"I had heard good things about Carpaccios from my wife, who is from the area and highly recommended it. Upon arrival, we were seated and asked about our drink preferences. When inquiring about the lagers available, we were told they had John Smiths or Guiness. When I asked about a different option, the staff mentioned they had Kronenbourg. I found it peculiar that an Italian restaurant did not offer Italian beer. Disappointed with the drink options, my stepson and I settled for coke and diet coke, which were flat. For our meals, the potato skins were enjoyable, but my wife's chicken liver pate received a mixed response from the staff. My chicken parmo was barely warm throughout. To top it off, we were presented with the wrong bill at the end, attempting to charge us for items we did not order. Overall, we were extremely disappointed and would not consider returning."

A former favourite of mine which has gone from very good to absolutely awful. The food bordered on inedible. No more Carpaccio for me

Restaurant food delivered...are you joking trying to pass of £1.99 Dr Oetker roasted veg pizza as made in site. Please don't insult me. Parmo wasn't much better, all went in the bin even the dogs wouldn't touch it. Pig swill at best, after 20 years of using never again

I was visiting family as I now live out of town. I used to enjoy this restaurant in the past so I booked a table, but now I wish we hadn't bothered. The waitresses were young and inexperienced, and there was a poor selection of drinks available. The starter was good but the main course was just okay, a bit bland. Sorry, but I would not visit again.

Took a little while to be asked what drinks we wanted on arrival so ordered them the same time as mains. Chicken was delicious and couldn’t find a fault with it, as was the wine. Had to ask for Parmesan for the pasta meal. Asked twice for dessert menu. Very traditional desserts, but the crumble wasn’t traditional with its granola style topping. I’d choose something else next time. View menu

I could never get in to this restaurant ever, and I booked a table in advance. And now I realise why I couldn’t. Wow! What an amazing experience, did have a problem with my drink tasting of chemicals (pint) but they couldn’t do enough to help me. The food was excellent and I mean excellent. The service was great and the price was great for what we had. Overall defo gonna be back and was so impressed I couldn’t fault it.

My family and I went to this restaurant for a meal during Mother's Day weekend since it was a favorite of my mom's. Unfortunately, the food was subpar. The steaks were overcooked, the fajitas were watery and tasteless, and only my mom's sea bass was good. The kids' pizzas were average at best. It was strange to see a restaurant primarily offering 1664 lager. Additionally, no one checked on our meal until the end. The service was also lacking, as our waitress just dumped our cutlery on the table after our starters and left. When I raised these issues to the waitress clearing our table, another staff member said there was no manager available to address the situation. They did offer us a free...

"Visited this weekend for a family celebration and had an unremarkable experience. Decor of establishment was rather nice. Admittedly, we were a large booking of 17 individuals and this can be challenging to manage and organise for such a small establishment. The mature gentleman was rather rude to our host whom asked for an additional chair for the party as we were one short despite finalising numbers as agreed earlier in the afternoon. This is no way an appropriate manner to treat guests and clearly set a bad example for his staff as well as the wrong tone for the evening ahead. Guests were not even properly seated before being hounded for their drinks order despite not being given a drinks menu. Upon asking about cocktails to the waitress whom was pleasant she was unable to give the full selection just the three she knew of the top of her head that were the standard run of the mill selection. To give full credit to her fo honest regarding the diaquiries before we ordered them in. The cocktails (passion fruit martini and cosmopolitan's) ordered were disappointing as they tasted watered down and lacked a bang. Don't understand why one of the passion fruit martinis was brought out in a drinks glass which was rather random. Drinks orders were taken on an ad hoc basis with the waiting staff not taking a full tables order walking away as people attempted to give their drinks order, unintentional maybe? We were rushed to give our starters/mains orders all of which came promptly and all guests received the correct order. The waiting staff shouted out food orders from the top of the table to identify who's order was who's. The pasta based dishes were pleasantly enjoyed yet the pizzas and parmesans proved to be somewhat vanilla. Not all guests had properly finished eating their meals before the gentlemen asked if he could remove plates before receiving an answer from the full table resulting in some guests to not finish their meals. We were not offered a deserts menu once they removed dishes from the table. We had second hand embarrassment for an additional family party whom were having a celebration meal at the restaurant. The party had started to get settled at the table putting out their balloons etc when the mature gent stormed over barking at them to move as he shoved table and chairs across the restaurant. This clearly made them feel uncomfortable as was noticed and commented by the service users of the restaurant. The waiting staff plonked the celebration cakes on the table one of which didn't even go to the correct individual. NO SPECIAL MEMORY OR MAGICAL MOMENT TO BE HAD FOR A 18TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. It would have been nice if they had asked before bringing it out as some of our party partially missed out on the occasion. The bill was given to the wrong individual instead of the host which allowed for everyone to see the bill when this was an private affair. To be perfectly honest we visited a few months earlier and had a disappointing experience but with better service. Linthorpe Road is bursting with alternative, superior, independent eateries that I would highly recommend instead."
