"The restaurant was clean and tidy and initially staff pleasant and welcoming.However young male waiter decided to take over service for our table and he really spoilt the experience………he took plates before we had finished eating brought dessert and within minutes was bringing the bill .Restaurant wasn’t busy and this rushed experience spoilt a lovely meal …….More training required I feel"

"We went for a Christmas dinner. When we made the reservation, we were not given a choice of festive or regular menus. When we arrived, all the other tables had crackers and decorations, but ours did not. It would have been nice to have that festive touch, even if we didn't order the special menu. The food was good, but only lukewarm, which was disappointing. There were many options to choose from, and we would consider returning on a Sunday for the lamb."

"Staff seriously need training on how to respectfully speak to customers. Shocking attitude from the young straight out of school inexperienced shift manager Domenic. I suggest you remember your position, serving your customers and keeping your opinions to yourself as to whether you think a customers attitude is to your liking or not. You think its funny to slag me off to your staff in front of us after you refused a year old a pint thinking id give it to my year old son. Upon you being confronted to such you state MY attitude was bad LOL even my year old son had to ask you to leave us alone to eat in peace due to your attitude. As to threats made upon leaving, grow up sonny, I had to tell you twice to mind your attitude while I calmly spoke to you about your attitude. Oh so gracious of you to allow us to finish our meals, If it was not for the fact my son took us out for a meal I would have left the meals on the table and left. and last time we will visit the Toby carvery in Liberton after this bad experience. No shock regarding your reply, clearly left by the boy in question with no customer training."

"Well you know what you get foodwise from a Toby Carvery, well cooked meat and a huge choice of vegetables. Just having a little bit of everything ends up with a plate full.On our visit we had a lovely server who clearly enjoyed her job, being really chatty.Our only gripe was asking for a none/low alcohol beer but being served one that was 5.1% and not noticing until it was almost all drunk. We'll still go again but be more observant next time."

"Arrived early but were still shown to a table straight away (Table 7). Ordered drinks which were brought to the table as we went for our Carvery. Great selection of meats vegetables. Excellent roasties in beef dripping with beautifully thick gravy delicious! Waiter was excellent courteous, patient not pushy or trying to rush us. A very enjoyable dinner at Chapel Allerton fully fuelled couldn't eat another thing. Excellent value for money."

"As a family we love a good carvery and Down lands is up there with the best! Piping hot food, generous servings on the meat, ever so crispy roasties (loved the new beef dripping choice) As our daughter is a vegetarian we were relieved she had a great selection of veggies to choose from. Also, generous puddings so remember to leave room for one I recommend the sticky caramel cake if you have a sweet tooth. Nice to see a pub type restaurant that gets busy and yet still manages to keep the tables clean a really pleasant meal was had by all and have to say, the staff were 10/10!"

"today toby in peterborough and what a beautiful meal. the waiter (mario) was so good with my two children. he made our experience a good one and entertained the children during our time giving high fives and magical tricks make the children loved it and have behaved very well. "toby carvery hoole village is a great place to visit we all love going to go the only critique I would give is that we once visited toby carvery huddersfield on the way to home from a trip out, and from any reason was the toby carvery huddersfield gravy from this world. now we have cost that gravy we think that the toby carvery hoole village gravy is watered as it is quite dirty. when we loved the toby carvery huddersfield gravy so much, we thought to make a 1 hour 45 minutes drive, just to go to lunch there."

"I am very disappointed by our visit to our local Toby Carvery this evening. I booked a table over a week ago for 6pm on a Thursday evening for 3 adults and 1 child. When we arrived the resteraunt manager (not sure of name but...had blonde short hair and glasses) made us aware that they were being audited so there would be a wait on food. We agreed this would be okay and took our seats, the manager asked if we had any dietary requirements and I have a very specific set of requirements. She said that she would be back in a minute, I then asked another waitress could I see an allergy menu as I wanted to get food from the deck. She said she would see where it was. The manager then came over about 15 minutes later and handed me an ipad for me to do it myself. I had a look and then we were in for a wait until someone came over to do our drinks. Our waitress was new and she looked incredibly overwhelmed with little help from her manager but she did incredibly well. We ordered our food and we went to the deck to get it. I was incredibly upset when the roast potatoes had gravy already on them as this meant I had to have the stale roast potatoes that were going to be chucked away as they are the only ones without beef gravy. Out of all the vegetables advertised the only ones I could have were peas and carrots. All of the other dishes were empty and the chefs seemed less than bothered to change them for new ones. We then asked for a children 's dessert and was told they might have it in but they might not so we waited another 15 minutes for the dessert to arrive. I then asked 3 different waitresses for the bill and was told they would do it in a minute. The manager was rushing around sorting complaints for different tables. We eventually paid for our dinner and on the way out the manager was leant over a table talking to a customer explaining that she couldn 't cope and she needed a break we actually had to ask her to move so we could get through. She then came storming over and pulled our lovely waitress to one side and had a go at her in front of us. I felt very out of place and thought this was incredibly unprofessional. I have worked in hospitality for many years but being pulled up in front of customers is not acceptable. The manager was basically explaining that it was all her fault for pouring the wrong wine and that she had to give discounts and therefore she had lost money tonight. This was a special meal for us and I was incredibly upset and disappointed by this experience. I had to ask the waitress if she was okay as she seemed incredibly shaken by the experience but she tried to reassure me she was okay. From 6pm until 8.30pm we were at the restaurant on a Thursday evening."

