"I recently celebrated birthdays with friends at Monty's Wine Bar and Restaurant for their Sunday lunch. Once again, they impressed with their delicious food and excellent service. The staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Portsmouth area. It's only a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute taxi ride from Portsmouth station, but it's definitely worth the trip. The decor is charming, with a beautiful bar at the entrance and a cozy dining room at the back. Even though the dining room looks formal, it felt welcoming and relaxing. If Monty's had a location in London, I would definitely become a regular customer."

Excellent friendly service and delicious food. Monty's Caters easy for vegans, of whom we had in our party. Very good restaurant choice in Southsea.

I had a voucher for my birthdays for Afternoon tea for four. Great service and we were provided with extra sandwiches when we ran out. Our teapots were also refilled constantly. View menu

We booked on line about half an hour before, and this hadn't filtered through when we arrived. But the staff could not have been more friendly and the food was great. You are prepared to allow for little things going wrong when the service is so friendly and helpful. Recommended for a nice atmosphere fillet steak is great.

Mixed feelings. Some things were good. Service was slow and room was mostly empty of staff for the first hour, and then it was all a bit hit and miss. Some of the food was good but not a place to go back to. Regulars seem to be happy and also get special treatment. A bit disappointing given some of the great reviews. Maybe it was an off night.

Given as a gift afternoon tea for two. Lovely premises with comfortable chairs and a fabulous host for whom nothing was too much trouble. We were never rushed or fussed over so it was extreamly relaxing experience. Only one very small criticsm the tea pot was too small so had to ask several times for a refill (which was refilled very promptly . Overall would recommend and will return myself. View menu

I had booked a table for my partner's anniversary, but when we arrived, the restaurant was closed. I spoke with an employee the next day and was told that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, even though their website states that they are open 7 days a week. The employee was very rude, and the manager never reached out to apologize for the inconvenience. I would not recommend this place at all.

We booked the day (for this evening) through Open Table and received the confirmation email. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told there was no booking for us, as with booking via Open Table, the bookings do not come through /checked by restaurant until the following day,! So others beware! We waited at the bar, as they said, a table would not be long at the end it was about 40 minutes. The food was rather tasty, no bread with appetizer made of smoked salmon available as an outlet.
