"Brunch aside, which is usually quite good (like the coffee in Tusk! The food here is usually average. BUT service was very courteous and friendly, cocktails were great, and the Sharing Board is a safe option for sociable food with friends if you want to sit somewhere and pick up for an evening on the bog for a few hours. Food could and should be better, but it is still a decent option if you stay on the more basic options. In addition, they are switched on to nutritional requirements such as GF with a special GF menu on request and GF bread pizza options etc."

"The place has went up dramatically, in my estimation, since pre-pandemic, to the re-opening in April. Much better staff and management, and more efficient in general. Beer garden is much nicer than before, enclosed with a lovely decor. Food is very good and well priced too. Paddy and Donnie are very helpful and friendly. Keep up the good work!"

"We stayed here to celebrate my partner's birthday and had a fantastic experience. The arrival down the long, tree-lined drive is stunning. Parking was hassle-free and, best of all, it was free! The gardens where we relaxed with a cold drink were gorgeous. We were informed about the current guidelines for breakfast and dinner pre-orders, which was very helpful. Our room was well-equipped with tea and coffee, and the bathroom amenities were lovely. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making our stay even more enjoyable. The beds were comfortable, and it was surprisingly quiet. The room rate was very reasonable. We would definitely consider staying here again. I’d give it a 9/10 (only because we didn’t dine here, so I can't comment on the food)."

"We arrived exactly at 9.00 am the time our table was booked (as we had been requested to do some weeks ago) and were informed that there were no tables left in the restaurant. We were offered a table in the lounge/bar area or a little side room that had been opened for the overflow. We chose the side room. It was pleasant enough but tea and coffee was not served there as it was in the restaurant. Guests had to make it themselves using the thermos flasks of coffee or hot water. This was disappointing but would not have been a problem if ordinary tea and milk had been provided to go with the hot water. A waitress did try to rectify this as soon as she was told but had difficulty locating the tea so by the time she got back we were halfway through our cooked breakfast. We do not understand how the restaurant can run out of tables if a time slot has to be booked in advance. Surely the policy of pre-booking must apply to ALL guests. In addition to that the guests were not asked to wear masks while serving themselves at the buffet. While it is no longer mandatory to wear a mask it is common sense."

"The restaurant is in the Grafton centre where we had been to the cinema. Afterwards we went in and almost immediately the staff blocked the entrances to stop others coming in. With us there were three tables in use. A waiting staff member came after a while and took our order for drinks and food and then precisely at 830pm rushed out leaving only one to serve. The drinks did not appear. Eventually two meals were put up on the pass and ignored. I did think of going up and collecting them but then I 'm British and we don 't do that! The food and drinks were eventually delivered. The Flam kuche was very tasty but at best warm . I mentioned it when the waiting staff checked but they did not seem very concerned. When the bill arrived I tries to remove the optional service charge but apparently this was too complex and would take time so basically I gave up! The diners at the next table were very appreciative! As others have said it is somewhat expensive. A 175ml glass of wine was over £9. I do feel this was an isolated incident and that we were unlucky . I will go again in the future with hope ..."

"This restaurant is a great addition to Hard Pool, with a variety of pizzas available with vegan cheese. We tried a vegetable pizza and it was delicious with gooey, melted cheese and a flavorful taste. It was lovely to enjoy our meal while overlooking the sea. The owners of this restaurant are kind and authentic, and it was inspiring to hear about their decision to leave the rat race for a more fulfilling lifestyle. "Such a wide selection of pies and sides to choose from including some gluten free and vegan options. The pies were filled to the top with filling and are a very generous size. The Salcombe Gin and Lemon cheesecake was also very delicious. Love that as a local business they also source many other things locally like the Devon rock beer which my other half enjoyed! Will definitely be going again!"
