"We were looking up and down Weinbergsweg, puzzled by the number of new eateries and how full everything was before 7 PM. Where on earth have we landed?? Settling in at Café Fleury turned out to be our happy choice. We chose our seats on the terrace ourselves. My friend enjoyed her madeleines, and I had the best quiche lorraine ever in Berlin (other than my own, of course, following Wolfram Siebeck's recipe, so this is not an exaggeration): It was fresh, fluffy, the crust crusty quite obviously, it recently had come out of the stove and wasn't heated and heated again in a microwave. Since I'm at it, I'd also like to sing praises to the side salad, something that is so often overlooked (by the restaurant) and quietly accepted by the customers, as something unavoidable: Here came a pleasant seasonal mix of orchard salad leaves and fresh herbs with a gentle mustard dressing (elsewhere, oftentimes, they are too mustardy if you know what I mean). The housewine, a smooth, no frill Merlot, did it's part to make this a lovely early evening inbetween snack on a street that can be otherwise safely dubbed a tourist drag."
