"There is nothing on the outside of this fantastic restaurant, located in a very small village in the countryside, that will prepare you for what awaits you inside, and that is apart from the delicious food. This restaurant was beautifully and stylishly appointed, with brick/tiled floors, white walls, gold and black light fittings, gold armchairs with black upholstery, Romanesque looking gold and black planter stands, large round tables with linen tablecloths and small vases of fresh flowers, and black, white and gold crockery that was specifically designed and made for the restaurant. It was stunning. There appeared to be three separate dining rooms and we were seated in the one in the middle with a great view of the kitchen through a large glass window. The maître d' was Luca, brother to Francesco the Chef, and Luca was ably assisted by Alicia who spoke very good English. We chose the tasting menu (Euro160 per head) which consisted of an amuse bouche, 3 starters, 6 dishes including dessert and a superb selection of petit fours with coffee. There were also 4 different types of house made bread as well as gluten free bread. The tasting menu included a type of soup with cappuccino and onion foam, a terrine of tomatoes with prawn tartare and passion fruits, Chianina tongue with a warm parmigiana cheese sauce and jelly chicken stock, gnocchi made with nettles together with a fois gras pudding and grape juice, pigeon with carrots and chocolate sauce together with a terrine of the pigeon livers with a tartare of pigeon fillet and risotto with mushrooms. The dessert was wild berries with gelato. Every single dish looked and tasted delicious. The petit fours came in a 3 tier cake stand with 2x9 different tasty morsels. Wine list was extensive. we took Luca's suggestion and had a bottle of the restaurant's own cabernet sauvignon which we thought was excellent. Service was impeccable. Luca and Alicia were friendly, attentive and informative. We were lucky enough to be able to thank Francesco before we left for cooking such a superb meal and were given a beautifully coloured container of their own olive oil a great momento of a wonderful lunch. We will definitely return when next in Tuscany."

Hidden gem. Off the beaten track, in Massa Marittima, but most definitely worth a visit. Run by two brothers presenting an exquisite culinary selection. We had the most wonderful experience (esp recommended the beef tartare of carne Chianina and the pigeon). Highly recommended.

Get your big wallet, go there and enjoy. Outstanding and very knowledgeable service, though be aware that little English is spoken. The tasting menu took us on an amazing journey through Tuscany a lot of dishes are rooted in local cuisine but the chef plays with the ingredients, finds new combinations, textures. The pairing wines were a hit, from a classical Bolgheri red to rare biodynamic wines from the neighborhood to a fantastic salty Sicillian white to accompany the cheese (there were more... . We dived into a heaven of culinary for a few hours and left reality and the rain outside behind us. Grazie! And yes, it's pricey but I would say it's adequate for the quality and uniqueness of the...

Francesco e Luca Brancali sono molto simpatico. Francesco cooks on a top level, Luca is the niciest waiter ever, but it is to expensive. U have the classici menu, u can add 2 more plates or you can choose for the 3 or 4 dishes, so they wont throw away food, cause they will cook what they have. The ingredients are not expensive, no lobster, no white truffle and prices of 170 to 190 euro is because of the 2 stars. When we had lunch it was my wife and I and one very big guy (he ould eat! . Make it half the price and your restaurant is full. Finishing with an espresso for 10 euro is 10x times as much because of the shining stars. Then better go to Il Frantoio in Montescudaio where Simone is in t...

What an incredible experience!!! A friend in Sassofortino suggested this restaurant. When we arrived we were the only ones for lunch. We felt like we had a private staff of 5 and a villa to ourselves. The 11 course meal was just incredibly good . Every course beautifully presented paired perfectly with Valdonica wines and the house Cabernet. We are from the Napa Valley and the house Cabernet would compete well with the top Napa cabs. We had an 11 course meal and share all three of the main course specials , pigeon , beef check and lamb . Everything including the unique place setting were beautiful. And the price was the lowest we had ever paid for 2 stars and great wine. There is good food a...

My daughter and son-in-law's birthdays are 2 days apart and they chose this restaurant for their combo celebration. I was lucky enough to be in Italy at the time. First, the service was impeccable down to the fact that you received a new napkin on a silver platter if you used the restroom during the meal. As a decorative artist the Verscace dinner ware didn't go past me. My water glass was never empty. The dishes served went beyond my expectations. Each was delicious, unique and pared well with the next. There were 5 of us and we were all amazed. The desserts were also magical. Like works of art really. Is Bracali expensive? Yes, and it should be. What you receive is much more than just a go...

I am writing in May 2017. We visited Ristorante Bracali in October, 2016. The memory is fresh and vibrant. I do not believe we have ever had an experience quite like this. We were staying in an Azienda Agricola nearby, when my wife found a reference to Bracali in one of her guidebooks. I called to make a reservation. On the night we dined at Bracali, my wife and I were the only customers. The interior is beautiful. The staff was attentive but considerate. Besides Francesco Bracali, the masterful chef, and Luca Bracali, his brother and sommelier, there were a waitress and two kitchen staff. Words are not adequate to describe the food. Francesco Bracali is an artist. The food was beautifully p...

This is definitely a hidden gem in the Ghirlanda countryside and I am not sure how you would get here without a car. As I have described in earlier reviews, the interior is very modern and extremely elegantly furnished. We booked for lunch and unfortunately we were about a half an hour late as we had problems booking into our accommodation in nearby Massa Marrittima. We phoned to let the restaurant know and it was no problem at all. There were three different menu choices the Al la Carte, the Classic degustation (EUR 170-00 per person) or the Frank degustation (EUR 190-00 per person). We chose the Frank menu which started with an amuse bouche, followed by four appertisers including a spritze...

This was our second visit to this hidden gem that is located in the small country village of Ghirlanda. This restaurant is rather nondescript on the outside but once you step through the front door you enter a beautifully decorated and elegant Roman inspired interior with pastel coloured walls and gold and black chairs and other furnishings. The restaurant is owned and run by the Bracali brothers, Francesco a largely self taught culinary wizard and Luca, who is a wine guru and also a delightful front of house host. There was an a la carte menu as well as several degustation menus to choose from. We both chose the Frank menu which was EUR190 per person. The menu included three amuse bouche, b...