"I'm giving the Poole branch a 4 star rating, as the staff are always very polite and chatty. And, to be fair, the roast is still pretty good value for money. However, for a long time this branch has required an overhaul in terms of refurbishment. My wife and I would visit more often (it is our local), but it is far from appealing! It's a real shame, as it could be a great place, based on the unique building and large rear garden area..... but it is all very tired! Looking forward to a time when the company invest in the branch and realise it's great potential!"

"A nice friendly place for a get together, enjoyable food of good quality. Everything brought to your table by friendly staff. Covid safe. Pleasant atmosphere and ideal for all sorts of gatherings. Toilet areas unfortunately a let down in terms of maintenance and cleanliness , need to be checked more but this was the only slight comment of dissatisfaction I would raise. On the whole worth a visit."

"Upon arrival and stating my name and table reservation the manager told me that we hadn 't reserved a table as they don 't bother to look at the table bookings through this site . I told him that I had phoned 3 times prior and no one picked up and he said yeah we just ignore that . I said that this is unnacceptable and that the service shouldn 't be advertised if it 's something they don 't act upon. After recognising that I was clearly distressed by the situation and that I was in happy to wait for a table for one and a half hours he then seated us in about 3-4 minutes. Upon walking to the rear of the restaurant I was very annoyed to see a number of empty tables that had been laid but not sat at. Had I of not said that we were unhappy to wait for so long for a table then we would have been waiting an age when there was ample seating available. Disrespectful old git, clearly unhappy that he was marked on the rota for the Sunday shift."

"the place was beautiful and was greeted by a friendly host who sat quickly and served us. the carousel was fresh and the part of the meat was good. the boil lee was very friendly while serving and gave great cuts. the veg and the sides were beautiful and plentiful and the yorkshire puddings were great. the place is quite cheap and the children's meals are about half the price of an adult, but almost so much meat. it has free parking spaces close to bus routes for easy access. the bar was also beautiful and the drinks are quite expensive, including floorless fizzy drinks. would definitely recommend for a nice roasted dinner."

"We had a reservation for 7:15, and the staff kindly called to inform me that the meat wouldn't be ready until 7:45. I appreciated the communication. Once the meat was cooked, the food was delicious. However, I was unable to use my mom's birthday voucher because she had already used a gin voucher, which I thought was a bit unfair given it was a birthday celebration. Also, the staff didn’t seem very attentive; they assumed we only wanted the carvery when my mom actually wanted a wrap."

"We went for breakfast on Sunday 1st October, arrived there approx 10.00am. When we got there the only food available was bacon (which I do not eat) and eggs which had been there for quite sometime as they were 'hard ' , there was no bread to make toast. There was no vegetarian option openly available. I did ask and received 2 vegetarian sausages. The chef on duty that day was rude and had attitude when I asked him if there was any bread to make toast, he stormed into the kitchen and stormed back out again with 2 loaves of bread. When we asked if there was any more food, the chef was very rude. Food came out but in dribs and drabs, and majority of it was taken by a couple who came equipped with their 'tupperware ' and took the whole lot and left nothing for the other customers. Basically all I had to eat was 2 eggs, 2 vegetarian sausages and two slices of toast, my husband had the same but normal sausages which we ended up paying £17.99 for."

"My husband and I went for breakfast this morning and it was terrible. The sausage was so burnt and hard that it could have knocked my husband out. The eggs were burnt, the bacon was black and in little pieces. The only decent part was the mushrooms. We were very disappointed and won't be returning."
