"So pleased that this unique bar is open and apparently flourishing, even if it is limited to Thursdays Sundays, I believe. This superb little bar is just lovely, and although I am not totally convinced with the new current colour scheme, the overall effect is excellent, and the lighting and fittings make this wonderful 'antique ' area magical. Top marks must be given to the staff, all of whom were in immaculate uniform, and could not have been more helpful. The cocktails they were producing were first class, and the whole atmosphere was really special. If you want to be assured of a table, then it is necessary to book for a two hour slot, primarily of course as space is so limited. Congratulations to the current owner, the Angel Royal appears to be flourishing."

Our 1st trip, excellent menu and the food was very good indeed. Will visit again The Scallop starter was very generous followed by filet steak, did not have enough room for a pudding but it was a lovely dessert menu. Will visit again.

We had an excellent Sunday Roast at The Angel and Royal today. The staff were so professional, helpful and courteous. The meal was excellent. The roast dinners were delicious, the beef was cooked how you requested it and the lamb and chicken roasts were equally as good, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thankyou to your wonderful staff

What an enjoyable catch up with my friend from offer of water when arriving to making sure we had the code for the free carpark when leaving We decoded to have the fish finger sandwich, best I've ever tasted. Only complaint we were too full to try a sweet. Very generous pot of tea for two, finishing with coffee and hot milk. We will definitely be visiting here again for lunch and on our list for a Xmas get together with friends

Wow, absolutely amazing meal last night with a girlfriend. From the moment we were first greeted the service was really first class! You could tell one or two of the girls were young and new, but very obviously being trained to a hight standard! Nothing was too much trouble for them! The food, well, outstanding! For a small town like Grantham this really was top nosh! The atmosphere was also very nice, sat in the corner, everything was perfect! I often call in for a drink, but will definitely be returning in the New Year to dine with you again!

Adult family dinner. Staff exemplary. We all had lamb. The lamb didn't taste like lamb although I understand it was cooked untraditionally. Roast potatoes were overcooked and hard. Yorkshire pudding had got to be ready made supermarket at best, hard. Parsnips overcooked and quite awful. Other vegetables were fine. My daughter decided she couldn't eat her dinner after a few bites and left it. I'm the type that will eat anything but I couldn't finish. My son in law complained, Expecting to at least not pay for my daughter's we were made to pay in full. We traveled 50 miles having been before... Won't be back!

My friend and I had tickets to see the theatre production of Joseph and his multicoloured dream coat at St Wulfram’s Church. We decided on the off chance that we would try lunch here. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had a peppermint tea, my friend had an earl grey tea….then I had a BLT on a seeded toasted bloomer, which came with side of rocket leaves and crisps. My friend had a tuna and cheese melt, which also came with a side of rocket and crisps……we enjoyed our lunch. We were totally fascinated with the old building, absolutely stunning architecture! Must look at the history behind it! We enjoyed our first visit.

we visited Grantham by. most of the midday rooms have not visited us, so we ended up in this place that looked more like a hotel from outside. in the interior we were greeted in the lounge of the house, where more people had already gathered. through the impoverished imprint “historical market town Grantham” on us, this must have been the local elite. the ambiente and the service here were impeccable and very pleasant. the simple lunch menu offered exactly what we had been looking for and that was in order. so we recommend this restaurant (which was not referred to as bistro, when we visited). pure English style, we would say.

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
