"Nice little terrace. Sweet waitstaff. I did have some issues with this place and dinner. Ordered a medium rare butchers choice steak and it came medium well. Person didn't check if everything was okay until 15 min in. Was served the wrong dish Fish was cooked nice, slightly flavorless. There were motion activated lamps that suddenly would light up really bright when people walked past. In total the food was average both me and my partner would rate the food and experience about 5.5/10 It was a bit frustrating as we went for a birthday celebration but this place has potential but currently not there yet."

"pleasant reception, cleanliness, bright room, table space are, already, incentive elements. the card does not make kilometers, and it is very good but, it offers a varied choice of fresh products with no chichis dishes names. The shares are generous. but (there is often one but,) in terms of the current economic and geopolitical situation, if we want to benefit from this offer they will have to increase the prices. It's normal and logical. between the outbreak of energy from raw materials, expenses, wages and without forgetting the state (whatever it costs will be paid) with its inventiveness to produce taxes and taxes will not fail to invite itself to the waltz of prices. The cellier is not the only one in this situation. to us, customers, to understand and accept an inevitable price increase in order to continue to satisfy our taste buds. outside of my digression: it's really good, don't hesitate to push the door (think to book.)"

"Le Bistro de Claude was superb and I can't wait to return again soon. We had the 3 course dinner and a stunning bottle of wine from the Loire Valley which was perfectly recommended by the waiter based on our request for a very light, dry wine. The restaurant had a buzzing feeling and the waiters all very chic and helpful. The staff are all professional and they are all passionate about this Cognac institution. Claude himself was there also which was great, and you can just see how much he loves his restaurant and his customers.We had a delicious melon salade, beautiful limousin beef with pasta and I had fromage while my partner had the cafe gourmand. The coffee was great too. Highly recommended. It was around 115€ for 2 people for 3 courses, wine and coffee. Excellent value for money."

"beautiful establishment, well decorated room in a chic bourgeois style, pleasant patio with exposed stones and fountain. professional staff, attentive to the client. service of standing: the composition of the dishes is indicated, individual breads to choose from, picking of the crumbs, white tablecloths. several wines with glass at 5€: good white Charente and good rosé Provence. 1st menu at 32€ (or 27€ with flat or flat-dessert). Amuse-bouche served even without aperitif (3 for each) a pre-entrance. In the entrance we chose the langoustines (with pistachio oil and melon/serrano tartare), then in flat the back of cod mousseline fennel and radish, for dessert the gourmet coffee and the Paris-Brest. Disappointing desserts: in the gourmet coffee, the macaron's hull was dry and the Paris-Brest cabbage paste had not been lifted, it was flat and the cream had a hot blow it would seem. little taste elsewhere. It's too bad. even the mignardises offered after dessert were disappointing (mini dulled not very aesthetic and mini coconut rock dry). otherwise in the menu at 32€ it is for its money. We'll be back one night hoping the flat on the desserts will have been fixed. possibility to buy the wine bottles served at the restaurant."

"The good reviews keep coming and deservedly so, though with caveats. Firstly the food we received was great, considering it’s just one chef preparing for a dozen or so tables its very well managed. The duck breast was possibly the nicest we’ve all tasted….but there’s the first caveat, we all had to have the same dish as the menu is tiny, choice is not what you come here to receive. Two main dishes, my allergies only meant I could eat the duck, and my wife and children only wanted the duck. We all had duck. The waitress/hostess was also sadly lacking in a friendly air and actually made me feel rather uncomfortable that we’d brought our children here for lunch – she also attempted to charge full price for the children’s food, admittedly there isn’t a children’s food option but the portions were half the size so full price was an unnecessary attempt in my opinion. Would I return? I’m glad I’ve been and would recommend others to visit – but no, I wouldn’t return. There aren’t many options in Cognac but the good ones I would say are better if you have children."
