"I don’t usually write reviews but after my experience with the bake house I felt compelled too. Their customer service is one of the worst in ever experienced. We were NOT greeted when we walked in. I tried to make eye contact a few times with the staff smile, this was not reciprocated. The staff just look you up and down, make minimal effort to make you feel comfortable. It’s such a shame because the food is beautiful but I honestly felt uncomfortable and like I was an outsider. It was awful. It felt like a VERY bitchy atmosphere I honestly felt so uncomfortable. I couldn’t wait to just get out of there. Even at the till I tried to make conversation , was hoping my first impression was a misunderstanding. IT CLEARLY WAS NOT. It’s basic etiquette to be polite and kind. It felt like it was an effort for the staff here they don’t care about their customers. The manager came and took my plate without even asking if I had finished (which was the final straw for me) I was still eating but taking a minute. I felt too uncomfortable to say I wasn’t done so just let her take it! It’s such a shame as I am here every weekend would have liked to have visited regularly. The truth is though customer service is very important to me! As a business owner myself, I would never want my team to behave the way these people do! I wont be giving them my money again."

Called in here on our way into the lake. It’s a bit of a hidden Gem that does high quality food, freshly prepared.

The best vegan breakfast in the lakes! So creative and tasty, really thought about. Lovely atmosphere, would highly recommend. Also lovely gooey vegan brownie for later.

The food, decor, atmosphere, and staff are all excellent at this restaurant. There is nothing to fault here! The chef is doing an amazing job. Well done, this is the best breakfast I have had in years!

This restaurant is consistently excellent. The coffee is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, and they always have an incredible variety of baked goods. The quality is outstanding, and the staff are friendly and seem genuinely happy to serve. This place has become our new favorite spot in the neighborhood!

All home made cakes/bread. Ate here everyday this week for breakfast. Good quality food, excellent staff and more than accommodating with dogs (we have 3). The cinnamon buns were amazing and my partner bought two on the last day to take away with him in addiction to the one he had for breakfast. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend visiting this little gem.

We discovered this hidden gem a couple of months ago and were pleasantly surprised. We were seated in the spacious outside seating area, where I ordered a bacon sandwich and my husband opted for the egg and sausage on sourdough bread. Both dishes were delicious, and although the menu had a lot of unfamiliar ingredients, we stuck with safe choices. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, although we did notice that there were no prices listed on the menu.

This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host, and after reading the (good) reviews, we decided to stop for brunch on our last day in The Lakes. Whole place looks generally quite run down; flaking paint on ceilings and walls, cobwebs, plants that are struggling to survive etc. We were shown to a table after a short wait, and told to order at the till. Menu was short, expensive and complicated, consisting of several ‘trendy’ dishes with ingredients you’re unlikely to have heard of. After ordering two dishes and drinks, we sat and waited. We were served our hot drinks in glasses, which were then impossible to pick up. We then watched as the chef from the kitchen stood outside and smoked...

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
