"First things, The people that run this business are the most welcoming you could ask for in Yorkshire nothing being too much trouble. Me and my friends visited on a wet and windy Friday afternoon and were worried about being too mucky and damp for inside we were told to come in and warm up 'don 't worry about it '. We proceeded to have a variety of coffees and teas which are made on a proper coffee machine non of this push button machine! They were fantastic! For food we had Ham Brie and Cranberry toasties, BLT 's and the best Bacon sandwiches i 've ever tasted. This was of course followed by cakes and scones, HIGHLY RECOMEND Blueberry and Ginger scones my word these were good! I will be returning whenever I am in the area. As for the other reviews on here I really think you maybe need to take a look at yourselves this is a independently run business and you get what you pay for! If you like mass produced and priced baking then by all means stick to that but DO NOT come on here slating a place for their prices this is a completely different business to your highstreet 'Greggs or Thomas 's ' and yes prices do reflect this rightly so!"

We recently had a fantastic breakfast at Abbey Tearooms. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was of great quality. We always make it a point to stop by whenever we are in the area.

We entered the tearoom and chose a seat by the window. One of the staff members was finishing clearing a table, but when we tried to engage in polite conversation, we felt ignored. The woman who served us, presumably the owner, seemed unfriendly and unwelcoming. Another couple arrived and chose a table for four, only to be asked to move to a table for two in case more people showed up. Although it was quiet and there were only a few customers, it felt like they didn't want us there. The food in the tearoom was okay but lacked imagination. If you prefer your tea weaker, be prepared to pay an extra £1 for water to dilute it. I have visited many tearooms before, but this is the first time I hav...
