"We visited the Swanage Railway, and on returning to the Town fancied a small afternoon snack and a cuppa. Beavers Restaurant looked ideal. The first point to make is that as far as we are concerned this is a Cafe, not a Restaurant, despite the...name. My missus selected a ham salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I selected a tuna mayonnaise sandwich. I also asked for some onion and tomato on the sandwich. It was perfectly ok, although the bread was the bland sliced wholemeal, the factory stuff that you buy in a supermarket, rather than a bakers. There was no side salad or crisps like many cafes garnish sandwiches with. For drinks a pot of tea and a can of of diet 7 Up were selected. We then asked for the bill. At a smidgen under £20 I took a closer look. £5.95 for the salad, and £1.99 for the tea was fair enough. But £2.75 for a can of diet lemonade that is no more than 40p in a supermarket multi pack. What a rip off. But It got worse. We had been charged £8.95 for the tuna sandwich. I queried this, as it was only £5.95 on the menu. It was confirmed as being correct, as the extras, namely a bit of tomato and a bit of onion were charged at £1.50 each! To be fair, it has to be said that the price of these 'extras ' is shown on the menu, but that does not excuse the sheer greed of this establishment in charging £3 to add a few bits of tomato and onion to a sandwich. I feel fortunate that I didn 't ask for a slice of cheese to be added as well I would probably have had to re mortgage the house!"

rude kellnerin with seriously worse setting that would not let us sit together as family and moderately overcooked eating. not elsewhere to come back.

I visit Beavers several times a week when I am in Swanage. Fry up breakfast is excellent and not heavy at all. And the eggs are local and taste amazing. Baked potato also my go to favourite, with a small side salad that is prepared...with the perfect amount of dressing. Staff are welcoming, efficient and attentive. Thank you Beavers!

My wife and I were looking for somewhere to have breakfast during a recent trip to Swanage. We came across Beavers and thought it looked quite nice. It was definitely a smart move. The service was friendly and quick. We both had scrambled egg and...bacon on toast with orange juice and a tea and coffee respectively. The food was delicious and the cafe bright, clean and welcoming. I'd happily recommend it.

Hilarious name, love the poster of the beavers. The concept of the cafe is really quirky and fun. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t great. We came here for lunch on my birthday and ordered two burgers, both tasted of nothing.. just tasted like defrosted meat without...any seasoning. The portions of chips was massive and I mean massive, quite tasty but nothing to die for. We were glad we ordered extra coleslaw as the buns were very dry, don’t bother ordering extra cheese though as you can barely see it/taste it. I’d rather pay a visit to Wimpys across the road if you fancy a burger. This place has so much potential, just needs a new chef!

I hate doing negative reviews, but from the start, I must say I have always enjoyed having lunch over the years in the Beavers Restaurant in beautiful Swanage but the last two times I have seen a disappointing downturn in the quality and amount...of food served on the plate this week I ordered off the Specials Board, Steak Ale Pie, one of my favourites it was not very nice ! The meat was tough, chewy and contained a lot of gristle I couldn 't eat the meat, so left it the 'pie ' was a spoonful of beef stew topped with a puff pastry top surely a 'pie ' is a complete encompassing pastry case with meat and veg inside ?? If you serve a good steak pie then it should be made from premium meat and c...

A Saturday night 6.50pm visit for dinner during the Folk Festival. The Menu boasts fresh homemade food. Ordered off the menu a chicken Korma, strawberry milk shake.the milk shake can in a small glass with a refill jug. Most places would just give you a...large glass! The milk shake said made it ice cream but this milkshake wasn’t thick nor did it have much strawberry flavour. The plate was hot the curry had a reheated look to it. This curry was lack lustre the chicken dry and over cooked and the sauce tasted and looked like it was from a jar. The curry felt mass produced and nothing home made . The popadom and mango chutney again didn’t have a look or feel of home made. The lemon meringue pi...

"We had the best time here on Saturday lunch. We arrived early to a quiet restaurant and were greeted by super friendly and well informed staff, who made us feel at ease and explained their new ‘small plates’ menu. Our kids were given a nice menu with colouring in and nothing seemed too much to ask for. We decided to let our 4 and 6 year old order from their kids menu and hoped they would try some of our dishes too. The menu really is very appealing, so much so that the 3 adults ended up ordering EVERY dish they had on the menu in the end! I think it was 16 various dishes of meats, fish, veggies and pasta’s. All homemade and with a really modern vibe. Our waitress was soo good at making us feel at ease we had the best time. A few dishes were ordered and came out really fast we were overjoyed at how beautiful they looked, and the flavours we so well balanced and punchy we got really giddy and decided to order all of the other dishes and just share them all out. Have to say each dish was a triumph, my favourite was the pork ‘burnt ends’ with sweet and sour carrots and a mustard sauce, my partners was the pointed cabbage dish with sesame, my mothers the beetroot and goats cheese crispy ball. They all were delicious, and our kids tried loads of new things like a crab pasta and a cheesey focaccia. It seems like they really thought these little dishes out soo well, temperatures, textures, colours, flavours, elegance we’ve not had anything like this outside of London. So, 16 plates in, plus the kids had their main course… we were all full up, felt like we’d been on a culinary adventure. And then we were offered something sweet okay maybe we were just being greedy, maybe we just couldn’t resist not trying more?! The kids had a ‘build your own dessert’ of ice cream and sauces and sprinkles and cake bits looked great but sadly only for kids! We had their ‘sweet things’, kind of like large petit fours. Chocolatey cake balls, salted caramel truffles and tart passion fruit jellies all were amazing! By the time we left, the restaurant was really busy and I can see why we will most certainly be coming again! Thank you!"
