"After arriving before our hotel check-in time, we left our luggage at the hotel (near the Hauptbahnhof central train station) and headed straight to the nearby Augustiner-Keller beer garden, which an "in the know" friend had recommended. What a fun spot! We were surrounded by locals socializing with friends and football fans lubricating for the Bayern-Munich match that evening. Augustiner beer, which isn't exported, is delicious, and there is a good selection of German food. Be aware that smoking is allowed, so choose tour table carefully if that bothers you. Relax, you're now in Munich!"

I enjoyed this beer garden. Nice atmosphere. 6000 or 7000 seats, so it was easy to find a seat even during even during busy times. Quick service. A little pricy for what you get. Food was decent. Beer is available only in liters between 5-10pm; they fill the mugs with a lot of "head" so you actually get much less than a little. Menus are in German and English.
