"I visited the restaurant in the city center, but was disappointed to find that there were no vegan options on the menu. My only choice was to order the vegetable sandwich without cream cheese. When I inquired about vegan options in English, the staff seemed confused, both by the term "vegan" and the language barrier. Overall, I did not enjoy my experience as the staff was also rude to us."

"This restaurant is truly charming with its intimate atmosphere and options for seating both upstairs and downstairs. I highly recommend making a reservation as it can get quite busy and may not accommodate walk-ins. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, however, it's worth noting that the bathroom is located upstairs. I had the goats cheese starter and Ox cheek main course, both of which were delicious. The mashed potatoes side was also excellent. The menu isn't extensive but the food is top-notch. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience."

"The chef was really nice to us and that absolutely made the whole dining experience much better. Drinks were brilliant the new bubbly saki is my favorite, and that really complemented the outstanding food they served. Would definitely return for many more!"

"We ordered a variety of starters, a sushi and sashimi platter, along with some individual sushi hand rolls. Everything was incredibly fresh and tasty. The drink selection was sufficient to meet most preferences. The service was both friendly and efficient, striking a pleasing balance between formal and informal. Additionally, the prices are relatively reasonable for central dining, especially considering the quality offered. If you're in the area, I highly recommend this restaurant. **Service:** Dine-in **Meal type:** Dinner **Price per person:** £50–60 **Food:** 5 **Service:** 5 **Atmosphere:** 5 **Recommended dishes:** Rolls, Sushi Platter"

"I've ordered lots of times from Itabashi over the past several years. Unfortunately they recently they changed their delivery policies. After spending a while with the family selecting our order I went to place the order, they explained I was (now) outside of their delivery area and needed to pay an extra £2.50 ... which was fine so proceeded. They then took payment but then told me they had no delivery driver, so rejected the order. However they'd taken the money!! and I might have to wait several days for a refund!! ... terrible way to implement a system ... owner was less than apologetic when I called him to explain the error in their process ... Result ... lost customer ... that's no way to do business"

"My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dinner at Laurent. The service was great and we were well looked after, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were impressed by the whole experience, from the decor, the cheesy bread that came before our meal, the cool tower of onion rings and the yummy petit fours that arrived at the end of our meal. We will definitely be going again."

"The best restaurant for us gourmets for over years. As far as the food and drinks are concerned, we were never disappointed here. Friends, to whom we recommended Apple's restaurant, were also very enthusiastic. Very personable and constant staff. When we come here it's a little like coming home ... with the advantage that WE are pampered. As long as we stay in Hamburg, this restaurant will remain our regular restaurant!"

"Pros: The starters were fantastic. The veg spring rolls were hot and crispy, the chicken wings had a deliciously crispy coating with a hint of garlic and spice, and the chicken gyozas were also delicious. Cons: The mains were very salty, especially the chicken and black bean dish. Several pieces of cutlery were dirty, so my kids resorted to using chopsticks. The plates had stains from previous use, forcing us to eat our starters with our hands. The floor and chairs were filthy, and I had to be careful not to get grains of rice or noodles on my shoes. The food was poorly presented, simply slopped onto the plates. One plate had a lot of food on the bottom and side, making it difficult to eat comfortably. When we arrived, the staff stared but did not seat us immediately. Overall, I wouldn't return to this restaurant and believe it requires a hygiene inspection."

"The only reasons we did not give this visit a 5-star rating were the lack of a drinks menu (we were only given a food menu upon arrival) and the noise level. We understand that the Bottomless Brunch is popular, leading to increased noise levels, but we ask for consideration for guests who prefer a quieter celebration. This was especially important as one of our party members has sensory issues. We had booked for lunch at 3pm hoping for a quieter experience, but unfortunately, the noise level was still a bit too high for our liking."

"The food at the Cross was exceptional, it has certainly earned its reputation for fine dining. The combination of flavours and presentation was a delight to the senses. A personal highlight being the duck breast I had for my main. The crispy duck egg starter was also very tasty with the hazelnut souffle dessert being the weakest offering of the three courses. Despite the flowery presentation of your server pouring hot chocolate sauce into the top of the souffle into the shape of a cross, the texture was quite unpleasant and the flavour was lacking. Giving you the mouth feel of a vaguely nutty curdled egg. Having tried the tiramisu of someone else in my party, I can confidently say, that is the superior option. Furthermore, despite the service being very polite and attentive when present at the table. We did end up waiting quite a long time to not only order but also between courses. This was supplemented during the first half of our meal with complimentary entrees and bread basket. But when paying £85 per person, you don't expect to be waiting 40+ minutes between my starter and main course with no check ins from the servers. The Cross fell victim to this again with dessert. Some of my party ordered coffee in place of dessert, but instead of it all coming out at once, the coffees arrived 20 minutes before the desserts. It was very busy the night we attended so maybe they were short on staff. Food wise The Cross is everything you'd expect, but the service let it down on this occasion."

