"We stopped by for dinner late on Saturday and were lucky to get seated, on one of the tables on the restaurant’s terrace. Great ambience for sure. They have a meat or seafood set menu for Eur35, with 3 courses and a dessert. Good value. I found the food hit and miss though, with quite a few dishes being quite over salted. We ordered a meat set menu (cheese and meats platter, truffle pasta, roast pork and potatoes, tiramisu) and fish set menu (sashimi, seafood pasta which was much too salty to finish, boiled cod with chickpea mash, pudding), and the rest of my party ordered from the normal menu: assorted ravioli, and duck lasagnette, both of which were well presented and seasoned. Service though was really slow and it took us from 930 to 1130pm to get through dinner…"

"A brevissima distanza da uno dei gioielli della Toscana, il piccolo paese di Monteriggioni rimasto dopo tanti secoli praticamente immodificato all 'interno della sua splendida cinta muraria, suggerisco una sosta gastronomica molto particolare al Ristorante Bottega dell 'Abate, dove, con una gestione rigidamente familiare, vengono serviti, in un menu estremamente contenuto, pochi ma ottimi piatti della tradizione senese, Tra i quali i favolosi pici rigidamente fatti in casa e insaporiti all 'aglione . Il tutto condito con l 'olio d 'oliva ed innaffiato con il vino (ovviamente Chianti Classico) prodotti dalla famiglia che gestisce il locale. Si mangia, spesso in compagnia con altri ospiti occasionali, su lunghi tavoli con panche di legno, e si paga, esclusivamente in contanti, alla cassa, perchè qui, nel rispetto dell 'antico, non hanno ancora scoperto i Bancomat e le Carte di Credito!!!"

"a return visit after a three-year interval and beautiful as ever. great eating beautifully presented and served by dedicated, friendly and friendly staff. Excellent value for money and so a beautiful place to a few hours away. the weeping didn't seem quite on the fast trip to covid, but I'm sure it will be back soon, but it was good to buy the wee we enjoyed with our meal. only a great place!"

"Living close by we have heard about La Rana, now we tried it. Very nice little place, very friendly and helpfull waiters, particularly the young female waiter who served us and who should not be blamed for anything. She was only doing what her superior told her to do. The food was fine, but not particularly interesting we had 2 pasta and 2 main courses the pizza looked very good . It was quite full they did not respect the distance of 1 meter between tables, but had obviously set up more to be able to take in more guests than they ought to , so the waiting time was understandable, even though there were 4 waiters for about 60 seats. But..... we had reserved a table for nine o clock they close at ten thirty ,having to wait some minutes ok, fine and had our pasta about 9.20 ok, fine but at 9.30 they started to take away seats in tables around us wihtout due respect to the remaining guests they were simply closing one hour earlier than they said they would. A bit disturbing, but ok, fine. We both work in the restaurant industry and can understand that one tries to anticipate. It meant though that we had to wait for the main course while they did their duties. 3 waiters then left leaving the nice girl alone to finish, she brought our plates and, obviously as told started the final sanification of the premisses, meaning that she went around our table and those of the other remaing guests with a spray bottle of alcohol to disinfect within five minutes all our food tasted of disinfection spray uneatable. We left it, asked for the bill still before closing time and went to tell the owner WHY we had left it, he did not even excuse for the incident, but put on an arrogant face, saying that those are the rules He made us pay the full bill and saluted us saying that he hoped never to see us again !!! He definetely will not !!!"
