"Upon trying dishes such as oysters, tuna tataki, a mini unadon, karaage, and agedashi tofu, I found them all to be disappointing. The fish and seafood lacked freshness, and there was no option for rice or miso soup to complete the meal (curiously, there is no rice on the menu). The waitress even suggested thinking of the food as Japanese tapas, which I found to be a stretch. Teishoku, or set meals, should be recommended to diners for a more satisfying and cohesive dining experience. The restaurant's fusion of classic and modern dishes, such as fried Brussels sprouts reminiscent of a Japanese Wetherspoons and high-end wagyu donburi next to oysters, is confusing and lacks direction. The highball drinks, while a nice touch, are overpriced and seem unnecessary. Overall, this restaurant needs to reconsider its menu and pricing, as it reinforces the misconception that Japanese cuisine is overly pretentious and complex. The focus should be on preparing quality dishes that showcase the best of Japanese culinary traditions, rather than offering a confusing mix of options."

It was a little pricey and the portion was small. But I gave 5 stars because of its creative and aesthetic dishes.

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant, one of the best sushi places I've ever been to. I highly recommend it. The food was prepared quickly with top-quality ingredients, and the restaurant itself had a lovely design.

Honestly one of the best sushi spots I've been to, the vibe is off the charts, but let's be real it's all about the quality of ingredients and these chaps have it figured out, get into it you won't regret it even if your pocket does

Great Japanese spot in Edinburgh. Sophisticated and provides some amazing food with the sushi prepared fresh you can see why this is a popular spot. The fish is lovely and to a high grade with the salmon being by far some of the best I’ve had. Service was average but can’t fault with how busy the place was. Atmosphere is lovely and would recommend here for a posh dinner with friends and family.

The food is something else, not your usual basic japanese. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable if a bit nervous. We were next to the counter where they grill some of the food. The smell was not very nice. The restaurant is elegant and I liked the partitions and the lighting. Then a big loud group came in and that was the end of a romantic dinner... There is attention to detail, choice, it is worth a visit

A local friend brought me here to try this Japanese food To be honest, I never imagined that I would be able to eat such high-level Japanese food in Edinburgh. Every dish is special. Several sushi rolls are particularly outstanding, and the grilled Wagyu beef is also a sincere creation. No wonder my friends insist on booking a table The restaurant decoration is comfortable and the seating space feels good Staff are friendly and attentive One of my first favorite restaurants in Edinburgh

Went for dinner on a Wednesday night at 8pm and most tables were taken. The decor is minimalistic and the service was fantastic and always refilling water and checking to see how everything was. Since we never tried sake before, the waitress let me try different types of sake beforehand and her pairing suggestions were spot on. The chef here is a true professional and can really tell how much effort he puts on each dish. I loved the sushi here because even though it was a bit pricey, the sushi truly spoke for itself. The rice was incredibly seasoned and the fish is very fresh. There were several pieces of fish that I've never had before, such as bluefin Otoro and Botan ebi, so it was great t...

I went to Yamato for my partner's birthday lunch yesterday. From the moment we walked in until we left, the food and service were outstanding. We were escorted to our table by a waitress who was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had water and taking care of our orders. We tried a couple of specials from the menu, the wagyu tataki and lobster and wagyu roll, both of which were fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed the chunmushi, tuna tataki, assorted tempura, and grilled sushi, all of which were well-presented and tasty. The atmosphere at Yamato was elegant, chic, and clean, complementing the food perfectly. As lovers of Japanese cuisine who have visited many Japanese restaurants...

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
