"I took my elderly mum for a late lunch today at Book Bean Ice Cream and it was a wonderful visit. We ordered a creamy vegetable soup and a pea and ham soup. They were the most delicious soups I’ve had in a long time, beautifully presented and the bread was soft and fresh.Afterwards we each had a frothy coffee and shared a carrot cake which was delightful.Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful. This was our first visit and we will definitely return to this cosy cafe which incidentally sells books and gifts as well as a large ice cream selection.Outstanding and well done for making my mum very happy."

The best almond tart ever! They also offer amazing toasted cheese scones, and even the fruit scones can be served warm upon request. The coffee is top-notch and always served piping hot!

Excellent value quality coffee hot choc with great cakes! The staff always work hard and have great banter with customers. The staff here are great can’t understand the other posters comments! One of best lunch spots in area IMO.

My experience at this restaurant was excellent. We stopped by for lunch and I had the best bacon sandwich I've ever tasted. The service was great, with friendly staff and tables spaced out nicely so it didn't feel cramped. For dessert, we enjoyed tea and chocolate cake. I will definitely be returning, as the atmosphere was lovely and they also sell books and gifts. Overall, an excellent experience.

Called in ordered and paid for 2 coffees. After 15 minutes a member of staff asked in a loud abrupt voice if we were thinking of ordering anything like we had just come. in to get warm. Very embarrassing. Then our daughter arrived. I tried to order a coffee for her and was told hot drinks had stopped being served with 30 minutes to closing. A coffee shop with no coffee . Knowing how Kirkham is going I thought customers would be welcome

Stopped here as we passed through. Found a little table in booth, ordered from blackboard menu. We had the soup and sandwich deal £6). Delicious home made soup, lovely granary bread. Choice of soup and sandwiches! The server was so cooperative when I asked for beans on toast with cheese for my 4 yr old. Home-made Cakes and ice cream delicious. Friendly service/ Lovely decor/ clean toilets. Really enjoyed our visit! Well done. Lisa, Anne and Alexander View menu

I went to this restaurant for a coffee and a crumpet. The crumpet was delicious with butter, and the coffee was amazing. My friend ordered coffee and a cake, but I didn't get to taste it so I can't comment on that. I also bought a book while I was there. The staff and the manager were very friendly, and they were willing to make a coffee that wasn't on the menu. I highly recommend going to this restaurant. I will definitely visit again when I am in Kirkham.

A lovely cafe bookshop ice cream parlour.A great idea for combining different areas all for the benefit of the consumer.A great selection of freshly cooked foods and snacks, great coffee and lovely ice cream. The baked potatoes where great, hence the cleared plates. Will definitely be back as good value for money. One small point is the inability to take Scottish notes due to forgeries.Pretty sure English notes get forged as well but though the new materials etc stopped all that.
