"Love this place! Been lucky to have spent a lot of holidays in Arkengarthdale over the years. The Dale is scenic, quiet, and never seems to change too much. Full of amazing scenery, characters, and history. The CB is all this too. Set in a beautiful part of the Dale, the CB says its food and drinks are great, and they are. You get what you pay for, fantastic food and drinks. The staff are all brilliant, thoughtful and very capable. They remember little details about your last visit and are warm and welcoming. Very dog (and people) friendly. Good choice of food on the lunch and dinner menus, and children's menu. Vegetarian options are very good too. Book in advance if you want a table. The place is really popular, and you'll be very lucky to turn up and they have a spare table in the holidays. A great place to relax and unwind in one of the best parts of the country. The CB has a small children's play area, with a couple of big old trees to keep the sun off. If your children fancy some arts and crafts, a house a couple of doors uphill does felt kits (and made ones, if you want to pretend you made it), as well as some potted plants. Downhill in Langthwaite a local farmer sells amazing (very) free range eggs at the roadside too. Have a great time!"

Went for dinner, starters were fine, when the pie arrived, we were surprised to find 2 small pieces of beef and rest was mushrooms. Meals were tasty enough....Place just didn't sparkle.

Stayed for a couple of nights. Room excellent and breakfast and restaurant food top quality. Staff very attentive. Good bar selection. Certainly remote but set in stunning Dales countryside.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch here with our 3 large dogs. The staff were amazing at accommodating us despite us not having a booking on a busy Sunday lunchtime and we had a wonderful table in a secluded area giving us enough space to settle our dogs and eat without playing lead swap all the time, which can be a real issue eating out with more dogs present at the table than humans! The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back!

A heartfelt thanks from me to the talented chef who put together my rare roast beef salad. Succulent beef, salty and tangy Yorkshire blue cheese, crunchy candied walnuts, home-pickled veg, black peppercorns, a small amount of garlic, all the salad leaves under the sun, plus a gorgeous dressing that pulled everything together. Each forkful a delight and each forkful slightly different. A real pleasure to eat. The heather on the tables was a nice touch and the service fast and efficient. Highly recommended.

We were passing by and popped in to see if we could get a table to eat, it is best to book ahead if you do not want to be disappointed, as they were very busy and had a lot of group bookings booked in. We did get a table and had to leave it by a certain time for the next occupant’s, this was fine and we were thankful they could fit us in. Oh we were we pleasantly surprised when we got our food, it is the best meal we have had in a long time, compliments to the chef, every mouthful a delight, it was so tasty, and the presentation perfection. The staff were delightful, and very attentive, we felt comfortable and felt as though we had been coming to the pub for years, even though this was our f...

On our recent visit to the Yorkshire Dales, we enjoyed an evening meal here due to it being the closest pub within walking distance to where we were staying. It is recommended that you make a booking for this pub as it apparently can get very busy, however, when we arrived around 6:00pm it was fairly quiet. Although our table was actually booked for 7:00pm, we were allowed to sit there from when we arrived, even though we did say we wouldn't be ordering food until around 7:00pm, this was no issue. The menu offers a good range of traditional pub dishes, we ordered; the beef and mushroom pie and the fish and chips. When our food arrived, it was nicely presented with great portion sizes, and it...

"We arrived frazzled because we drove around the grounds in the dark not knowing where to go. The signage inside the grounds is no help at all. Allow time for this if you haven't been before. Fortunately we had because we wanted a pre dinner drink in the bar before we ate. Even when we did arrive we weren't sure if we had arrived at the back entrance because we stood for ages with no welcome or acknowledgement. A very disappointing start to our evening. When someone did come they didn't take our coats. We went through to the snug for a drink. They gave us menus and went away. Later came back for our order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then very quickly afterwards we were asked to go through to the restaurant. We had only had a couple of sips of our drinks and it was still prior to the time we had actually booked our table for (7.30pm). We felt rushed. The food came and was fabulous. I had the beetroot starter which had beautifully cooked beetroots and some pickles. It also had a grain through it. I couldn't remember what the grain was so asked a member of staff. She didn't know so went away to ask and came back saying it was probably buckwheat....probably! My main was pork belly with parsnip and an apple reduction. The pork could have been cooked a little longer. I think belly needs to be very well cooked until really soft. The top skin was impossible to cut through as it was not crisp, I couldn't eat it. A steak knife would have helped. Having said that it was still a good dish which could have been excellent. We had sides of mashed potato and greens with pickles both superb. The presentation of both dishes was innovative and inviting. Portion size was good too not tiny portions of fiddled with food which I much prefer. The service was not as polished as the food. There was no obvious manager and we had different servers which is never quite as good as one for the entire meal. The servers were scruffy not appropriate for such a lovely building. Overall it was OK but could have been superb with more attention to some details. Service: 2 Location: 3"
