"Used this pub for years under various owners. Tonight ordered a stout, barman pulled a pint and put it to one side then pulled mine. I took one sip at the bar, it tasted like rotten eggs. Clearly not happy he then offered me another beer saying no one had complained before. Wouldn't answer why he put a pint aside before. Got another drink and sat down. He gave the pint to another guy he clearly knew. Then he starts going on at us making us very uncomfortable saying he doesn't recognise us as locals despite a waitress saying she did. He got so bad we left our drinks full) and left. We are late 50s and never seen anything like this. He said he was the owner but we have never seen him before. Sad thing is my wife who was with me. Her and her friends use this place often. Never again. Just stunned, never given a place in this town a bad review Reply after yours. I assumed you had CCTV of the incident so was accurate in my review. We arrived in town at 530 for a meal at 1858, then one drink at 6 poor folk and one at the mitre stout) Yours was the fourth pub. I did not offer the drink to anyone. A man with long hair asked you if he could have the drink when you took it off me. You gave the whole drink to him. He actually recommended a different beer he liked and I took his advice and thanked him. Hardly falling out You replaced the drink with a fruity beer and we sat opposite the bar. You continued to stress no one had complained about the stout before and you had sold 2 pints that night. You got agitated when I asked why then had you poured a three quarter pint before mine and put it to one side. It is not something you do normally. We decided to leave at that point and I gave the second pint of fruity beer to the man with the long hair sat at the bar.. I did this because he recommended the beer when you offered an alternative and because he was being friendly. He was very happy. The drink was full as was the fruit juice my wife had ordered. You seemed obsessed we were not locals and didn't recognise us. To be fair I have never seen you before in the pub, it is usually younger staff behind the bar. You only introduced yourself as owner when I asked to speak to the manager. As for not recognising your wife as co owner I am sorry, she has never introduced herself as such, I assumed she was a permanent member of staff. As she brought food to the table I thought she was a waitress. Without title badges this is an easy mistake, and petty to make an issue of"

Great dining atmosphere. Cosy, low beams, candlelight... lots of choice with both the fancy A La Carte Menu and the Tapas menu which is great for sharing or a big party of friends I imagine. We went on valentines and it was really gorgeous.

Been going to Carriages many years now and it just gets better and better. Chris and his team are always friendly and give the best service. The food is fantastic and the early bird menu very reasonable and still lots of choice. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Took my son here tonight and we were left for 40 minutes without even the offer of a drink. We were completely ignored and other people coming in after us were getting served. Once I had got up to walk out the waitress the suddenly noticed us! Will never come back. Such a shame as I’ve just moved here and like to support local businesses View menu

It's an amazing place, great people and fantastic food. We were visiting the area, and we found this place in google Maps. We have a soon in a wheelchair and we struggle getting into places because of space and dotn like to bother others while eating with sounds, but their staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. We have been recommending you to everyone because you are fantastic. Thank you for the amazing experience

the inner of the carriages of knaresborough is old and picturesque (how does this small medieval north yorkshire city fit). the segmented dining rooms (also outside and inside) give them the feeling to be in a cozy room, although there is a large restaurant overall. at our visit last night there were three menus to choose from: seafood two courses 24.00 a la carte two courses 24.00 tapas amuse bouche smoked guineau fowl taster we ordered a bottle foxwood viognier dry white wine 22.50 and a crianza red 23.00 during the reading of the menu options, and were served an amuseus boucher

"all those people who leave 1 star (or low star reviews) have either extremely high expectations or just have to be out to harm the call of a gem of a sandwich shop. I stopped yesterday, was late for lunch to my surprise and joy that they were still open, was a waiting queue to eat, so I might have been happy that they thought they would do 1 more order. I had the cheese-cutney sandwich couldn't resist the Scotch egg with black pudding. the Scotch egg was phenomenal, black pudding mixed with the sausage meat, a soft egg yolk practically still runny, which I really did not expect to add only to the already large aromene, the egg comes with a small pot homemade brown sauce (ketchup is an option, but I prefer brown soße) also the soße is a normal but it is a manifestation, it is a the sandwich was ineffective, thick-cut cheese on a homemade roll with homemade chutney (I suppose when everything else was made home) filled with fresh salad, I am curious what the difference between this is the ploughman’s, as it was in the round a ploughmans sandwich. the brot, cheese salad were all fresh taste amazing, the chutney transformed it, was like a cross between chutney salsa like the brown sauce was more sweet without much flavor, but really a great amount taste to what was possibly the best sandwich I had ever had! well made youngs, eating is great a try worth. reasonably also consider that it is the center of harrogate."