"I had a wonderful experience at Akari! I had dinner with a friend there in the evening, and we ordered gyoza along with a variety of sushi (maki, uramaki, and temaki), all of which was delicious. I particularly recommend the eel temaki. The selection of beloved dishes was excellent and reasonably priced. I also want to highlight the service; our wait staff was very attentive, and the food arrived promptly. It's a vibrant restaurant with fantastic food, and I will definitely return!"

"Sadly our experience wasn’t particularly positive. We were looking forward to a nice evening out. The service was incredibly slow. They were slow to take our order, our wine was placed on a service table nearby but not actually given to us or opened until we asked after a protracted time. We waited almost an hour for our main courses and 30 minutes for our desserts. The service mostly consisted of the waiting staff apologising for the waiting times. The restaurant wasn’t busy but the waitress explained they were short staffed. We had steak which was lovely meat but was over cooked from how we’d ordered it. We didn’t send it back as we’d waited so long for it. We waited again for plates to be cleared and waiting staff didn’t circulate much, preferring to stay at their base at a desk near the kitchen, so we couldn’t ask for more water to be provided. We ended up taking the jug ourselves from the service area. The staff did take off the cost of the desserts without us asking as a gesture to apologise for the waits but did add drinks to the bill we hadn’t ordered or received. It does seem from other reviews that our experience doesn’t match with others so maybe we caught them on a bad night."

"The food was rather disappointing, with the exception of the homemade kimchi, which I believe they should consider commercializing if the restaurant doesn’t succeed. The menu offered a strange mix of cuisines that lacked proper representation; for instance, the spicy pork, which is typically thinly sliced and served in a spicy oil on bibimbap, was presented as a slightly peppery char siu instead. Many of the ingredients used were of subpar quality. The cocktails were just average as well. While the service provided by the two servers was excellent, they were overshadowed by the head server, who was slow, strange, and generally ineffective—perhaps the restaurant is understaffed. The ambience was quite pleasant, but the large shared benches made it difficult to navigate getting in and out of tables."

"Upon trying dishes such as oysters, tuna tataki, a mini unadon, karaage, and agedashi tofu, I found them all to be disappointing. The fish and seafood lacked freshness, and there was no option for rice or miso soup to complete the meal (curiously, there is no rice on the menu). The waitress even suggested thinking of the food as Japanese tapas, which I found to be a stretch. Teishoku, or set meals, should be recommended to diners for a more satisfying and cohesive dining experience. The restaurant's fusion of classic and modern dishes, such as fried Brussels sprouts reminiscent of a Japanese Wetherspoons and high-end wagyu donburi next to oysters, is confusing and lacks direction. The highball drinks, while a nice touch, are overpriced and seem unnecessary. Overall, this restaurant needs to reconsider its menu and pricing, as it reinforces the misconception that Japanese cuisine is overly pretentious and complex. The focus should be on preparing quality dishes that showcase the best of Japanese culinary traditions, rather than offering a confusing mix of options."

"Sadly I think the party might be over for Yo Sushi. I visited the Selfridges branch on a Saturday afternoon and was seated after a short wait. Food was .. not good. I had vegetable yakisoba and the noodles were very overcooked and mushy. Firecracker rice that tasted of very strong stale red onion and nothing else. Vegetable gyoza that were fine average. Service is chaotic at best and staff were running around like headless chickens trying to keep on top of things. Whilst I was eating I saw quite a long queue form despite the restaurant area having multiple empty seats. When I came to pay, the server could not find details of what I’d ordered and asked me to tell him again so he could add it up. He said ‘I’m trusting you to be truthful’. Umm.. thanks? I’m not interested in short changing you, despite the totally mediocre food. I used to love Yo, but this was a sad experience and very different to previous experiences. Time to find something different."

"If you want to have excellent dim sum with appalling service I highly recommend. The restaurant and bar are lovely and have a great atmosphere and the food was delicious. The reason why the service was so poor was because we were charged for a bottle of wine we didn't purchase and when we asked the staff to refund the amount they ended up charging 2 more of our guests extra instead of refunding it. When we addressed this we were accused of lying when we provided proof by receipt to show we had been charged again in error. After lots of back and forth, we received the refund and a loyalty card. Because of this issue it completely ruined our dining experience. I think the situation could have been handled much better by the staff and it's a shame because it's our local restaurant."
