"We had relatives visiting from The States who after a pleasant day in Lewes decided they wanted to goto a country pub for dinner. WE suggested a few in the area some didn't answer the phone others were showing full booked online until a lot later that evening. The Rainbow fitted the bill with seemingly good reviews. Having had experience in the past, some good and some not so good and knowing of its reputation over the years, we were pleased to see it all looked positive when we visited. We phoned up about 5.30pm prior to arriving for dinner about 6pm on a Saturday. We were told just turn up as there was space for our party of five there was no need to prebook. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely young lady who explained we could sit in the Dining Room table service or garden order from the bar. It was a hot day, so we elected to sit in the garden. We were told once we noted the specials board that several dishes were not available and some of the main menu had sold out also. We were surprised to find the Dining room sparsely occupied and the garden was similar. We picked a nice spot under a gazebo on a terrace area with seating rather than picnic benches. once seated I noted that the table had drinks spilt on then and had not been cleaned. The our server came back to us to tell us what was not available. there was such an exhaustive list at least half the menu and specials. We suggested it would be easier to tell us what was available. With this done she duly left, so we could make our choice. The people on the adjoining table introduced themselves as the owner/manager and apologised for the lack of food as it had been rather a busy afternoon. We reluctantly chose what was left, which wasn't really what we wanted. Then one of our party stated it was unpleasant where we were sitting as the adjoining table were smoking and another smoker had sat close by. He was not keen to eat while someone was smoking near him so he suggested the Dining Room. By this time with the lack of food available and other issues we left to find another venue. It was a shame as it all looked pleasant and inviting the people were friendly, with our rerlatives wanting to experience an English country pub this had evapourated because of the lack of food and the other issues. I would hope this was just a hiccup, but to run out so early on a Saturday evening of most of their menu items it seemed like a lack of foresite. The weather had been good and even if it was bad they would have struggled to fill the inside seating with the amount of people in the pub. It felt like a bit of poor management on their part . We will keep an eye on how things go and may return without relatives in the future."

"This is my first visit to the restaurant, I visited here with my friend, I took her for afternoon tea for her birthday. We also took her little one with us. Afternoon tea was booked and paid in advance, As this s the requirement for afternoon tea. The staff where welcoming upon arrival, and extremely polite, the restaurant was warm cosy and clean, you could also smell the food cooking. We were seated to our reserved table, the waiter came to our table and gave us menus, so we could select drinks. My friend ordered a latte, I just had tea. The waiter took our menus away, the lady in the restaurant fetched another menu, to order little ones food from. She had chicken nuggets and potato tots, when her food came out I was shocked by the quality, freshly made food, not processed like you get elsewhere. Our afternoon tea was big, I was super happy that there was more savory available on it, so many places do too much sweet. The afternoon tea consisted of sandwiches, tuna cucumber, tuna mayo, chicken with mayo. Vegetable quiche, mini pasty, Yummy soup. Also a little pot of gherkins and cheese so much better than the mundane side salad. On the next tier where cakes, that consisted of brownie, Victoria sponge, I think trifle although taste was a mix of trifle and eton mess. Top tier had scones , 1 plain 1 fruit, jam, and cream for each one. The food was tasty and very filling, the brownie was lush and tasted like chocolate ganache. The scone was quite savory and you could taste the salt in it, I only add a little cream, and not jam as I don't like it on scones really, but that's just a preference. I liked everything I ate apart from the quiche, again that's just preference my friend enjoyed here's too. All together the cost was about £41.00. The afternoon teas are, £14.95 each. I would definitely visit again in the future. The staff are lovely and the food is quality. This restaurant is worth a visit. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot"

"I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews but Unfortunately I can’t say I very much enjoyed my first and potentially last trip to Sabroso. Firstly let me say that we got the food as a takeaway. Now, I’m not a big fan of writing bad reviews. I would rather write a review praising the establishment to allow others to try as we have. However, we were mislead by the reviews and feel that maybe we caught them on a bad day. Nevertheless we had a bad experience. We started with some soft chicken tacos which *spoiler alert* were the best thing that we tried. The flavour was great. The meat quantity was perfect. A great little starter if you’re willing to share. I was getting really excited at this point. However, it’s a slow decline from here. The fried jalapeños were not great. Felt and tasted manufactured if I’m quite honest and with the chilli dip to go with it, which was most certainly ‘crucials extra hot chilli sauce’ that you get in most takeaways these days, I was feeling slightly let down. You would think a Mexican/ tex mex restaurant would at least make a good chilli sauce. For the main, I had a Beef Chilli burrito, which I asked to be made a little spicier, and it Was flavourless. Mainly tasted like cheese and was packed with rice, which I understand that’s what a burrito should be But there was barely any meat/ chilli. I was thinking if my chicken tacos were that tasty I can’t wait for the burrito but it was bland. No flavour to the Mexican rice and there wasn’t any spice to be found. I was very disappointed to say the least. The missus had chicken enchiladas and had this to say: large portion with a substantial amount of chicken but could only really taste tomatoes. Too saucy and rather flavourless. The onion rings and sweet potato fries tasted like they came from a packet. Overall a solid 2 out of 5. I had high hopes from the reviews but it really wasn’t much to shout about. Nothing really Mexican in sight except the tacos. Do not let our review stop you from trying the food for yourselves and maybe you’ll have a better experience If you eat in the restaurant rather than a takeaway. Enjoy yourselves. Nick and Becky."
