"we were a group of 5, who had eaten here last week, and we all agreed that this was our favorite eating experience of our European journey. it was an expensive experience, but incredibly well worth it. the spatialities and the view of the sea were breathtaking. they began our experience with champagne in the living room filled with beautiful and renowned works of art. we were then taken to the dining room to begin our meal which lasted for 2 hours. we had the time of our lives. we were waited by a team of 8-9 servers and the sommelier who had a big knowledge. the food was excellent! I must say that our money has been spent absolutely well! I recommend this restaurant dining experience. If I ever get back to the lake district, I would stay in this hotel."

From the moment you arrive you are treated to exemplary service. The view is spectacular, the staff are professional, extremely knowledgeable and courteous. The sommelier was the nicest we’ve met as some can be aloof. The food was exceptional, as vegetarians we have previously found Michelin star restaurants to be lazy in their preparation of vegetarian food. However, here, so much thought had been given to each individual dish, the sequence and the theatre. We are truly grateful for this magical experience.

there can not be many (each places in the country better suited to celebrate a round birthday or a special jubilee for one night or two. the view of the windermere lake after they have climbed the hill is a breath for a start. not cheap, natural, but amazing love for detail and excellent eating the evening tasting menu is £115 per head and again for wine pairing, but it is as a theatre, not to mention fantastic aromen. if they stay here two nights, have a credit card moment and eat here both nights, they won't regret it. all staff really nice, but karah stood up for her naturally friendly hospitality

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
