"this is one of the parts of tripadvisor. we were impressed by the reviews of cafe du centre and drove quite a long way to experience a good breakfast just to find the place unexpectedly closed. that was not a pleasant surprise because there are...no other caffes in the village and we had to drive a long way before we found another. we were in two heads, how many stars give this caffe, as to be fair, we had no chance to experience their facilities. However, we are firmly convinced that the onus stands on them to keep their potential customers on track to achieve some improvements they need to know in advance. Apart from a scary note on the door, there was no announcement online, which is why we gave them a star. everyone who thinks to go there before the 12th march doesn't bother!"

This is the place we've been returning to for some 20 years now. Extremely nuce terrace between Platain trees in the city centre of a sleepy medieval French town. Relaxed in capitals. Food not great, but ambiance and drinks superb!

The terrace is really nice and the stuff is friendly. However, their espresso has not much to do with an espresso. It is more like a German coffee, you only get a bit less in a small cup. What I really did not like was...the toillette. M and F have one toillette and the urinare for men is on the exact height of ones nose when she/he uses the toillette and is on the distance of less then half a meter. View menu

There is no doubt that Villedieu is a lovely village and that Cafe du Centre is a good, traditional French bar and cafe. NB however that although this cafe is included in the Saint Didier restaurant section of TA, and the map and references to.. restaurants nearby would have you believe that it is in nearby Venasque it is not. Villedieu is situated to the north of Vaison la Romaine is about an hour's drive from St Didier and/or Venasque.

we were close, so visited the place at a series of locations. this caffe has a good feeling, and is popular with local and visitors. at the end of a bike tour we wanted to get a drink, but also. a few evenings with the rest of the family. the staff was always helpful and tried to teach us, as there are no reservations. the menu is reasonable, and eating was good many tapas dishes, as well as larger meals. it is a great place to get a feeling for the French village life, we even saw a high-time celebration there.

Very nice place with a few tables inside and a bunch of tables in the square under the plane trees just outside. A varied menu of well-prepared dishes and drinks. (If you like belgium beers, try their La Chouffe, en presse. If you aren't a...big fan of belgium beers, La Chouffe may change your mind. Go ahead, it's about 2 euros for 33 cl No reservations. Much better and cheaper than La Maison Bleue, a highly over-rated pizza place also on the square. Rick Steves has made a rare stumble recommending La Maison Bleue. French pizza, ugh, Mon Dieu! We have visited this cafe several times over the past 7 years and not a lot has changed. Situated in the heart of a rual community, this cafe offers a typical French ambiance with lots of colourful characters and local lingo. A decnt Tapas style...menu which is ok the Cafe Du Centre Salad is delicious as are the chips. The centre piece of the square is the water fountain where the staff will full up and serve to your table. Always busy with lots of locals and cyclists. Decent wines very cheap. Toilets are not in the bar, but round the corner. Over all not to be missed.

Men standing at the bar, having an espresso or their first drink of the day. They normally only stay for 5 or 10 minutes and then move on. Lottery tickets and scratch cards are sold almost non-stop. Smokers come in to buy their fix. In...addition to all this, one coffee after another is made for those who sit opposite the bar. They don't have time for a chat here so don't expect them to pay too much attention to you. But that might well be the reason why you like it here. You almost feel anonymous, away from everything. Don't get the wrong impression ..... they're very friendly here. We like being here and have almost become regulars.
