If you want an overall fantastic dining experience, Akarsu Turkish Restaurant and Grill is a must! Beautiful location in Durham city, the food is amazing and the staff can’t do enough for you. Not the best experience, unfortunately. We ordered a selection of cold and hot mezze dishes, and sides. Poor food quality throughout, with the worst being the mixed hot mezze platter for 2. Sucuk reminded us of dog food, the boregi was soggy and greasy (we expected it crunchy), and the falafel was stone dry and crumbly. What a shame to see Turkish cuisine presented like this. Cleaning standards also below bar, the toilets were so filthy. Strongly not recommended. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options, but poor quality food.
