"I was expecting fine dining. I ate Fois Gras and Fillet Steak with Sauce Perigeux My husband ate Lobster Salad and Pigeon Burger. We were seated in a gloomy and frankly shabby back corner. The Fois Gras was actually the best component of the meal. Soft, well seasoned, delicious. It was served with a heavy fruit and nut bread (quite nice), balsamic glaze and very tired looking pea shoots. My husbands Lobster Salad consisted of two chewy pieces of lobster on a MINUSCULE amount of dressing and a very large and dominant quenelle of grain salad (no greens included). When ordering our main course, I asked what green veg were available. The answer is none What veg DO you have? Shrug... Pan fried vegetables what pan fried vegetables turnip and carrot !!!! I ordered Green Salad as my side and my husband ordered Dauphinoise for us to share. I asked for my steak to be medium rare. The steak arrived almost well done, certainly more than medium, NOTHING like medium rare. It was dry. The sauce bore no resemblance whatsoever to Sauce Perigeux which is meant to contain Madera and Black Truffle. I could taste none of either. It was also a strange texture. The salad was brown around the edges and the dauphinoise was the size of a small cup cake and dry, dry, dry. Nothing oozing and unctuous there!!! To top off our experience the head waiter disappeared outside in his suit as we were eating our main course and when he reappeared he came straight to our table to clear absolutely STINKING of cigarette smoke. Mm mmmm. The barman was charming and professional. We didn't stay for desert and drank a bottle of nice red wine."

my sort of restaurant; food cooked very well and presented well. Friendly service but not intrusive and a relaxed ambience.

The service at this restaurant was professional and friendly. Our server was always available when needed but never rushed us. We especially enjoyed our starters, and the main courses were also good. Lastly, we were pleasantly surprised with a nice birthday treat. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was nicely prepared and delicious, although the portions were quite small, except for the dessert, which may justify the cost. The tasting menu was lacking fresh vegetables, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it didn't meet my expectations, but it wasn't something I would complain about.

This restaurant is really lovely with delicious food. We tried the Tasty Thursday menu, but found it to be insufficient, so we also ordered a cheese platter. However, the additional charge of 18 pounds for 4 small pieces of cheese and a bit of bread felt excessive. Overall, this restaurant is a wonderful option for those looking to enjoy French cuisine. We made a reservation well in advance and informed the restaurant about our allergies. They assured us they could accommodate our needs. However, upon arrival, there were limited options available and we had to speak with the chef for further clarification. Despite the initial confusion, we were eventually able to order our meals. Regrettably, there were only 1 other couple dining at the same time. The food was satisfactory and we appreciated the 20% discount on the à la carte and lunch set menu, which made the overall experience more affordable.

The food was interesting, well cooked and delicious. One of our party was going to try the wagyu but hasn't realised how expensive it was. The member of staff was excellent both in not embarrassing her buy also offering an alternative in the wagyu burger where she could try the meat but be comfortable with the cost. She's not really a burger person but the dish was not at aĺl like a burger and was delicious. We enjoyed all our dishes including a very unusual risotto and a fantastic chocolate sphere. We had great cocktails and really excellent selection of wine by the glass as well as the bottle. Staff were friendly, efficient and the right level of attentive. The restaurant was very quiet lat...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
