"Don't be put off by what appears to be the rather naff pseudo English name Le Home for the hotel part this establishment. Au Pere William is the name of the restaurant and quite nicely puns on the Williams pear (which is included in one of their salads there's a lot of fruit in other dishes too). I'm not sure they intended the reference to the Lewis Carroll rhyme. Basically, this is a delightfully cheery place on the very western edge of the old town of Belves. From the main square, wander along the rue Manchotte and when you come to the end it's diagonally opposite you on the right across the Place Croix des Freres. Charming service of a number of menus between 20 and 30 euros and a well formed carte containing a range of Perigordian fare, including a particularly flavoursome magret de canard with peaches. Slightly cliched presentation (unnecessary balsamic squiggles even at the edge of a white fish dish, and a tile for the dessert which seems to be de rigueur now), but all in all a very pleasurable experience. To cap it all, visit the cleanest restaurant toilets in this part of France!! Well done, mother William!!"

Well worth a visit, scallops were amazing. We had fish, steak and salad and all were fabulous. Lemon tart and pomme fine tart delivered too. Bergerac wine was also lovely. Service was spot on, will definitely return.

Nice sidewalk restaurant, waiter was hurried, (faux fillet) steak was tough. The plat du jour which was Pork, was a better choice. Restaurant could be better and I would try somewhere else if in Belves again. Nothing special.

Cabillaud and his vegetable farandole: a pure pleasure! The gastronomic coffee and the dessert farandole: a slaughter! As for the service: very friendly. To be recommended without reservation. We'll be back. Service: 5 Location: 4 View menu

We eat it pretty well but the boss has to stop taking his head to his guests, he has a demeanored ego (me, me, me... when we want to relax to eat it's not the top! On the other hand, high price quality ratio (please be more than any Service: 2 Location: 3

in our village of Belves, this is always a delight. there has been a new renovation of both the restaurant and the adjoining hotel. William is a fabulous chef, and his beautiful wife, Nathalie, is always a great help in the restaurant. we send all of our guests from our local Gite to Le Hom

I sung here with my aunt and my brother. The atmosphere was beautiful and also the food. We had a 4-course menu for which we have no complaints. I'd say if you're hungry and feel free in the area to stop. You can park right next door, which makes it less than half a minute walk. Conclusion, worth the money and hospitality. We dined as 4 adults and one child one chilly February evening. We had a good welcome which unfortunately went dramatically downhill when it was realised that we were foreign. The same reaction happened to a Dutch family arriving shortly after us. We live in France and don't usually get this reaction at a restaurant. We make an effort to speak French which is usually welcomed. All the starters were OK, especially the lovely smoked salmon which I had. For main course, my husband had the Confit de Canard with Sarladais potatoes. The duck was rather dry and we think shop bought potatoes. I had Steak which was a bit tough and difficult to cut. (Our dogs ate well the next day!! We needed to help o...

"Twenty years ago we were staying on a campsite with our three children and. Ame here as a last night treat - we have never forgotten that meal, the food was amazing and the setting bliss. The chikdren played down by the small stream between courses and the night was bliss. Twenty years later we have managed to return, we booked into the auberge for five nights on a four week tour of France. Natalie the owner has had the auberge for teety five years, but has extended, improved, added hotel rooms, however the place is still as idyllic and the food is still out of this world. It is beautifully presented without being pretentious and with a portion size that is not too small as you somtimes find with this presentation. The goats cheese salad, goats cheese so tangy, fresh, walnuts came alive in your mouth due to freshness and quality. Muse bouche everyday so delicious, gazpacho, saussicon with honey, tiny. Melt in the mouth quiche. Mains equally superb, duck served in a crispy, chinese casing with breast and a sauce, I willl dream about and try to relroduce. Last night a tomato millefieulle was a culinary delight, layered with crab, smoked salmon, and avocado. Puddings have been superb and The profiteroles my husband ordered 20 years ago were still devine. Every night the restaurant is busy but Natalie tries to accomodate all. Recommend you book. We are on a demi pension so we have a set meal each night, this may be difficult in som restaurants but not here as everything on the menu has been so good. Wines have been fab too and extremly reasonable. House carafes so cheap. Hopefully we can return to the Dordogne sooner. If we lived nearby we woukd come very often."
