We called to make a booking: Rude arrogant somehow repulsive attitude of the so renowned chef. no info on menu. this is not what you would expect of a such highly acclaimed institution. not child friendly. good bye gault millaut!

During our visit, the auberge was open only for lunch, for a no choice, fixed price menu, details of which were on a board outside the front door. We were made welcome (we do speak French) and given a table for two, amongst a largely local clientele. There were four courses: clear vegetable soup; Chicken with potatoes and a green salad with walnuts (a local speciality);a plate of three cheeses; an apple clafoutie for dessert.. Included in the price was half-a-litre of Cahors red wine. Service was cheerful and helpful, although an hour-and-a-half needs to be allowed. The atmosphere was rustic, which fitted the environment and clientele. We also had some extra wine, which the landlord refused...

I have been to this wonderful Auberge about a dozen times, spread over different years. Always we have found the service excellent, the food totally homecooked to old recipes using fresh and quality ingredients, and the ambience very friendly and welcoming. Wanting to take a very special friend for her 92nd Birthday I made a reservation. It was only later that I read two terrible reviews so I was very apprehensive in case there had been changes made. I need not have worried. The Menu had been decided by the Chef and five courses were served. Each one was fresh and flavoursome, a delight. My friend was enthralled by her experience and cannot wait to go again. Nor can I. It has not changed one...
