"Went to the Bisque restaurant for a Father’s Day meal. Unfortunately the experience was average, not the fine dining experience we expected. The langoustine starter was the first disappointment. The description states “Signature bisque with black olive, parmesan and basil risotto, buttered langoustine tails”. When the dish arrived there was one piddling langoustine tail on top of a huge croquet of risotto in the bisque. My mother in law and I ate our langoustine starters, commenting on how misleading the menu was. The dish was ok, consisting of mainly the risotto and bisque. The bisque was not the best we’ve ever had (too sweet and not much seafood flavour coming through). My husband had the Steak Tartare starter which he described as “vinegar-y”. My father in law had the goats cheese starter which looked nice and fresh, and tasted delicious. For the main, I ordered the lamb cutlets and requested them to be cooked medium. They arrived well-done. The steak knife I was given was very old with the coating having peeled off unevenly from the blade and it was not sharp at all. There were 4 cutlets served but 2 were still in one piece (ie they should have been sliced apart) and the whole thing was drenched in the same gravy sauce that was covering my husband’s duck dish. My parents in law seemed happy with their mains (beef stroganoff with rice and salmon in pastry). The staff were nice and friendly but rushing around a lot (despite the restaurant only being half full) and they kept forgetting about us. We had to keep waving them down. At the end of each course we had empty plates lingering on the table for too long. There didn’t appear to be any management overseeing the restaurant, something I’d expect in a fine dining restaurant. While paying, I decided to mention the langoustines to the waitress. I said that the description states that there should be more than one langoustine tail. She responded quickly and defensively (with a prepared answer suggesting this issue has been raised before) instead of taking the feedback. She said there were tails laced through the risotto and in the bisque. If this is the case then the menu needs to be updated to reflect this accurately. Personally I doubt this as bisque is normally made using shell and the risotto did not have any langoustine through it (I could only taste the olive, parmesan and basil as mentioned in the menu). After this experience, I will not be returning."

"they write this on the train to house as we just agreed what a nice place is the harbourable. in troon for the day and we wanted to find a place to get out of the fresh wind and have a pint and meal. we were dressed for a winter walk on the beach and wanted to sniff somewhere and relax, so some places felt dressed and on the show. we went off the road that had found the harbourable randomly, and felt happy to have them found! there are two mainbars and a snout; we were offered a stand there. big meal- there was a special board, and load on the menu: we went with gyros, and an old dirty (a deconstructed cheesy chips and steak pee! tw showed the rugby, we could watch, but it was 't on loud, so that they were chatting themselves, and the place is dog friendly, so that we two. left feeling relaxed after what might have been a stressful day. we'll be back if we can. maybe even with a friend who has a dog (which may sometimes be complicated in some bars, but definitely welcomes here . nice staff, especially our main server- we had a nice chat with her great service, cold beer. What else do you want? it has actually been busier and busier, with tables reserved, and fill this modest size space (although I think it has a beer garden complete with hula girl in summer! , so I would suggest booking a head so they are not disappointed. this is the perfect traditional beach pub."
