming out to speak to us. The restaurant at this time was almost empty. It was pointed out that this was a terrible lack of appreciation to his customers and we left. It was also observed that on several occasions the young lads that were carrying through plates with buns there on were holding the buns on the plate with their fingers, total lack of hygiene. Won’t be back!"

This is a great place to have your breakfast or a bacon roll. There’s nothing fancy or pretentious about the Horn , which makes it just perfect. I’ll definitely be back and would be worth a visit if you’re hungry

Under cooked food. I travel a lot and love a greasy spoon cafe, but this goes above and beyond to not make the grade. Highly disappointed left my food and walked out today. No point in complaining to kids. Avoid.

Mixed bag here . Soup tasted lovely , but not hot enough. The home bakes were lovely .,A very basic “cafe “ menu some of which dishes very heavy and fatty .from looking around, some meals looked better than others.

Went for a breakfast which was ok at best. The decor is from the 1970s really needs a complete revamp. The toilets were disgustingly dirty in the urinal area. The stained walls havn,t been cleaned in what looked like years. Enviromental health needs to visit this place View menu

Visited the Horn many times and never had a bad experience, and thankfully this time was no different. Bit of a queue but got served quickly for a roll and steak link sausage which was really tasty. It’s a shame to see so many negative reviews, which I’m not sure are always deserved. I’ll be back again for sure.

Ordered pie, beans and gravy. Waited ages on my food , when it arrived the beans were cold and the pie was horrible. Complained and go a refund. Still hungry so ordered one of their so called famous bacon rolls to go. It was one of the worse bacon rolls I have ever eaten. Bacon was way over cooked and it was just terrible. I will never go back to this rip -off place ever!!!

This has always been a place we'd stop at for a bacon roll, when on our travels. They used to do the most amazing bacon rolls. However, the last couple of times we have been the rolls have been inedible. They are not soft and fall to bits when trying to eat them and the bacon inside was fatty and undercooked. We thought the first time was maybe just an off day, so gave them another chance. After this visit, they certainly won't be getting another one. View menu

Stopped on way home to Aberdeen after spending the previous night in Edinburgh visiting the Christmas Market. We wish we hadn’t. Myself my partner both had bacon rolls, the girl serving said we might have to wait as she was away to make a fresh batch of bacon, we asked if it could be crispy, we shouldn’t have, it was the grossest bacon I’ve ever tasted in my life. Within the first 3 bites I had the hickups as the bacon was thick and dry but greasy. I think they either deep fat fry it or it was in an air fryer and way over cooked. That wasn’t the worst part, the worst thing was the dirt EVERYWHERE! Chairs, tables, the floor, window ledges, fire safety door, toilets it was all horrendous, I ho...

The horn was a very much talked about quant wee place to stop once upon a time. We're heading off down south and have passed several places to stop off at as we just fancied something at THE HORN. Wow . How sad to see a successful cafe go to pot . The staff were downright rude. A plump girl with blond hair tied back and a dark haired skinny woman on the till. Not sure which charm school they'd been at but it never learnt them courtesy /politeness. The looks on the faces when we went in said it all. . Welcome line. RIGHT WHAT CAN A GET YEZ. No eye contact . Standing with pen and paper at the ready . . Gave my order and asked for a cup of tea plse . YE GET THAT ROON THE CORNER AT THE TILL. . R...

"This place has all the potential for a 5 star experience and you may well have it by going here! Unfortunately, we did not and it's worth explaining why. For context, we didn't stay overnight just had a meal in the restaurant one night and went to the beer garden another. Restaurant: Food was generally very good and prices reasonable. I'd especially recommend the tempura chard if it's on the menu! The setting of the restaurant is also lovely. However, we ended up waiting about an hour between starters and main meal 2 people . We were advised approx 40 minutes into the wait that one of the mains was no longer available and a substitute would be provided there was some gnocchi improvised from potato mash involved. Service were on top of this though and did remove this item from the bill. So in summary, good elements involved but a couple areas that could do with attention. Beer garden: We went along to the beer garden to catch the rugby world cup final. This was sadly quite a disappointing experience that ended up with the limited attendance clearing out before half time . In short, coverage only started after national anthems. No sound other than via headphones ?? , which didn't work ?! . Pizzas were pretty tasty but the cheese was stringy as a ball of yarn positive with no cutlery or tissues provided negative . And at c. £16 per pizza, felt a bit cheated by the whole experience. The rooms themselves look lovely and I'm sure on a summer's day if you're looking to enjoy some drinks and a bit of food in a lovely setting, the Taybank probably covers exactly what you're looking for! They also run a traditional music session in the main bar on a Thursday evening, which is absolutely worth checking out! But I'm afraid for us, it's unlikely we would rush back for anything other than that."
