"We were in Normandy on a trip with friends, and our guest suggested us this restaurant. We arrived and we asked for 4 "30 euros" menus, with entrée, main course and dessert. Our waiter (both nice and friendly) discouraged us, warning us about the amount of food in the dishes that we choose... He was right! The entrees were quite good (I ate a delicious salmon salad), but the main courses were excellent! I took meat in camembert sauce (tasty), my boyfriend the pork leg cooked in cider (QUITE tasty and tender), our friend took chicken in lobster sauce (with a whole lobster on the chicken!), that we regarded with suspicion but that actually was really good, and at least the fourth of us took a "petit Jesus", that was a giant sausage... delicious! We took also mead and wine, and only one of us had the courage to deal with the dessert (a kind of strawberry smoothie, very good). We spent about 35-40 euros each, and we found that for this kind of dinner, both abudant and of a pretty good quality, this is a proper price."

Locally-inspired food was filling and interesting. We had a burger and chips, and a chicken casserole served in a pot.

Hosting was really great. The waiter took our order and we got served in 10 mn. Wine was perfect. It is clean, very good and authentic with an open kitchen. Don't miss that spot when you visit Caen

Two of us. Atmosphere was great. Service was fantastic. Our French is limited and waiter was great in explaining to us in English. We thought the food and presentation was excellent. Had escargot and beef (two courses)...and wine, of course. Loved the pictures all over the walls and ceiling. Will definitely go back if our travels venture through this town again.

Visited this restaurant with friends, and the staff were very accommodating with my non French speaking friends. We all had a variation of steak, and were very happy with it. The waiters were happy to make recommendations for drinks etc and translate the menus. When we visited it was bitterly cold outside and so the restaurant was a little chilly but this wasn't a massive problem.I don't understand why this isn't rated much, much, higher.

It is a great-great resto, if you are nearby - do NOT miss it! It is very cosy and the guys there just so nice (and handsome). The food is just excellent, so try to make a reservation beforehand, cause it gets full fast. We had chosen their specialities and both of us loved it. Ask the waiters for a suggestion and trust them. The portions are huge: be ready! For two main course (huge-huge and one of the most delicious one!) and for the bottle of wine we paid 70 euro - worth every penny of it!

Stumbled upon this place whilst looking for a wc wonderful staff very friendly and helpful. Rustic food well cooked and presented. I had chicken and was wondering what would arrive when I was presented with a ladle! A lovely chicken quarter arrived in a marmite with potatoes and a cider, cream and mushroom sauce my husband was presented with a whole ham knuckle in a cider and shallot sauce. A very nice cream brûlée and a chocolate mousse followed. Appeared popular with the locals too. I would heartily recommend this place

I went for lunch with a friend after a couple of hours at the museums up at the Chateau. The waiter didn't speak very good English, but was friendly. They had a simple formula menu, where you could get two courses for a set price, which could include both the entre du jour and the plat du jour. The food was good, but what was most memorable were the calvados and pomme cidre we drank. Dessert was the omnipresent tarte tartin, which was okay. I liked the ambiance. The waiters wore straw hats like they were impressionist painters.

I am french and from Caen, and often take our friends who come to visit us from overseas to this restaurant. You always get a warm welcome , and the staff are friendly, and the evening is always a great enjoyable moment !The atmosphere is really great, menus on the black board, eating on big tables, drinking home brew in a horn, being served 1,5 kg of meat straight on the choping board or in the casserole... And the food, slowly cooked in duck fat, it's the french cuisine of the south-west france!Don't miss it!Merci a l'equipe de chez Patoch !

"Restaurant in a warm setting and where you feel good. On the other hand, we rarely saw such a shipping server: called recited dishes at all speeds and did not even have time to hear our question that it had already gone. I never asked if the meal was going well, not even at the end of the meal where it was only to reach the payment terminal without saying a word if it is a final "good-bye"... It may not have been his day but it makes the experience unpleasant. This can happen, but we also found two pieces of food wire in a canelloni. Too bad because some dishes were excellent. PS: I can't answer the following owner's message, so I do it here: This is your establishment, we took the menu in 7 movements on Saturday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. The exact name might not be canelloni but it was a plant aviole in which there were two small transparent threads. To confirm that it was your restaurant, we also ate: emulsion egg with truffle (delicious), focaccia, sacred jacques in several kitchens with radish, foie gras cooked in a pot of juice with fire, rice with smoked milk (delicious), carpaccio mushroom and pork play if I'm not mistaken, etc. Saké as first agreement, etc. The main dish was 'a great chicken man' as we described the master of the hotel when we asked him the name of the dish and that he did not take the time to return to the repeat table. I confirm his behavior more than limit. One of the waitresses also served us twice was very pleasant and professional. I can call you if you need further explanations."
