"Braugasthof Grosch GmbH Co. KG Oeslauerstr. 115 D-96472 Rödental Fon: 49 (0) 95 63 7 50 0 Fax: 49 (0) 95 63 7 50 147 info (at) der-grosch.de Rating: • Good Franconian cuisine • Very well visited on weekends • Own brewery with excellent beer • Priced for the region slightly overpriced It is due to the local “Verwandtschaftsbande” that a trip to the Bavarian doll city of Neustadt/Coburg is made several times a year. The arrival after about 2 hours is usually then shortly before noon and the hunger is correspondingly great. And great is always the curiosity of the place we are guided into. We were recently allowed to eat in the Braugasthof Grosch in Rödental. A table was ordered for 12.00. Unfortunately, the parking spaces were all occupied on the premises and we had to walk a few more steps. The place itself made a more depressing impression on me with its ragful wooden ceilings, the partially overloaded furnishings and the somewhat trembling light due to the small windows. But others find it just because of it rustic and cozy. It was full this day, really amazing. Surprisingly, I found that immediately after taking the places for the children of our Austrian department, pens and leaves were brought to paint. The menu was once again something with about 20 dishes and over 10 beers, which took some time until everyone decided to eat. I opted for oxen breast with horseradish sauce, with homemade claws and fresh salads and of course a beer from the in-house brewery with a family tradition of over 600 years. It was the Grosch Zwickl, which I selected from the many beers and which was called: Grosch Zwickl. The full-bodied, hot Zwickl is characterized by its fine-hearted hop taste. In addition, the unfiltered beer is very cosy as it is brewed with the healthy natural beer yeast. A subferrous speciality with 11.5% stem wort and 4.9% alcohol. And how did it taste? I was able to answer this mandatory question positively. It tasted really good. The meat was soft and delicate, the horseradish sauce was just hmm..hmm, the Thüringer Klöße a poem, again and again a poem when we are there in Oberfranken, because in Würzburg there are not. The salad was tasty and the beer was great. I'd like to have one more drink, but it wasn't allowed. The service came after eating with the question whether a dessert or a coffee is desired, and the invoice was also brought by a stylishly dressed operation without great delay. However, prices are up to a third higher than other restaurants in this remote area of Upper Franconia. They are approximately at the level used in larger cities. Nevertheless, I will look forward to a next time."

Ladies and gentlemen, you cannot speak of a cozy business Christmas celebration. You are forced to get the food and the quality was moderate. Unfortunately too expensive and not recommended.

There was a vegan option on the map, a herbal curry. The dish was very sparingly seasoned and has not tasted very well. Besides, the price was quite high, over 15€ I would not visit again. Annex: One year later, the herbal curry is just as faded. I could not taste the vegan ice cream as a dessert. Updated by previous review on 2021-08-21

We haven't been in the inn for a few years, and we've always tasted great. Unfortunately, this was probably part of the past. The soup was lukewarm, the sour roast was very clear (3 small slices) and unfortunately the former so wonderful monasteries were completely boiled and sour. But the sauce was great and the operation was very friendly.

The house is very well managed and even with the strongest customer rank (on Sundays) there is no impairment of the service, as the staff is carefully and well selected. The kitchen is very good, with particular mention being made of local cuisine. Prices are not very low, but they are also justified because of the quality of food. Also recommended is the self-baked beer, which, however, appears somewhat too expensive on sale due to its own production.

Good German gastronomy and home beer are among the essential elements for me, which represent my cultural identity and always confirm the new one. Since I was allowed to spend essential years of my youth and youth in Coburg, the Oeslauer Brauerei Gasthof Grosch stands for me with its centuries-old tradition in a prominent place in the institutions where I can learn what my home is. I hope that my grandchildren can benefit in the same way from what my parents and I have done from young years.

Durfte already participate in a brewery tour with subsequent beer tasting. It was incredibly interesting and revealing and I can only recommend anyone interested in this. After that, there is a spund deck for beer tasting and a final meal consisting of either pepperhaxe or pork roast. Both can only be recommended and is quite suitable for clubs, hiking groups, family celebrations or the like. You can only recommend to go outside the guided tour, for example to eat with the family on Sundays.

Since 1425 there is the historic Braugasthof in Rödental, which today also houses a very nice and cozy hotel. There is also a very interesting brewery tour with a delicious tasting of beers and a menu adapted to beer specialities. In summer there is a beautiful beer garden and for the hotel there are various packages. Very close and within walking distance, the castle Rosenau is surrounded by a magnificent English park. First, look at the castle and park and then strengthen or vice versa, you should not miss the Braugasthof Grosch. Open daily from 8 p.m.
