"Our daughter bought us a voucher for afternoon Tea which we were very much looking forward to. We chose to go to the Aylsham venue rather than Norwich so that we could enjoy a visit to the town both before and after the event. Our time was booked for 12.00noon. We were shown to our table, everything was explained and we were invited to look at the beautiful selection of cakes, scones, teas and coffees available. The choice of sandwiches and various bread options..... So far so good. The place was busy but not crowded. My wife and I were really enjoying our food in a quaint little place..... However one of the waitresses said three times to us that they could provide boxes for anything we wanted to take home if we couldnt manage to eat it straight away.....! It got to 1.20 pm and we were just about to start to eat the final tier of what looked like delicious cake when the same waitress came to our table and said..... The next people were here and could we please consider finishing up to vacate the table ! At no time were we told that there was a time limit ,never mind a 90 minute time limit to enjoy our otherwise lovely afternoon tea. I have since checked out the website and to my knowledge there is nothing on there to say that the clock is being watched and a fast food mentality is enforced upon customers. I make a point of writing this review as a warning to others so that they can get a starting and leaving time agreed before the drive over 40 miles as we did to visit this place."

Love the church ambience and the Raspberry Bakewell cake was literally the best I have ever had, tops the Caramel Apple Granny I loved in Texas four years ago. Coffee was gorgeous too

Lunch time sandwiches and rolls with a selection of cakes that were all stunning. Ambience brilliantly relaxing, staff all very friendly and helpful. I had a veg “sausage” roll which was perfect

Certainly would not go back, I had booked online for a birthday treat, but they said my name was not on the list, staff were not helpful, would/could not offer any solution to such a disappointing visit. It had been recommended by a friend, even they were disappointed with their unhelpful attitude.

We visited Biddys, for a sandwich, cake and tea. The chicken, stuffing and cranberry sandwicg was tasty and fresh. The carrot cake and lemon drizzle cake were served with fresh cream and a fruit. They were moist and delicious. The compact garden was pretty and sheltered. Staff were pleasant and efficient. The cafe was cosy and comfortable. View menu

I’ve been to Biddys in Aylsham for years, but never again ! Last week it was not a good experience. The food was nice but overly expensive. But the bad things were how dirty and dilapidated the place has become . The toilets are filthy , the ladies door was hanging off the rails and wouldn’t close or lock. The decor has definitely seen its day . The place needs a revamp , it’s gone so much downhill, such a shame . And it was so cold in there too. They’ve certainly lost my families custom .

What an absolutely fabulous afternoon tea! The family and I all loved the fact that we could pick the flavour of our sandwich, scone and cake it made the tea so individual. And with that the sandwich was made fresh. The scones and cakes were divine, one of the best afternoon teas I’ve had. Not being a tea drinker I had coffee, and the coffee was lovely. My only very slight criticism is that the pot of tea for two would have benefited from a tea cosy to keep it warm. The tea room is so welcoming and cosy and dog friendly. Would definitely return for another visit.

How to enjoy a visit to Biddy's Tea Rooms: 1. Ideally, go with someone you like. 2. Drink tea rather than coffee, there is a huge choice and if you are not sure about which one to choose, ask the staff, they are all approachable and will be delighted to help you. 3. Choose something to eat, don't worry if you need gluten free or even vegan, there will be excellent sandwich and cake options for you. 4. Put your phones away and talk to each other, you might be surprised how much you enjoy it. 5. Enjoy your food and drink (you will) and don't feel a need to rush anywhere. 6. If you can't finish your food (not unusual), the staff will box it up for you to take home. This approach always works fo... View menu

So disappointed cycled to Aylsham today hoping to have lunch in Biddys. On arrival, several vacant tables no member of staff visible, so we hung around in the hope of being seated. Eventually a member of staff came through, carrying another customers order. Didn’t acknowledge that we were there, but just continued through to deliver the order. He then returned and said ‘do you want a table.’ To which we replied in the affirmative, only to be told ‘there is a table over there go and sit down but don’t expect anything for at least 20 minutes’ in normal circumstances if we had been given the information in a more apologetic and professional manner, we would happily have sat down and waited, but...

Booked a table for afternoon tea at Biddy’s Aylsham. Thought we’d try it as was thinking of buying a voucher as a present for family for Christmas . As we were told which table (not shown to our table) service was initially polite and the food was excellent. However the experience was spoiled as each time my husband tried to attract the attention of a member of staff (both the one who initially took our order and another staff member) he was actually ignored!! I saw for myself that the member of staff was looking as she came in the direction of our table and then completely looked past as my husband started speaking to her so rude!! This happened 3 times so definitely not a mistake. My husba...

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
