"this small restaurant has a little nondescript front, very easy to go by. at the arrival they are faced with very steep steps. no elevator or disabled access. when entering the restaurant, they are greeted with an unpleasant smell that they finally get used to. (not sure what to make from it) it has an old but comfortable device. something similar to a seaman pub with separate cabins to eat. we had a warm greeting drink: a large series of gin available (as most places nowadays). amazing whisky and ginger-ale, served in a very heavy high ball glass promptly order drinks and order courses. long wait for the starter good choice of music. van morrison sade easy to listen. still waiting for appetizers our adjacent table ordered and were served, eaten and relieved from their starters. still do not wait a complicated order of starters. smoked salmon for phil scalopes for me. only so far. they wait. minutes and still no starter. it is not as if the girls are busy, they only have covers. I have to admit, I find works of art over my table a little sticky if not pushy. oh, hi. cover just arrived. I'm trying to ask one of the only waiters if the cook wants a hand? cover came. not even spoken. they are waiting. we sat on success. Apart from the font/shell in the scalops I can't mistake it. subtly boiled scallopes in garlic butter. a dream to eat. I could have finished without the grit. outstanding double whisky and ginger ale if it weren't for these excellent drinks, I would have thrown my toys out of the stroller and left to get a bag of chips to share with the möwen. I'm waiting for my blue filet steak. I repeat the waitress, blue. I don't want to see any gray meat on my teller. ... if it appears at some point. I sent the tweeper rings back immediately. they were fat, uncooked, uncoated discs of not what I ordered. the filet steak, although blue, should never have been cooked by a chef who passed his little chef wimpy burger frying class. it was an endpiece full of sinus and needed the skills of a brain surgeon to cut it to find the flesh. asked for the bill. the fastest service to today! the luck was removed the raw wobbles and surprisingly the chips. they were really very nice. recommends to the waiting staff given that an end piece of the filet must be trimmed as it is full of sinus and should never serve as steak, let alone blue. last word, the owner must revise his training methods and they have seriously done their employees an injustice. they don't know better. bless them."

We booked in advance and received a warm welcome when we arrived. The window table that we had requested had lovely harbour views. We enjoyed the beautifully cooked and well presented food, I had mussels, scallops and crevettes and my husband had the duck. There...is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant created by the excellent and cheerful service from the staff and we look forward to holidaying in Brixham again and returning to Beamers. Many thanks for a lovely evening. View menu

We have visited many restaurants in Brixham over the years and was looking forward to eating at Beamers after having seen recommendations on Facebook. The food was cooked well but it was the smallest piece of sea bass I’ve ever been served for and...our daughter-in-law was served with the wrong meal. When the correct meal was served, instead of an apology, she was questioned about what she ordered the way she was spoken too was extremely rude and not how you would expect to be treated when spending on a meal. As a result we wont be recommending Beamers and won’t be returning. Very disappointed.

Took our son and his partner there tonight March and I must say the food was cooked exceptionally well as you would expect as it is a pricy restaurant. However, of the party ordered wild sea bass at each and received...half a fillet each which is totally scandalous. My daughter in law ordered fillet steak with duck pate, kind of a Rossini, but was delivered pan fried duck. Meal was replaced very quickly but one of the ladies who was serving queried whether we had ordered the right meal. This is why my rating is stars, totally rude and unacceptable behaviour and the reason no tips were left. Please improve as the food is great, just need portions and attention to detail to be fixed! only really knew that this restaurant was chosen because it is menu on the wall, but door is pressed between other facilities. the access to the restaurant itself is over steep steps. we were greeted by friendly staff and had no problems getting a table. others had booked in advance. but the restaurant was not full (mid week in the fairytale). I would recommend if they are in the holiday season. decor was interesting, strong nautical thema with stands with the names of boats and other seafaring paraphrenias. I liked the photos on the wall. Many places show the artworks of local artists and add a price tag, which is wrong with it. service was good, although our waitress had clearly forgotten...

We were a table of and we’re really looking forward to our visit as we were told by other local people that it was very good. We’re we’re asked to arrive at and had to wait for the restaurant to be opened which...should have been Thankfully there was a bell to ring and it was opened soon enough. We decided on a three course meal and we’re most surprised at the price of the food. We have certainly had better quality locally at a more reasonable price. Very typical of a old fashioned restaurant….. all comes with boiled veg, potato choice. I opted for the potato Dauphinoise and it was very dry and not creamy enough. When it came to the dessert, all desserts were each and we thought it was a ste...

"It was with a mixture of delight and trepidation that I greeted the news that The Chart Room First Class Coffee Lounge was reopening with new staff. However, I am happy to report that any trepidation I felt was quickly diminished. I tried the scrambled...egg and smoked salmon bagel on the day of opening and was pleased with the excellent quality and presentation of the food. The ambience had not diminished and it was a pleasure to sit surrounded by the fascinating collection of marine memorabilia listening to songs from the 40's and 50's. The initial menu was small but had been well thought out and there was something to appeal to every palate. The service was friendly and efficient and not obtrusive. Since that initial visit, I have returned several times and it has become an excellent venue to meet with friends. I can report further that other items on the menu are of equal quality and presentation to my first foray. I have tried the cream tea with excellent quality scones (nothing shop bought here) and some of the range of sandwiches. My lunching friends have also reported similar enjoyment of their choices of food. The menu has substantially increased since opening and now there are options for all palates that could tempt even the most picky eater. Also there is a new range of afternoon teas available and I am looking forward to sampling the delights on offer. I am a local and was very upset at the forced closure of one of my favourite haunts, however I am extremely happy with the reopening (even though my waistline may not be). Welcome back Bob and the Chart Room staff and long may you continue."
