"Myself, husband and son were in Windsor for the day as part of my son's 18th Birthday celebrations. Where we went for lunch was his pick and he really fancied a burger so Gourmet Burger Kitchen seemed an obvious choice. I have to say I'm not the biggest burger fan so the thought of a burger restaurant didn't thrill me. Firstly we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff who quickly sat us down. The menu choice was impressive and despite initial reservations I found several items that sounded tempting. I decided to opt for the Chargrilled Chicken Satay Burger and went for the bunless option. My son had The Mighty with fries and onion rings and the husband had The Major Tom with the addition of avocado and bacon. Drinks wise we had an Oreo milkshake, Ginger Beer and a makeshift Mocha as it is not something on their menu but our helpful server was very quick to oblige and create a Mocha for us. For someone who was decidedly underwhelmed at the thought of a burger restaurant it was the most delicious meal I've had in a long time. My bunless burger was served with Homeslaw and corn in place of a bun, a very nice substitute. As for my husband and son ...well firstly my son was beaten by his massive burger which is a first big my husband polished off his. In conclusion great food made even better by the fabulous staff. Thank you we will be back next time we visit."

"Arranging the team Christmas Dinner is often an affair fraught with danger. A group of people you 've known for over 15 years who have developed their own personal tastes, likes and dislikes. Whilst a Dominos and a half dozen cases of Blue WKD would have previously passed muster we have somewhat matured and as such our Christmas nights out have been getting progressively fancier over the last 5 years. With a mixed group of tastes varying from the adventurous to the not so, and knowing that it 's just around the corner from my flat, I booked a table at the McMillan. First things first, it was amazing value at £26 for 3 courses. As anyone who 's visited the McMillan will know you often do well to get a main alone for that price when you 're pushing the boat out. It was busy but the atmosphere was just right for Christmas without feeling suffocating. Whilst the pianist is an oft underrated part of any restaurant ambience. Each course had four choices to pick from. For my starter I had a confit duck salad which was wonderfully lifted with some pickled vegetables. I also tried my friends grilled polenta with brie and house salsa which was also very tasty. For main I shunned the traditional turkey dinner (having already eaten 3 by that point of the week! in favour of braised beef shin with mashed potato, picked carrots and bone marrow bread pudding. That 's right BONE. MARROW. BREAD. PUDDING. It was, and my apologies for the slight profanity here, the dugs baws! I now demand I have this as an accompaniment with any slab of meat I eat. The beef shin, carrots and gravy were also spot on and as a whole dish it was really great. Not being a dessert fan I went for cheese and biscuits and whilst the selection was rather uninspiring with cheddar, stilton and brie there was enough biscuits on my plate which for some reason kitchens have great difficulty parting with when it comes to serving up a cheese course. They have a varied bar menu full of whiksy, gin, beers and cocktails and the waiting staff, bar one rather 'intense ' chap, were great and joined in our special blend of nonsense when asked, I really like it in here and as Christmas dinners go it was an absolute win for me. I noticed they do a steak and wine for two night during the week for £30, if I could jsut meet the love of my life I"

"The security manager was rude, threatening, aggressive unprofessional to us: representing a shambolic excuse for what claims to be a joyful venue representing the vibrant nightlife of London. We were three people waiting to see a friend for his birthday: he’d paid in advance, and we were excited to celebrate with him: yet we were banned for the entire evening, since the manager developed an inappropriate and emotionally-charged vendetta against us simply for holding one beer between three of us (the majority of which remained unconsumed, with offers of immediate disposal), and ‘cutting in line’ since we had a friend who’d booked a table. The equivalent of the Highway Code must be studied in detail so as to qualify for entry. This was consequently a simple misunderstanding of an unwritten rule book, which we clearly deserved the utmost punishment for… An unforgiving ‘one strike and you’re out’ policy seems more like army recruitment than evening entertainment: so if this sounds like your idea of a fun evening out then I’m sure this would be your ideal spot! Nevertheless this illogical draconian dictatorship and condescending zero-tolerance policy perceived our ‘unacceptable behaviours’ apparently as reason enough to prove we were a threat to the running of the club: and despite civilised attempts at sober, polite, and respectful discourse: we were banned from entering, without opportunity for adult discussion. At no other establishment would an eye-roll be acceptable behaviour towards paying, willing, and well-intentioned customers. The entire experience was a complete waste of time. This treatment was unwelcoming, patronising, rude, condescending, unpleasant, uncomfortable, unreasonable and illogical: and none of us will be returning ever again. I’ll be warning everyone I know against coming to this unpleasant venue. A truly overwhelmingly unfriendly atmosphere. Humanity, empathy, and logic were abandoned in exchange for callous and unconstructive service via unprovoked and highly inappropriate emotionally-charged, flippant dismissal. Staff (the manager) seemed to be threatened by civilised people willing to spend money at a premises designed for joyful activities. Our night was ruined. Avoid at all costs."
