"This was dreadful. We were crammed into a table that was too small in an alcove. The food was very poor indeed, and the steak pie I ordered changed into a chicken pie when it arrived. We had booked and had two courses and wine but were informed by our incompetent waitress that 'I need your table as there are people waiting ' after only 50 minutes. No tip left, obviously and appalling service and food quality. Certainly not worth the £50 we paid. They will not be seeing us again."

Is that what it says so on the can; pub grub, very satisfactory (but I only have fish chips! Service is always good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It's my place and I'm really glad to have it so close.

Very good service and food. Only quibble was the minute teaspoon of tartare sauce on the side of the plate for our scampi. Had to ask for more which was grudgingly bought by the waiter who brought our meals out. The waitress was brilliant that served us though.

Online booked said they did not receive the booking, although I showed them the confirmation. It was my problem that their systems were not properly connected. The service was slow. Dessert came 20 minutes after my hot drink, which should be together. Cam from brownie was surrounded by a pool of ice cream not good.

Having sent us an acknowledgment of our booking, plus a reminder of the booking just before, Open table failed to inform the Swallows nest that we were coming. Fortunately they had had a cancellation and were able to fit us in, otherwise our Mother's Day treat could have been a disaster. We will book direct with the Swallows Nest in future. The staff, as always, were lovely and the food excellent.

Beer well kept, food choice excellent, really good service what more could you ask for?! Can recommend the sticky duck salad very tasty and more than enough of it to satisfy the appetite. The garlic cheese flat bread was excellent too we had this served with our main course (didn't have starter or sweet so can't comment on those). I usually end up at this pub after a dog walk for a pint outside great views. Dogs are also allowed in the pub in the bar area bonus if it's raining!
