Spent 3 nights at Chequers while visiting family in the area. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will most certainly be back.

Enjoyed a lovely meal , the main course tagliatelle was delicious and the dessert chocolate and orange cheesecake was one of the best I've ever eaten. It was made by Niomi one of the chefs . The staff made us very welcome ,will definitely go again . View menu

Stayed here for 2 nights, lovely comfortable room. Bar and restaurant area nice and cosy . Meals both days were fantastic , huge portions , breakfast also brilliant. Didn’t need to eat until the evening ! Well done to the chef . Staff very welcoming and friendly . Would definitely go back .

Donna and staff very friendly and accommodating especially the chef as I have food allergy, the food was prepared to my taste. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed the night clean but rooms need updating, having said that it was adequate. Promised by Donna our next stay will hv more updated rooms. Excellent value for money

Stayed overnight, room6, superfine bed, loved the quirkiness of the room, in a very old building, really warm with outside temp of -7 degrees. We had dinner the evening before, couldn't fault the food. Huge portions, extensive menu and breakfast in the morning was amazing. If I ever need to visit the area again, will definitely be back! Me and my girlfriend stopped here for the night. The pub itself is really nice good prices great food. The rooms were spacious had a balcony which was great and had breakfast included which was a very great price especially as we decided to stay on a whim the day we got there. But our best part was Naomi who was super helpful very friendly helped us out with all our needs and was just a great laugh. If we are back in the area we will definitely stop here again.

What a fabulous time we had at the Chequers on Friday! We had the festive menu. On arrival table was beautifully decorated with crackers and mini mince pies.. first class service and very attentive staff. Don’t know the friendly guys name who works behind the bar but he’s fab, good sense of humour and he offered me water due to my cough! Belinda was great. Portions were such good value for money and turkey dinner to die for! Food including starters were delicious and plenty of it! We had to take some home! Staff were so friendly and accommodating can’t wait to return! Well done and huge thank you!

We had a great meal, service was amazing, fab night out. Beer, cider and wine was great. I have not been to this pub in years... and what an improvement, the decor has been updated, looks really fresh and smart, but with out loosing the initial character of the building. The staff are all very friendly, efficient and welcoming. The food was excellent, I liked the fact their menu wasn't long and extensive, there was still plenty of choice and it was all cooked and presented to perfection. (Amazing dessert!.... chocolate orange cheese cake.... OMG, made by an excellent lady I would totally recommend this place and I think it's got a really promising future.
