"After having sampled Monsieur Heerah's imaginative dishes at another of his Montmartre establishments, Chamarre Montmartre, we were surprised to stumble upon this little gem, another of his four local restaurants in the area, nicely located behind the Sacre Coeur. Being a Tuesday evening, the dining room was quiet, but our waitress was attentive and friendly, without being overbearing. The room was beautifully decorated with festive trinkets, which gave the restaurant a warm, welcoming feel. The menu of 'Au Clocher de Montmartre', unlike the more formal setting of its aforementioned sister restaurant, reveals a love of simple, classic favourites. Diners here could equally enjoy a lunch on the run as well as spend time over an evening meal, as we did. We opted for the two course menu, with my partner beginning with the confit duck, sautéed potatoes and mustard sauce: hearty, delicious and well presented. I chose the pan-fried chicken with creamy mushroom tagliatelle and green vegetables: again, the dish was well-cooked and attractive, though perhaps lacked a touch of seasoning. The house white was nicely chilled and perfectly quaffable. Desserts came in the form of the cheese board, (generously portioned selections accompanied by a dressed side salad and plenty of fresh bread) and an incredibly moreish pear strudel with vanilla ice cream, one of my personal favourites. Our meal was neatly rounded off with the offer of complimentary coffees, a small but welcome gesture of our custom on a quiet mid-week night. All in all, we enjoyed a great meal and splendid service, all for sixty one euros: we look forward to returning on our next visit to Montmartre."
